Same TBH. I don't mind being the leader. But I don't force myself into the position. If a situation is out of control or there's an issue and it needs to be fixed. I normally volunteer. Or I passively try to give advice, not to come across as aggressive. But as supportive. (I'm also ENFJ btw.

Funny thing is I'm INFJ but I might end up taking the lead in a group of introverted people just because they don't interact with each other when we need to get things done and I naturally know it's necessary.

As an ENFJ, I really don’t mind my alone time. As long as I’m in a good place emotionally, or I’ll go down fast. We think WAY TOO MUCH and OVERTHINK most everything. It’s exhausting sometimes. But being around people who I enjoy the company of, is my happy place!
I do love small groups much more than large crowds. I think it’s because of the camaraderie and ability to have close interactions. Events with a lot of people can be overstimulating.

    • @Comewithmeifuwant2live

Absolutely! I'm an ENFJ and enjoy my time alone, but when I have positive interaction with people I'm elated and feel good, not drained. My brain has been stimulated especially if it revolves around laughing and doing something fun and silly. Over thinking is horrendous! It's something I have always struggle with.

William I feel your pain about overthinking. We are definitely the most introverted extroverts. It’s very confusing sometimes. May I ask you a question? Do you often feel like you don’t fit in? Yet people seem surprised when you say that?

2 min in and yeah, as an ENFJ too I kind of need like a 12 - 14 hour break from people every 7 days or so to refuel myself and then I normally binge on people for like 2 days straight with small breaks in between. I DIE if I dont get an extended alone time period at bare minimum every 10 days. It feels like my N switches off or runs out of power and feel dull.

I feel like Se also allows us ENFJs to be super present because we turn it on with people, although that can be pretty draining. I don't really realize or pick up on insight or perceptions until later when I'm alone and not with people, and able to use my Ni. I also realized that I use Se a lot more when I care about how I am coming off, almost checking to see other's reactions to Fe in the external world. So when I care about you, I will be 10x more present and Se with you than if I am on autopilot and not thinking about anything. I totally relate to the whole not noticing details in the real world and being clumsy thing, I am still pretty terrible at that most of the time, I just can turn it on when I care (usually I dont'). In response to the most extroverted extrovert thing, although most ENFJs dream of having large groups where they are ringleaders who belong, when Fe and Se are not getting any input back from social interactions it shrivels and ENFJs can be quite introverted when they become over aware of Fe and Se- trying not to say anything stupid or annoying, so they can be quite reserved. Loved your vid so much, it's nice to see other people so knowledgeable. Just some thoughts from an ENFJ :D

ENFJ here. You're right about not picking up on insights and perceptions until you're alone. That explains why I have to reflect on my day and meditate.
I've had jobs where you have to pick up on those things quickly, and it made things difficult if I didn't, so I practice on it. Age and experience has helped.
      Thanks for your input!

As an ENFJ, I CANNOT be alone. I'd rather have someone to talk to or be in the presence of people.
Being alone means being left with thoughts which sort of backfires. Our attention to detail is very high. We tend to overthink when left alone.
This also means we pay attention to people, emotions and behaviors but also the physical world around us.
The self image/grooming and organization is DEAD on (for me at least). My room HAS to be clean and organized. My day's usually planned. I do go to the gym and lead a healthy lifestyle.
My motto has always been "there's never a second chance to make the first impression." Which usually means dressing dapper, being polite and being overall a people's person.
Sorry for the long comment... However, Great video! Didn't know INFJ's would be such alike! You look absolutely amazing by the way!

