@@fabik805 we'll my friend, just like this 13 year old post, one might look at Ukrainian history. It wasn't until 99 that Russian stopped being the 'official ' language however Russian was also declared 'constitutionally sovereign ' because all signs, schools, and municipalities were in Russian with 'many also in Ukrainian'. So whilst TODAY Russian is banned, until the war began it was constitutionally protected and just 5 years before that id was the official language, andddd... cherry on top prior to this it was part of the ussr where Russian was the official language. Actually, since this channel is a German channel and the interviewer was German (my assumption), and Yankuvich speaks both Russian and Ukrainian, it was easier for the Interviewer to understand russian than Ukrainian because she probably did not know Ukrainian (ukrainian being a less spoken language than Russian) This is very common for even timoshenko and Yushenko for when they visit Russia, becuase in Russia, they would speak it because they know it and they could communicate easier.
