It's so interesting to realize Dave's biggest character moments are through tender moments instead of active events... It says a lot about his character
Describing Karkat as a tsundere heroine is somehow the worst and yet most fitting description of him as a character and I can’t tell why.

In Gnosticism, the real god made everything and Yaldabaoth was a demiurge, mistaking himself to be the true original creator, and making the shitty subpar universe that is our universe, either in opposition to the true god or in ignorance of its existence. So Lord English killing the original author and trying to rewrite a shitty version of Homestuck is a good modern re-enacting of that narrative
I think the thing that sticks to me the most about Dave is the fact that his personal quest had him go around in a circle. He breaks the welsh sword, uses more powerful versions of it, and then ends up back with the full welsh sword. Even the way Davesprite explains that it has to be broken because Dave can't John the sword away, seems kinda impactful.
Isn’t there a saying that talks about Time being a circle?
@@JMaverick67 I mean yeah it is a time quest and part of his whole learning time shtick was learning how to loop it. While his personal quest definitely has him dealing with his bro and what not. I think it also reinforces his knightness, learning and accepting the role and all that crap. I mean he did receive the welsh sword directly after saying how being a knight of time is about not using.
I've got a fan theory that Dave was able to break the Unbreakable Katana because jujus are only invincible as long as they'll become themselves, and the one Roxy brought in from Game Over is the one that ends up going back. This is totally unrelated to the symbolism, I just think it's a fun idea. x3
Or because Lord Jack was using Crowbars Crowbar to figh, being a weapon that makes any magic/special property null and ending up nulling Dirks katana

I can't believe it has taken me this long to realize the actual mythology behind Lord English. He's literally a homage to Osiris.
Egyptian motifs. He's the patriarch of the mythos. Green complexion. The skull motif connects him to death. He's torn into pieces in conflict with his sibling. He's literally reincarnated in a magic sarcophagus. He tries to exert his will over the underworld (Dreambubble). He's a composite god of three beings, one of which being himself. (Ptah-Sokar-Osiris)
It's kinda freaky how accurate OptimisticDuelist is when talking about knights such as myself

@@Carlos-ld7cd sorry I thought this was an ark, not just a general analysis of Dave’s character; my original question was asking when this supposed ark “started” generally so I would know if, with my progress so far(the end of year 1), I would get spoiled.
@@gamerrfm9478 oh lmao! no problem, yes this video is just a general analysis on dave's character however it does have some indication towards the arc which his character goes through so just be careful when watching these videos! Highly recommend finishing it whenever you can, homestuck has excellent character writing
I love these Dave Strider videos! I really relate to the character. Hell, my profile/self incert Oc takes Dave’s last name. The Jack part was just my favorite name, and I was using it for my favorite characters way before Homestuck.

I love these videos about Dave, because they really help me reflex my own Knight-of-Light issues and go deeper into his character, which I find to be one of the most exciting in cast. Can't wait, however, to see Rose Lalond's reviews, since she is my favourite character and the one I most relate to (or at least all my friends say that I act like her).
Your analysis is competent, full and, though has a lot of controversial statements with some of which I could disagree, it gives me a lot to think of, tons of new info and, as I've mentioned earlier, provides ways to cope and work through some childhood traumas. Thank you for that, you're awesome!!

I don't remember reading anything about Dirks denizen being Yaldabaoth or about AR fusing with caliborn... where is this written? I feel like I missed something important here
All denizens have the same name (and look) as the kids browsers (which we see), and we saw Yaldabaoth on dirk's planet, and maybe it was stated directly. AR fusing with Caliborn was not directly stated with words, but it happened in Caliborn's Masterpiece, and that was the whole point of the masterpiece.

@@AstralAlpaca Whole sword breaking thing seems like a Running gag. Dave breaking Dirk's sword seems like the sign of his character finishing and showing how much he has grown up after all, The only sword that He has failed to break was Bro's sword.