    Very good video ! :)
I am ENFJ (male) and I've read a lot about the different personalities. Before when I was younger, around 15 years old - I remember always helping people with problems, I rarely had problems my self and therefore it was easy for me to help others. I kinda wanted them to feel happy and good about themselves. Now that I've grown older, I'm 24 now and I've actually learned to focus more on my inner. Often I chose to actually stay inside by myself to relax and gather some energy, but if I stay too long for myself (i'm talking a few days) then I have to interact with people to get my energy levels up again.
I like to have it tidy in my house, it cleans up my head - but I also love to make a mess sometimes (but kinda hate it at the same time) :P
But I really enjoy helping others, like teaching them things. At my work I train up new people, and it's a good feeling ! I know how to calm people if they're nervous and how to do things, it's like I feel what they feel and know how to work around that to make them feel better. I motivate them to do better.
And I've always been into sports, either its from football, to gymnastics to bodybuilding I've always done something - when I don't workout it's like I feel rotten and get a really bad
conscience, so I'm not taking a long break from it.
My best friend is an INFJ, we are getting along super well. :-)

i love enfjs! i love my enfj friend. there're definitely a lot of times we had conflict but through the years i dont think anybody has been able to intuit my state and could be bothered to sort of bring me out of my shell as much as she did. and its also just such an amazing gift that we share a lot of thoughts. or rather she always is able (ok with a bit of time sometimes) to truly understand the depths of my emotions and motivations. its always fantastic to work with her as well because i think infjs are so much of dreamers that we just ponder and ponder. enfjs are able to understand the 'brilliance' and 'validity' of our ideas and where we are coming from instead of writing us off. and i think it's the shared Ni function as well because she really does get the whole picture and will feel equally invested in the vision. but then its even better because she then is able to actually set things into motion to actuallise it. i cant even count the number of times my enfj friend was extremely accommodating and listened to all my thoughts, and then kickstarted a process to bring them to fruition. i definitely rely on her way too much to execute things. having worked with her for so long it feels also impossible for me to work with anyone else because it seems nobody can match the level of chemistry i had with her and she just understands everything im trying to say and builds on it (makes me sound like an autistic kid or something, but i can be extremely picky and disagreeable when it comes to executing my ideas and she really could be bothered to be patient about it). that shared Ni and the heightened Se, is just simply a perfect accompaniment to us infjs who spend way too much time in our heads and can be very ivory tower-ish. cant rave enough about the chemistry. not to mention she's just a fantastic person as well who cares a lot about people around her. i definitely do rely on her way too much as well as a friendship safety net.. sounds horrible i know. but i think im just generally quite dependent on her in many ways. shes just really good at keeping friendships and a bunch of friends together. gees, didnt know i could have so much to say.

I am an INFJ and my BF is ENFJ. I have such respect for him because I see all of this in him. I feel like he is everything I want to be if I didn't suffer from anxiety. In group settings, I feel like he brings me back. It always happens. Sometimes in group settings, I spend my time thinking about how he is so good in group settings. Totally distracted. I am also clumsy. I trip over things all the time. Last time we went to goodwill together, I backed up into him and tripped and it was so embarrassing.

Since INFJs are usually considered one of the most extroverted of the introverts, it's nice to hear about someone who, as you put it, tests very high in their introvert percentage, lol. And the tones and looks people give when they find out you've been home all day? Priceless. Reading, writing, watching a mixture of documentaries and some other shows, drawing and painting. Though, TECHNICALLY I leave the house to walk and pick a nature site for photography, if I didn't drive somewhere or went somewhere "in town" many people count that as "not doing anything all day."

I'm an XNFJ, alternating between both Introverted inuition and Extroverted feeling as my principal cognitive function. I can relate strongly to both, depending on which "cycle" I am. Cycles can last a week sometimes a month. I can relate to the ditzyness/forgetfulness & always being in my head/disconnected even in group contexts vs. when I am in an extroverted 'phase' I thrive in groups and leadership positions, people are drawn naturally to follow my sense of authority and direction. It is interesting to have no actual preference because few social situations intimidate me, however my friends and family find me frustratingly inconsistent (life of the party vs unreachable hermit).

