    this is so useful. I'm ENFJ and am always running after the things that seemingly interest me, ending up with too many hobbies and overwhelmed, finally giving up. And than I feel unproductive and you know, not like I'm fulfilling my potential (ENFJ favourite word), so I start the cycle all over again.

    I have 2 close relatives that are ENFJs, one is Blast-Sleep and the other is Play-Consume.
    The Blast-Sleep ENFJ is a social chameleon, able to match the tone and mood of whoever he's around to build rapport.
    The Play-Consume ENFJ is able to quickly master complex tasks after just observing someone do them once.
    Neither know what they want personally.

    • @BigChungusOriginal

      The First one Sounds more Likely Play-Blast, The other One indeed is Play-Consume. The Blast-Sleep Guy has Low Energy and you will find him more likely in His Room/ Workplace or Internet Teaching other people, Just Like Dave himself.

      Im the B-S type and probably don’t look so extroverted until I start explaining something or getting people/things organized. People confuse me for Consume savior because when I get in the zone, I become the sponge. I am rendered useless for most of anything in that state other than purely absorbing, understanding, questioning, and applying. Which may seem odd to others because consume is technically my third animal. I can control it, I’m not overwhelmed by it.

I'm an ENFJ in the technical field and really enjoy what I do. This could be the Fe/Ti alignment mentioned in the video and it feels like a good balance for me. Something important to note is that to "value" something on the social spectrum doesn't mean it's always refering to deeming things in a positive light. For someone who constantly sees negative patterns in society/friend circles/family etc. and no consistent way to solve these things, being an Fe dominant person (especially paired with Ni) can be hell.
    It's too easy to think of ENFJs (and ESFJs to some degree) as just "caring for people". It's like being constantly aware of how what everyone expresses in pretty much every situation, and automatically taking EVERYTHING into account that you know, have seen, heard, and-- any possible explanation outside of what you understand, (depending on how severe or important the expression could be under the surface.
    Imagine being sucked into thinking about why someone stopped smiling 0.2 seconds earlier than they use to do, and then backtracking what someone else just said, what angle or tone of voice they had, whether or not the person either hesitated because they reacted slightly before they fully understood what was said, and cancelled the expression, or if they possibly have some bodily ache, if they had seen something that distracted them emotionally in the background, backtracing to see if their eye-movements a moment ago matches this etc. etc. etc. etc.
    This can either go in the blink of an eye, or take a long time and sometimes when multiple people express a lot of things and it just hits you that there's hidden disharmony there-- you automatically feel responsible. Cause you're the one who suffers the most about it.
    This stuff is especially true for an ENFJ with trauma and frenetically look for the smallest expressions from as far away as possible in order to try stop them from escalating.
    Damn sorry for the wall of text btw.

    As a Blast Sleep ENFJ, its ironic how i let myself be mentally tormented by prioritizing Ti. It’s not just irresistible, its essential, and then it’s fking stressful because I need to plan new Fe+Se actions around my Ti findings. Then I can’t ignore those Ti findings because I’ve found the answer to what works. There are a lot of jerks out there that aren’t worth my time. I might consider who they are through Fe and Ni, but thats just me trying to give the situation a chance so that I don’t ignore the reality and stick with a decision I made because Ni tells me the truth about who those people really are. They just want to take advantage of anyone who doesn’t have the guts to say no. To hell with them. After I get done what I need to, I’m always fking gone so they can go take advantage of someone else or drown in their blinded and greed-laced misery.

    So this Alpha State you just introduced, it’s the balanced flow between the Dominant function & the Inferior function?
    If so then I guess as an INFP trying to get to their Alpha State I would need to be balancing Fi & Te. As a result I would have to force myself to step outside of my ‘safe space bubble of values’ (for lack of a better description atm) and find Te reality & facts.

    • @gardenjoy5223
      @gardenjoy5223 4 роки тому

      When you are an ENFJ a career is not just a way of making money. If you are not in any way worthwhile trying to make the world a better place, you will be stuck with having just one part of your personality fit your job and other parts crying to be heard. Also ENFJs can need some time to develop certain parts of themselves in different vocations, which serve different parts of their personalities, only to pursue a more integrated path for themselves later on. Where an ENFJ can say, that the path made sense. So choosing and sticking might just not be your thing (yet).
      About barbering and owning your shop: you must become the very best in what you do. Don't just 'serve' people with what they ask for, but learn which look truly becomes them and learn how customers will take your advice (before and after photo's of others - with their consent - might help). And since you are not shallow, you might want to help low income families / the homeless for free for a few hours a month, just to make the connection. Isn't it amazing how people feel better about themselves, when they look their best?
      The teacher/mentor in you might need you to become one of those, who train the next generation.

