I’m going to assume it’s common for older citizens of Armenian and Azerbaijan to be fluent in Russian?? It’s awesome to see different leaders of different countries communicate without someone translating
You know what, this is something I like to see, people having honest discussions. Very different from the staged collective west meetings where everybody already knows the next line, all they have to do is follow the script they were given. Kudos to Putin, to Russia for striving for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia. 👏
The incidents on the border with Azerbaijan, when the Russian Federation and Russia’s CSTO military bloc refused to fulfill their obligations to protect the sovereign territory of their ally, became a cause for discontent on the Armenian side. Another pain point for Armenia is the inaction of the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh to protect the Armenian population. Russia’s position is considered by a significant part of the Armenian society, politicians and analysts as incompatible with the status of a strategic ally. This is hardly a sign of cooperation.
Kudos to Putin? He has been letting armenia down over the last years, the nationalists of both countrys hate each other, but azerbeijan is in strong alignment with trukey, where they get weapons and drones, aswell as - believe it or not - Israel, because they have big tensions with Iran about an azerbeijan minority living in northern Iran, and Israel is just following an "enemy of my enemy is my firend" logic. Armenia on the other side has had only russia who were watching over their interest. But this protection has been weakened due to most of Russias military forces beeing engaged in Ukraine, enabeling azerbeijan to annex territory in armenia. Azerbeijan sits on vast oil and gas reserves, that brought them ahead of armenia in terms of economy, military and international relations. If armenia, which is still a democratic country and mostly a christian nation by the way, looses russias protection, azerbeijan might invade them soon. And Azerbejan is under control of the deeply corrupt Alief regime for 2 generations, since the illegal dissolution of the USSR.
even the freakin EU is on Azerbejans side in this conflict, because of course they are more interested in buying cheap gas then wheter a state has some form of democratic gouvernemnt or is led by an autocratic corrupt family dynasty

People in here really need to chill and stop seeing what they want to see instead of what really is going on. Leader of Armenia politely excused for interrupting in the middle of his speech, to which Putin turned to him and said a sentence that can be translated as "i am listening". Just in a more non formal, friendly way by saying "Yes? Please, you may continue. There was no shock, nothing. It was simply a way to show that "i am listening, i do care, please continue". That's all there is. His goal here is to help them to move closer to each other. Which is why he showed his full attention and didn't even bothered to continue his speech to show this attention.
His goal is to gain influence. He backed Armenia in their war with Azerbaijan which led to the annexation of Azerbaijan territory. As for politeness, they are in a formal setting, not small room where everyone freely chimes in adhoc. You can tell that Putin was taken by surprise with the interruption. Nevertheless, as a statesman should, he went with the flow. After all, he is not talking to his Russian subordinates, he is hosting a meeting with regional Presidents.

This is why Russia invaded Poland, Latvia, Finland, Estonia, and Lithuania years before they were even attacked by Hitler, yet Russia keeps claiming they were 'victims' in WWII. Stalin couldn't claim and call the newly invaded countries as part of Russia because that would be too blatant expansionism. Also, it doesn't fit in with the Russian psyche with them as the rulers of others. Kudos to Putin, to Russia for striving for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia. 👏
well they kinda didn't agree
@@pedromeneses9617 this is my personal opinion, I am not fully Armenian and have never lived there so I can’t speak for Armenians, but I think part of Russia’s action indirectly has to do with armenia seeking closer relations with the US or Europe. I don’t know, this is what I suspect

Stand with Armenia
Seemed pretty civil and professional to me……….
They are infront of many other people, what else do you expect? They can't afford scream at each other because ones reputation would be bad in the international scene. There is no other option but to behave.
@@alexandarthedivine it’s called diplomacy for a reason. Screaming and shouting never solves anything. When some shout, others stop listening.., so yes I expected exactly that they remain civil and cooperative. How else do you suggest one rounds this type of dialogue?
Wow
I'm impressed Azerbaijan president can speak Russian
Not only this, but in Armenia and Azerbaijan, pretty much the entire population speaks Russian. Both Pashinyan and Aliyev also lived their entire youth during the Soviet Union.
He also knows 7 languages
Why is that impressive? He grew up in the Soviet Union XD
@@9thOfMaythe older generations maybe but the younger generations don’t get taught Russian in school anymore
@@TurquazCannabiz but still many in Post Soviet States know Russian
Russian is lingua Franca of Central Asia, Caucasus and Eastern Europe

ILHAM Aliyev is very well educated.Well done❤
Bro caused a modern mass deportation
@politicstoday8002 No they leave volenteerly.
He is going to hell
He is educated yes, but in this clip he lied about it not being blocked, and he caused thousands of Armenians fleeing after the invation of Nagorno-Karabakh. He is corrupt and terrible leader.
@@steffen6987 Azerbaijan liberated Nagorno-Karabakh. It's not invasion. The world recognize it as Azerbaijani land