+Sam Antonia Hello! I can definitely see that being a reality, and perhaps a frustrating one at that :) However, you might try looking at the rest of the cognitive functions! True, ENFJs and INFJs share the same functions, but they use them in very different orders. You might want to look at your tertiary and last functions and see whether they are Ti-Se (for INFJ) or Se-Ti (for ENFJ) :)

    • @idar3703
      @idar3703 7 років тому +2

What do you think is your inferior, and what is your tertiary? Se or Ti? ENFJs are typically a lot more trusting of their athletic abilities, whereas INFJs are highly creative, but not very practical. ENFJs are also tend to look more polished, and they're one of the types who care the most about their appearance (www.16personalities.com/articles/dressing-for-success-or-to-excess).
On the other hand, INFJs tend to be much more comfortable for example dealing with math or complex logical problems, and are also somewhat more intellectual. However they often have trouble living in the moment and are often uncomfortable with practical day-today tasks than the ENFJ.
If you have trouble determining if you are an Fe-dom or an Ni-dom, you can see if you feel as uncertain whether your Se and Ti is tertiary or inferior.
I think the best way to find out is to identify your inferior function.

Your observations of Enfjs are highly accurate. You probably described them better than they could describe themselves. However, have more confidence in yourself when it comes to determining the type of others assuming you understand the functions well. I found that the mbti tests online are highly inaccurate when measuring people's personality. The majority of my friends and family have mistype themselves and it was only through learning the functions were they able to type themselves properly.

    • @01Mlandry

I don't really know what you mean by light-heartedness, but I'm usually quick to forgive unless I've felt disrespected. I got a sense of humor, but it mostly comes out when I'm around family and close friends. I think I'm optimistic.
When it comes to judging others actions and behavior, I'm pretty judgmental. (More so of EF related errors than ET.) I get irritated when I have a say in something, but don't get a chance to decide. I'm trying to learn to be more assertive without coming across as a jerk.
My reaction to criticism is one of a couple things: (one) I'll defend myself or others, (two) I'll sit back and reflect (and even dissect the reason(s) why I received the criticism.
I think it's rare for when a person first meets me to have a good impression of me. I'm much too reserved and inhibited around strangers - usually (I think).
If I could fix anything in my personality, personally I wish I had more of a sense of humor around strangers and acquaintances.

+Beth Page I can be very light hearted and fun until I need to recharge. I am optimistic until something goes wrong. I like the idea of an organized tidy house but it never happens. I am morally conservative, but the intention of this is to protect people from harm. Don't like decisions made for me unless I can't decide. Criticism needs to be constructive otherwise I react very defensively. When I first meet people I feel that they think I am odd. I prefer old comfortable practical clothes and things.

I'm sure we can relate, when I speak to my INFJ friends, we have discussions over science, cultures and our goals in life. Thank you for making this video it's helpful and validates my experiences with INFJ's.

That is very like my mom!
About the taking care of self thing, I don't think it's about physical care but more about mental care. Sometimes my mom would get back from a psychology conference (she's a psychologist) of three days and be literally sick (with headaches and stuff) from all the interaction and intense social situations she'd put herself in without realizing. Her Fe is built for this kind of things, but even for a super extraverted ENFJ, too much of it can't be good.
I also think that for ENFJs other people's needs are often more important than their own, in the means of mental and social needs. So they can be very attuned to the needs of others within the group without taking care of their own needs and desires, and that's how my mom ends up sick after three intense days of taking care of other people's social and mental needs.
And about the Se thing - that is so true! My INFJ friend is way worse at this than my ENFJ mom, and I don't think she's capable of differentiating between a couple of stimulations she gets at the same time and sometimes she'd be very unaware of something and at the same time too aware of something else, whereas for my mom it's not likely.

This did help clear some things. My sister got this type and i can see why now. She's generally very aware of feelings and the general situation in a group than i am.Her introverted intuition would explain why she's so restless at nights, when her mind just can't stop cycling through all these thoughts.Or at least that's my understanding of it.