      Just replace "Fe" with "Ne", "Ti" with "Si", etc. until you've exchanged all the terms and you've got it. This one is quite similar to how an ENTP vid would be as it's mostly about extroversion, rather than ENFJs in particular, so it should be a pretty simple one to practice this method on. You can do this with most of DSPs vids and you'll get a lot more out of his limited UA-cam content. You'll find it's a lot more about the underlying systems than the individual cases.

    So, is the alpha state generally a balance of first and third functions? If so, then jumpers who emphasize first and third functions (instead of first and second functions) would more easily reach their alpha state.

    • @bumblyjack
      @bumblyjack 6 років тому +4

      Not jumpers, but certain preference with the Animals (Blast, Sleep, Consume, Play) may have an advantage in this area. Take ENFJ for example. A Blast-Play ENFJ favors Fe-Ni and then Fe-Se. There's no Ti in there. Blast-Sleep ENFJs, however, favor Fe-Ni and then Ni-Ti. That gives them a more comfortable relationship with Ti, at least when it's coupled with Ni. The same can be said for Play-Consume ENFJs, they have access to Ti via Se-Ti in the Consume Animal.

    I know it's a bit unrelated, but could you make a video comparing INTJs and INTPs, please?

    • @KayKayBayForever
      @KayKayBayForever 6 років тому +6

      Unnamed Muffin INTJs and INTPs are very very different in Dave Powers’s theory. So different that I highly doubt they’ll do a video directly comparing them.
      But think about it in terms of how they explain it. INTP would be TiNe or TiSi. INTJ would be NiTe or NiFi.
      So INTP thinks their own reasons are the most important, and then either gathers new concepts or organizers facts.
      INTJ organizes concepts and abstract ideas, and either thinks others’ reasons are the most important, or their own values.
      FYI, Dave and Shannon typed me as NiTe (INTJ).

    • @unnamedmuffin
      @unnamedmuffin 6 років тому

      KayKayBayForever Thank you. I understand that these types are different in their functions, but I think they tend to behave similarly in real life and most people would put them into the same broad "nerdy" category. I also struggle to understand the difference between Ti and Fi, which is why I can't quite figure out my own type. I might be an Ni/Fi type or a Ti/Si type, or something else entirely.

    • @KayKayBayForever
      @KayKayBayForever 6 років тому +1

      Unnamed Muffin Yeah, I get it, it’s super hard to figure out your own type. Some ways to help that is to ask family and friends, “Am I more controlling or gathering?” etc. and then to think hard about how you actually act.
      For example, I first realized I had Te when different people guessed my type, and as each person guessed, I changed my guess to match theirs. Because their reasons seemed what I should go with over my own values or reasons. Then Dave and Shannon confirmed that when they typed me.
      So try going that route instead of thinking: INTP or INTJ??
      Try thinking, “In the end, do I immediately go with my own choice, or do I ask around and get others’ choices?” Once I really thought about it, I realized I asked others’ opinions even for what ice cream flavour for me to get. I am DEFINITELY Te.
      Then ask yourself, “In the end, do I feel more responsible for organizing or for gathering new ideas/information?”
      Figure out what makes you most upset, most anxious, what you feel responsible for, what your failings are. Look for the extremes, and that’ll usually be an indication. (It’s important that it’s the extremes because everybody does everything.)

    • @KayKayBayForever

      Unnamed Muffin And it looks like you already have an idea that you’re Organize and Self, rather than Tribe or Gather. So that’s a huge first step. In my opinion, the rest doesn’t matter all that much. And I can’t help you all that much with the differences between NiFi or TiSi or whatever. You could try watching Sam Harris videos, because I believe he’s a TiSi. And Dave himself is a NiFi.
      I’d suggest getting the F/T thing down first. Values or reasons? And you’ll use both of course, but which is, deep down, more important to you?

      Unnamed Muffin Also, FYI, I originally thought I was TiNe, then moved to NeTi, then SiTe, and finally got typed as NiTe. So I got closer and closer the more I thought about it, talked about it with my brother, watched their class videos, and realized what Te actually looks like, and what Organize actually looks like.

      Anthony, your comment shows little knowledge and insight. Often an ENFJ, because of his/her deep felt need to make the world a better place (because of them feeling other people's pain so much), searches for more knowledge and is willing to study hard and deeply think about what is taught, to do just that: make the world a better place. It is the ENFJ that will optimize a team, that will optimize a process and as such is often asking him/herself if anybody else is capable of some thinking for themselves, instead of just running after their own petty goals in life.

      This isn't beginner content. I didn't understand at first either. Check out Meghan Levota, Eric Thor, or whoever's content you are attracted to. And Objective Personalities class is amazing.

      Deanna Hunt I could do that and it would make it easier to understand by why do that when I could define my own personality
