      You should consider placing your mic somewhere else. There is a lot of huffing an puffing spread throughout the video. Don't get me wrong, it's a good video but these random puffing noises are really killing it for me.

    I make toast with an egg in the middle. Cut a 1 1/2 inch thick piece of bread, dig out the center. Take 1-2 eggs, whip them. Add fine cut hot peppers, fine cut cherry tomatoes, seasoning and pour into the bread. Put a small amount of shredded cheese on top. 385 for 9 minutes. My wife eats it with huge amounts of hot salsa!

    For frozen wings i find it better if you defrost in air fryer for 5 min at 350°. Then while it preheats to 400° i put the defrosted wings in a Ziploc and add i tablesoon corn starch shake to coat. Then in same bag add your favorite rub and shake to coat the back in air fryer at 400° for about 18 min. Crispy skin and better than wing stop!

    Those _bacon wrap smokies_ are our _pigs in blankets,_ a vital ingredient of a traditionl Christmas Day turkey dinner here in Britain, as are Brussels sprouts, great when charred in the a/f, and much tastier than when boiled. Yes, air fried chickpeas (I soak them overnight before cooking in my Instant Pot) are low fat, high protein, but as a boon for diabetics like me, low GI, and so snack-on-able. Lastly, Lisa, I do wish a very Happy New Year to one of my fave channels!

    Used my air fryer for the first time today. It was a freezed chicken patty and two strips of bacon. Both was done way quicker and more even than in the frying pan.
    I live in a one room apartment which means all the cooking smell lingers in my living/bedroom. Because of the air fryer it wasn't much of a problem today.

    If your experience is the same as ours, as one researches cooking techniques there are so many ways to cook in the air fryer. I like all your recipes but where I deviate is the pre-heat. I'm a big American Test Kitchen fan and bought one of their cookbooks. In it they say you don't need to pre-heat, this mirrors my experience as I have tried both pre-heat and no pre-heat, I can't tell the difference. The area is so small that it heats up quickly regardless of preheat or not. I did add one minute added to the cook time for a pre-heat while the item was being cooked but I stopped doing that, the only results were an increased risk of over doneness. I might add, we own the Ninja dual fryer so the baskets are a little smaller than your single basket. The nice thing with the Ninja duel basket is you can synchronise cooking times, so if the left basket is 400 F for 20 minutes and the right basket is 350 for 13 minutes, the machine will hold the right basket to kick in at the right time so both are done at the same time.

    I just got that model she's using. First thing I did was two frozen chicken breasts. Little olive oil on the outside, Smokehouse Maple seasoning. Put about 1/4 of water in the bottom at 375, took 20 minutes. Perfection! Looking into replacing the nonstick tray with one that isn't coated (don't like the chemicals).

    I'm the guy that has 2 air fryers. One of them doubles as a toaster, proofing oven, general convection oven (because that's what an air fryer really is...) and the other has two different baskets, that can cook things at two different temps for 2 different times. The bad part of that is that each of the baskets is only half the size. So you can see why I have that convection oven/air fryer/proofing oven.
    Coincidentally, that convection oven/air fryer/proofing oven/toaster/roaster/etc (there's about 19 things it'll do) works a treat for proofing bread dough.

    • @reginaschellhaas1395
      @reginaschellhaas1395 Рік тому

      What temperature do you use to proof the bread dough?

    • @Estranged180
      @Estranged180 Рік тому +1

      @@reginaschellhaas1395 Between 90°F and 115°F. That should do it in any proofing box. I once tried it in my oven, and it basically killed the yeast, baked the bread too soon, and ruined the thing. Ovens can't go that low, hence the need for a second air fryer that doubled as a proofing oven (it was one of it's selling points, and the reason I paid more than $200 for it)

    • @reginaschellhaas1395
      @reginaschellhaas1395 Рік тому

      @@Estranged180 Thank you! We just purchased a Gourmia 7Qrt for $40 at Costco. Shockingly, my non-cooking husband saw it, recommended because he listens to "A Splendid Table". Figured we couldn't go wrong for $40. And we can upgrade if we love and want to invest. As we get older (two seniors) safety and convenience are going to be worth extra $$$. My forearms don't heal as well from smacking on the sides of the oven, plus my balance is going a bit. Could fall in head first, not good.
      I have a 18yr old duel-fuel range, love the convection, but can't set it low enough to proof, unless I heat and fiddle. Or I had the dead yeast problem, food and effort lost, I feel your pain! . Decades past I used to heat towels in the dryer, set bread in to proof. Absolute disaster was one button away!
      I'm in my mid-sixties, and I can see the traditional "range" that I grew up with being supplanted by these small, hopefully energy efficient appliances. At this point in life, I would miss my gas burners, but I think I could adapt to sautéing in my Instant Pot. Winter is my bread baking time, but we barely had a winter in NC, not cold enough to heat the big oven. So I'm going to try an AF rolls receipt. Thanks for the proofing temps! May all your bread rise well and cook to perfection!