Great video, I love ENFJ's, they are amazing (I am an INFJ too)!❤️ My best friend is an ENFJ and I feel like this so applies to her! And it's not that surprising that people would think you're an ENFJ as INFJ's are actually called the "extroverted introverts" - many of us have blogs or UA-cam channels where we might appear extroverted and also we can fake being extroverts if we want or need to. And of course if we're with the "right" people (people we feel comfortable with), we can really enjoy the time with them and engage in the conversation which makes us seem like extroverts. But we definitely need our solitude to recharge afterwards as we get exhausted and drained after some time, even if it was a great conversation with deep and interesting people. I have sometimes been mistaken as extrovert, although I'm a huge introvert (I've also scored 98 % introversion). I mean, I definitely enjoy deep and meaningful conversations and discussions with interesting people (mostly N types) and can get really passionate, expressive and articulate if I talk about something I deeply care about. Also, I'm genuinely interested in people and what makes them tick, I really want to get how their mind works. However, I get drained easily and need a lot of solitude to recharge afterwards and I just like being on my own in general (just alone at home, reading a good book or a great article about MBTI, or painting/writing something). I feel like it also really depends on what environment people get to know you in - I guess my class mates would definitely agree on me being an introvert. I'm quiet and in my head most of the time and don't interact as much with them (except sometimes with my ENTP friend who is really deep and interesting, but we don't always talk when we're together, we just sometimes sit there quietly). And my family would probably also call me an introvert - I spend most of the time in my room, never go to parties etc. and they know overwhelmed and pissed I get when I had too much social interaction and too little alone time. ^^ Whatever, I'm rambling, sorry for this long comment... I really love your channel! xxx

My best friend is also a lot like you described and I also really like the things you said you like about ENFJs about her. She's now in a relationship and literally all her Fe is focused on the other person, I think ENFJs tend to really lose themselves in other people sometimes. But except for that, they're quite a good counterpart for INFJs and good company, yeah!

Hey! Love your videos. I have a question. My wife is an INFP (off the charts I) and I'm an ENFJ (just barely over on the E side). How do you think the use of social media factors into relationships? For example, I'm very happy to spend a day at home with her just the two of us, but I find myself having FB conversations with friends all over the world while I'm letting her recharge her introvert battery. What do you think? Is this pretty common? I guess my bigger question is how does social media affect the types?

On the taking care of ourselves point, I think you might have misread the underlying meaning there which is why it didnt line up with your 3 ENFJs too. What is meant by that is that we focus on everyone elses emotional needs so much that we neglect our own needs/values in order to satisfy those around us. Sacrificing our happiness for group harmony.

This was a great video. I always find the differences between me(ENFJ) and my best friend(INFJ) really interesting and definitely align with what was said here. I think the only thing I may clarify is that I believe the mbti meant that ENFJs don't take care of themselves emotionally sometimes. As in we are often so into helping other people that we neglect our own feelings a lot. But I would not say we don't physically take care of ourselves. That's all. :)

I've recently taken the MBTI and I've become a little obsessed with the process as a whole lol... I'm not sure if I'm unique when it comes to the test but I've taken it multiple times and I either come out as ENFJ or ENFP. I read both personality profiles pretty thoroughly and I still can't decide which one I most closely resemble. I really feel like I grab traits from both. How would you go about determining if you are one or the other? Any suggestions such as an activity or game that could go about discovering it? Sorry if that's a really vague question, but out of all these MBTI channels yours seems the most informative and easily understandable for a newbie like myself. Thanks!

    • @01Mlandry
      @01Mlandry  9 років тому +1

Greg Goodfellow Hey Greg:) Great question and I feel like it is one that many people ask often. My advice would be to study the cognitive functions within those specific types. So for the ENFJ the cognitive functions would be Fe Ni Se Ti and for the ENFP the cognitive functions would be Ne Fi Te Si. Cognitive functions are the foundation for MBTI and what make up the core of the types. The personality descriptions are helpful but hard to determine your type sometimes because we can relate to a lot in many different descriptions. Study them and see which cognitive functions you relate to better and think you operate in :) Hope this is somewhat helpful!

Infj - foucus on inner workings/ understanding people so they will ask ALOT of questions on what makes you YOU! It’s an never ending fascination of people and all things in the universe and how and why they are the way they are.
Isfj - focus on the needs of others in their physical environment. Ex. I have made food, come eat! Make sure you’ve done your homework! You need to go to school to be a doctor so you will be able to support yourself in the future! That sort of stuff.
