- Ukranian President Victor Yanukovich has abandoned the capital, Kiev is under civilian control and the former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko has been freed from jail. And while his regime appears to be crumbling, Yanukovich is adamant he won't step down. Al Jazeera's Andrew Simmons reports from Kiev.
Too bad this can't happen in the USA, UK and Russia.

In the U.S., the impeachment process and separation of powers are working although they failed to convict any of their previous presidents (Andrew Johnson, Clinton, and Trump) that they impeached. Also, you can vote the president out of his office if he's running for reelection and this is practiced for 200+ years already in the U.S.
In the U.K., there is the system of motion of no confidence due to Britain's nature of being a parliamentary democracy, a prime minister and his government might be removed from power by a simple vote of parliament and this has been in practice for 300+ years already (probably longer than that since the parliament is established in 1215 but England's true constitutional monarchy period began in 1689).
In Russia, if you try to impeach President Putin, you'll see yourself assassinated by F.S.B. or Novichok. Another possible scenario is Russian tanks blasting the parliament building just like Yeltsin's impeachment turned-constitutional crisis in 1993.

Ukraine was better off under Yanukovych
Rightly so. He and the other responsible must be impeached and tried for their crimes. Ukraine must prove not only that they can defeat a dictator but also prove that they want freedom and the rule of law by treating Yanukovich.
You can’t be serious!! The west put there people there and over throw a government that was Ukraine/Russia like we do other countries!! It’s just not fair now look at Ukraine now!!

Yanukovych is a hero. Not a traitor portrayed by the neo-nazis/extremists/terrorists. He was a peaceful and clever ruler. Ukraine is better off under the rule of him. Ukraine under Zelensky is a torn country. 100 times worse off.

I agree. Yanukovych is the greatest President of Ukraine. He maintained a policy of peace and unity within Ukraine, accommodating the Russian speakers. He advocated for Ukraine's independence so it would not be dependent on the West.
I am glad you had a taste of democracy during the Crimean Referendum. It was sad that Yanukovych was overthrown in a coup.

I am from UK and sweden I was living in Dnipro and Rubizhne . I am telling you he’s the best and the last Ukrainian president that was smart enough to hold the country together. All that came after him and crocodiles who don’t care about the country and want money from the west
