    37 points, 27 rebounds, dam man? You have to say that man was a problem for all he played against.

    Great video!! A lot of great context! I'm guessing you read The Rivalry? It tells the story of Chamberlain and Russell.

      I have not, I’m going to have to check that out! I read “red and me” a book by bill Russell as well as “wilt: just like your average 7 foot black millionaire living next door” as well as a lot of research. Thanks for watching! -Drew

    Wilt only got along with 3 coaches Frank Mcguire who let him do whatever he wanted, Alex Hannum who challenged him to a fight, and Bill Sharman mostly b/c he was at the end of his career and hated Kareem, also Willis Reed was out in 72

    I have Wilt as the goat individual player. Yes, he had an ego, but he liked to win, better than anything. I think his shortcoming was that he didn't have one of the best basketball minds and didn't learn the, team play is better concept, depending on the talents of your teammates, until later in his career. He was also coached to score all he could for the first 6 years of his career, which he did, better than anybody, ever. It just wasn't enough to beat the Celtics teams.

    • @SuperbSportMedia
      @SuperbSportMedia  Рік тому

      Certainly an argument to be made that his peak was better than anyone else’s but I would say those reasons you gave are reasons he isn’t. Others had the impressive resume as well as the drive to get better and play unselfish basketball

    • @wmden1
      @wmden1 Рік тому

      @@SuperbSportMedia Impressive resume, maybe, but nothing like Wilt's, at both ends of the court. I am talking career Points, and rebounds per game, not peak. He blocked more shots than anybody, including Russell, but we can't count that, because they weren't counted, officially. I watched them play, real time. Russell had a good outlet pass, and so did Wilt. Russell's teams may have won championships, but Wilt outplayed Russell, in all phases of the game, 90% of the time, and equaled him in assists. You may have been listening to interviews of Red, and other old Celtics. Look at the stats. Watch footage of old games, and highlights of both players.

    • @wmden1
      @wmden1 Рік тому

      Check stat sheets on both. Per career, Russell played 42.3 min, Wilt played 46.3. For the playoffs, Russell played 45.4, Wilt played 45.8. I checked this about a year ago after Red said, in an interview, that Russell only played 36 minutes a game. I had watched a lot of their games on TV and didn't remember Russell sitting on the bench for anywhere near that long, in any game. Red was incorrect, according to several stat sheet posts of both players.

      plumbers is called those role players. Top 20 supertars would be great in any era.But Reddick was talking about 4-5-6-7-8 best players in nba teams in 1960s they indeed looks like plumbers not real athletes compare to later nba standarts
