What is "wrong" with that Jon Aba, Redd Foxx had been around the block for decades, if he didn't save his money or pay his taxes, why should Demond Wison come to his rescue, that's the one agency you don't play with the IRS. Redd Foxx helped older actors get work on his show, I'll give him that, but help pay his IRS bills because he tried to be slick. That's ridiculous !!

Demond Wilson is a wise man. He loved Red but he's honest. Many people just talk good about someone because they're dead. Their passing is sad but it doesn't change the truth. He knows Red wasn't perfect. It takes a certain level of mutual love and respect to hold someone accountable.
I applaud him and will always adore the show and consider it a comedic masterpiece and that's all thanks to the incredible actors/comedians on the show.

Demond took a lot of guts to be totally honest... So, lets respect that... He never said he loved him... He didn't dislike Red...But, he basically was saying Red was just somebody he worked with... That's probably a big reason it was pretty easy for him to take a step back, and be smart, and not just give money to a guy who just throws money out the window... But, I'm sure if that was his actual father, that wouldn't have been so easy...

Here’s my Redd Foxx story. Shortly after he left Sanford, I was at a jazz club in Los Angeles, the Parisian room. The great Milt Jackson was performing that night, as I’m pulling into the parking lot, I immediately recognized Redd. Now just Imagine this hugh television star, driving a banged up limousine that was in disrepair with a couple of guys outside of the vehicle, and they were snorting coke. I wanted to be excited at seeing a celebrity, but I wasn’t able to because it was obvious that he was going through some difficult times.

You do realize that if the income tax is truly legal, that the govt can take every penny you make and leave you with ZERO...Right, and that's the absolute fact. The govt also needed you to, VOLUNTARILY, go get a SSNumber to make it legal. That's right, there is, NO LAW, that requires any American citizen, to get a SSNumber...That's a pretty big deception wouldn't you say. I love guys like Redd Foxx, they know what the real deal is and are willing to risk it ALL, unlike the typical delusional sheeple out there.

While I understand Mr. Wilson's perspective, the young man out of respect, and a sense of professionalism, held his own against an older, bombastic individual. That takes a special person not to lose their cool under pressure, especially while this interview is being recorded for posterity. Mr. Wilson spoke of some things as far as preparedness that should be heeded by this young man for upcoming interviews, yet other than that, I personally wanted to acknowledge his ability to keep the interview from being contentious, and keeping it on track. I lived thru this. Redd, on camera told the tv executives just how he felt about what he was receiving in the way of salary and he felt insulted when they gave him a case of alcohol (brandy or something similar). He read them the riot act, during prime time and refused to re-up his contract. Those are the episodes when Grady stepped in. The ratings were high and he deserved his share. Sometime between season 3 and early 4 they worked things out and he returned to the show.
He later got into tax trouble with the IRS and Frank Sinatra bailed him out. Before long he was in the same trouble, old habits die hard. When the IRS came this time they took everything! Jewelry, awards, furniture, house, etc! Asian wife left him. He was ALL OVER TV begging for help. Calling out folks like Eddie Murphy, saying, “You have millions, you can’t help me!” He called out a few other folks, somehow Eddie’s stand out, because by this time I no longer felt sorry for him, I was thinking, didn’t Frank just bai you out. I thought, what makes you think they are responsible for you. Everyone has their struggles.
Anyway, Eddie helped him by creating a sitcom for him and Della Reese and putting them in Harlem Nights.
I watch SS every night, never miss a show! My dad was the spitting image of him, attitude, behavior, his speech, mannerisms, you name it. I knew of Redd Foxx thru Malcom X, when he was a dish washer at Smalls Paradise in Harlem. He was a product of his socialization and didn’t grow beyond that, not even from his mistakes.

They are surrounded by people who are telling them everything they want to hear and not what they need to hear. All that would have happened is Mr. Wilson getting cussed out by Redd Foxx. Mr. Wilson stayed in his lane and he probably did so because he knew Foxx well enough to know what to do and what not to do.

You can talk until you are blue in the face and they still wouldn't listen. They'll just laugh at you when you are at the point of frustration and exhaustion. My father always learned things the hard way and never learned from his mistakes. Now, he lives alone and is in bad health. His so called friends wouldn't lift a finger to help him. When you make your bed, you have to lie in it. Yes, life is about choices, and sometimes we make bad choices. Some of you need to accept the hard truth that yes, Redd was an older man, but he wasn’t a wise or responsible person. There is a lot of history about his behavior outside of the show-cocaine and alcohol addictions, orgy parties, physical abuse against women, casting couch culture and other acts that don’t match to his Fred Sanford lovable grumpy character.
I was shocked to learn that Redd and those older men that appeared on the show, were at mansion parties and in the show trailers, living it up like there was no tomorrow. I would be ashamed to see 40-60 year old men snorting and smoking cocaine, and walking around naked with groupies and drug dealers. I can see why Demond was and still is so disgusted. You would think that the younger cast members like Demond would have been wilding out in the 1970s, but he wasn’t.
If you notice some of the S&S episodes, Redd would often look to the side of the shot at cue cards, mainly because he was high and loaded, and not because he was old. You can also see Demond and other actors even helping him along at times. Redd lived his life recklessly. He was not Fred Sanford.

Most of Redd's career was spent on the "Chitlin" Circuit" a string of Black owned clubs throughout U.S. where a comic could get by. Redd finally saw a big and consistent pay day With Sanford and Son for the 1st time in his life. Also crooked agents mostly likely stole from him also, as he was financially illiterate, and had limited schooling, which the IRS cares nothing about. RIP Redd Fox.

Wow, amazing point blank in your face Honest interview. Demonds Truth and life advice is so uplifting. His time in Vietnam as a 11Bravo grunt getting drafted and serving his country 🇺🇸 without a wimper demands respect. I was drafted and served in a Nam as a 11Bravo Grunt in 1970. Demond tells it like it was and is today. What a life he has and all due respect brother. Glad you made it home.
    Peace

and that is true but I’m not going to continue to punish myself financially just to pat myself on the back because I felt it was a good deed done for hommies because I may have the money to do it..

Demond needed a different type of interviewer. I know that Comedy Hype is geared for the younger generation, but they might try to find older, more established interviewer who could handle these older legends.

@@GinoCorleone Two people come to mind; Ed Gordon and Roland Martin. Both would have been better because both do their homework. Plus Ed and Roland being older and wiser than this youngster would have pushed back. When Demond said he had observed Jon for five minutes reading notes indicated he was looking for a fight.

Demond has explained in previous interviews that his friendship with Redd ended when Redd quit Sanford and Son without telling anyone. Demond said he believed that Redd - at the height of his success - decided that he was bigger than everyone else on the show and he didn't need them anymore. Most of Redd's future endeavors were failures, but Demond never forgave Redd and refused to help him or work with him again.

That’s very evident. He is very bitter. If wasn’t for Redd Foxx, we wouldn’t even know who Demond Wilson is. But it’s burden to carry, but has Demond Wilson done since Sanford and Son that’s notable? Nothin.

@michaelchatman,I think if it weren't for Sanford and Son (Not Redd Fox) later generations wouldn't know who Wilson or Fox were. If it weren't for that show, this young dude wouldn't even be interviewing Wilson because it's doubtful that he would know who Fox was if not for Sanford and Son.

Mr Wilson is an extremely impressive gentleman.
Studied ballet, wounded in action in the Vietnam War.
    Obviously, he has studied philosophy.
    Immense integrity and genuine humility.
I hope his children recognize how lucky they are to have been raised by such a remarkable man.