    • @Estranged180
      @Estranged180 Рік тому +1

      @@reginaschellhaas1395 All good, but there's more to the story. Apparently, our oven doesn't like baking bread, so I had to find a decent solution. When I say that 'we're not made of money', things sound a little odd when I say them. Things like 'finding a solution to baking fresh bread'.
      The solution came in the form of a Zojirushi bread oven. This thing is amazing, and it's worth the cost. Here's what it does.
      It came with measuring cups, a measuring spoon, and a liquid measuring cup. It also came with two recipe books for all the bread you could possibly want, but one of them is, oddly enough, in French. Find the recipe in the book for the bread you want to make, dump the ingredients into the pan, and choose your darkness preference. Then sit back, do nothing, and let it do it's job. I don't have many single use items in my kitchen, fire extinguisher being one of the only ones. This bread oven will mix, rest, rise, punch down, rise, and bake a loaf of bread. Or, if you choose, you can tell it not to bake the bread, and you can use the dough for pizza (has it's own recipe for that) or rolls. It makes a 2 lb loaf. I use it about twice a week, because bread prices have gone haywire.

    • @reginaschellhaas1395
      @reginaschellhaas1395 Рік тому

      @@Estranged180 Finding a solution makes perfect sense, especially if you can produce bread that you love, vs a loaf that's a of waste ingredients and time! Your Zojirushi bread oven seems to fit the bill. Thanks for telling me about it. And some sort of bread is "the staff of life" for many cultures and people around the world. Very valuable!
      My first experience with a bread oven was in mid/late 1990s. My friend group had "potlucks" for the ten of us, every 2 months. One friend always offered to make bread in her bread machine....she was a wealthy woman, could afford the best. The bread was horrible, not only dry (butter could be added, of course!) but flavorless. At first, I thought this was "just one batch". But no, the second dinner was the same. I avoided the bread plate from then on.
      Evidently, bread machine/ ovens have advanced over the decades, and I trust your judgment and "good taste", heh, heh! I will keep this in mind, and you have described it so well, thank you! But, I haven't bought any sort of bread for well over a year. In our 2 person senior citizen home, bread is a huge treat! Making bread in winter 2021/22 was like serving dessert. But it never got cold 2022/23.
      So I will use your proofing instructions, and try to make a small batch of rolls, after finding a recipe for the AF on another channel. Should be enough for two people, and I can do another batch, based on your proofing instructions. Thank you so much!

    Not eco friendly but using air fryer liners does save on clean up for messy foods.

    Love your videos, but as a guy that spent 30 years in Seattle please dont listen to the FDA on the 145 for salmon....I get it, they need to cover their you know what, but it will be dry and boring. I've cooked our salmon to 125 for years and have never had issues plus it stays moist and juicy.....just my 2 cents

    Us in the UK are bewildered by the US delight in chicken wings. A British chicken wing is just a bit of bone and skin, nothing to eat there. Is there a special breed of chook with big meaty wings?

      ITS NOT FRAYER ITS FRYER

    • @gerriebell2128

      @foodlifedairywithnargisahm5081 an air fryer is just a small “convection oven”. The “unsafe” part would be cooking too many foods at too high temperatures, such as 400 degrees, which can be solved by having lower temperatures such as 380. Occasionally cooking at 400 degrees (200 C) is not bad. Another “unsafe” part of air fryer cooking would be spraying the food with a type of oil that is unhealthy. Avocado oil or olive oil are both good oils. But the pros are that you don’t have to cook as long, and can use lower temperatures, you don’t have to use your big oven, and you can put the food right in the basket, no pan needed, at least with the basket type machine. Cooking a packaged food, you lower the temperature on the package by 25 degrees, and cook 10% less minutes. And you can “fry” things in an air fryer instead of deep frying them, much healthier.
