      Someone (Eric) had to submit a report for the cheater to be caught. Apparently his toggling strategy was bypassing the detection algorithm.

    this is actually a great way to gain elo. lose to a known cheat. win back against other players and get to somewhere around you started with. cheater gets banned and you gain the elo points back. now you have more elo than you started

      It's not finding the move, it's how quickly they found the move. And it's not intuitive to move a piece one square forward - onto a dangerous square - just to prevent a pawn from pushing and breaking a pin. It's a weird move, and something none of us would play in that time.

      Bth I don’t understand why are you asking me this, but here we go.
      He wasn’t banned the same way you aren’t after creating a new account and for slaughtering first 20, 50 or whatever players to get to your level. In case of new account (like this one) it requires some time to confirm performance at given level.
      On similar basis Hans’s case is that he rapidly started outperforming he’s colleagues who had much better history, and breaks general pattern of “normal” pro chess player progress. His case is based on years of playing though

    I've noticed a lot cheaters are throwing games, hanging pieces and missing mates on purpose. I guess to avoid cheat detection. The other day I had a guy who had the most obvious mate in 1 and before he gave away a bishop when there is no way even a begginer wouldn't play the mate in 1.

    Cheaters are so obvious... In this case, they are cheating when they "think" for exactly one second. Despite the stupidity of cheating in online chess (I don't understand why people do it since ELO is virtual), as a developer, it would be really easy to add random time between moves and alternative moves instead of the main line. Once these features are added to the software they are using, that's when you will never be able to tell again if someone is cheating.

      To make it fully detection proof, the human would need to input the moves, a bot just can’t such understanding yet, for example calculating a multiple move line where u sacrifice a piece, it would take a human a certain amount of time to see it, and then blitz out the next few moves, a bot just can’t understand when to do that, same with recaptures, for example they take your queen with their queen, and u take it back, its gonna be instant for humans, but a bot just cant know when to do that

    There are still autoplayers out there. Programs that play moves automatically. Just have to have it on low depth so it can play fast. Even at 10-12 is enough depth to beat anyone in the world

      i believe the losses are intentional. erics elo is 300~ higher, so even losing 4-6, he actually still gained a lot of elo. the losses are just to try and avoid detection and give the appearance of a "real" player
