Sorry for the newbie question but I’m researching which one I should get, I’m unsure if I want the 3/8 or the 1/2, I’m new to tools and don’t really know what those measurements tell me about the impacts driver, I’ll be in the plumbing trade so crazy torque isn’t mandatory, I’m also thinking I’d like to stick to all M18 tools and batteries or might that be a bad idea? Even if more expensive I’d rather spend the money now to get tools that will last a really long time with ease of use and less charging times/longer lasting batteries, thank you in advance for anyone willing to take the time to answer these questions

What does it mean when it says overload protection? Does this mean that when the stress of say screwing a screw into a concrete wall gets too much for the gun it will cut out? I bought this impact driver recently and whenever I try to screw or unscrew something slowly the gun cuts out. I was just wondering if this is supposed to happen

( I'm a jack all trade's LOL, but bill's paid !!)... really liked 2850, but can only use on My personal job's, these stupid kid's, (some,,,, some good or better than me), but can not trust them put #2 phillip in tv. n not break, or shear head off bed bolt !!! if not me using trigger, so me replacing 2850, with 2753, mode 1 on moving truck fix, n other work, I'm free use 2850 or 2853, ,,, all depend's on how we make $$Money !!!

Not a fan for one very easy reason. The light sucks. It doesn't aim even close to where you need it to. If you are working in dark or dim lit spaces, it is a joke. I would not recommend this tool to almost everyone. If you do not work in dark spaces often, but need to at some point, you will be disappointed when that time arises. I have almost all Milwaukee tools, I bought a Dewalt oscillating tool as a result of this impact driver. The new designer at my Milwaukee should not be overlooking such a simple yet necessary feature for as long as they have been a player in the game. Just my opinion of course, but no matter what brand you buy, keep an eye out for the little things that are not so little when you need them.

I have the Milwaukee M18 2656-20 model. I know you are featuring the 2850-21 and you have noted the deficiency with the chuck. As for my model #2656-20 (which I have had for 2 years), I have not had any problems with it. Though in fairness, I don't use it on a daily basis.
I think the model you are testing is a newer release from Milwaukee. Wonder if they went a bit on the cheap side with making it.
