A flat earther died and went to heaven. Upon reaching the pearly gates he asked God, God will you please tell me once and for all, what shape did you make the earth? God spoke unto the flerf, "my son, I made the earth a globe you science denying windowlicker." To which the flat earther said, OMG this conspiracy runs deeper than i thought!!
Blasphemy masquerading as comedy… I’d go further, but not sure you’re worthy of the effort. There’s a number of factors that contribute to intelligence, but I think the most necessary for learning is to be able to admit that I might be wrong, in whatever assumptions you may have made. That said, how many proofs would you need to reconsider any previously held belief? Would it take one, three - five, maybe six?… how many? And, are you willing to look? Once you answer those questions, you can start learning. Look into water first - the properties of water. Water requires a container, and when it’s at rest, it seeks its own level, and the surface of water is always flat. For now, you’re just gathering information - what we know. Now, look at the globe earth cosmology - most people do not know the numbers - circumference, diameter, etc… I didn’t - not completely anyway - not since school. But, I do now, and honestly, it doesn’t “math” out. I am really good at math, by the way - and I was an easy A student all through school. Many of my classmates got through school copying off my papers. Did I suddenly get dumber?… no, I don’t think so - I think I woke up, to borrow a phrase. How many proofs do you need to question things? That’s for you to decide - but you should try to focus your efforts on what you don’t know, not what you think you know. How many perfectly flat spots are on a ball? None, to my knowledge, but I’d suggest you look into the Bolivian Salt Flats - 100 miles wide, 80 miles deep - and one half inch of rain turns it into a giant mirror. It’s a wedding destination - because of the amazing photographs taken there. How about the Bonneville Salt Flats - 21 miles, end to end - absolutely, perfectly flat. They drag race cars there - speeds well over 200+ miles per hour - a quarter inch deviation in the ground at that speed and you’re airborne… Ships that supposedly go over the curve can be brought back into perfect view, miles and miles out to sea… The Black Swan platforms - mountain ranges in the distance that should be miles below the curve - yet completely visible… So I ask you once again, smart guy - how many proofs do you need to question your reality? That’s entirely up to you - thanks for entertaining me with your ignorance. Ignorance just means you are ignoring something - and in this case, it’s facts. Don’t feel bad, instead stop being ignorant. Stop ignoring the facts. Try that instead. 😉😂😂😂🤷♂️

Flat Earthers get upset when I point out that a Flat Earth wouldn't have a horizon - and said horizon would not recede as our distance from the ground increased.
I've had the opportunity to face this in person and let one of them view Saturn and m13 through my telescope. Still the response was "it's fake". I'm at a loss.
Early church authorities refused to look through telescopes. They thought the images were created by demons. There is the answer to their reasoning: Willful stupidity.

@pandakicker1 multiple videos of stars seen through the moon. Multiple experiments were done to replicate the crater effect using electricity and plasma. The fact that we only ever see one side is statistically impossible for the globe model. The fact that the quality of moonlight is the opposite to sunlight goes against laws of physics when it comes to reflected light. The fact that calculating the luminosity of the moon using laws of physics (the inverse square law of light) and working out that a single square foot of the lunar surface would have to be almost 10,000 lumens makes the moon landing impossible and also the moon reflecting sunlight theory also redundant.

He thought that up was above the north pole and down was below the south pole... into space. I tried to explain earth's tilt and the seasons(he thought summer occurred at the same time worldwide. Same for winter), the tilt of the entire solar system in our galaxy, objects being pulled to the centre of mass- ie: gravity, moon phases, solar and lunar eclipses, 24 hour daylight in the north and south polar regions, satelites in orbit both man-made and natural and more. His brain simply couldn't grasp anything more complex than water is wet. It was like trying to explain why grass is green and he could only understand the "grass is green" bit and nothing else. Sadly, there are many people who simply can't grasp anything complex intellectually and that's because their physical brains have never formed the neural connections that would allow for higher cognitive processing of complex data.

Personally i think the flat earth "movement" at least in part stems from the human desire "to know something, someone else doesn't" with a total disregard of reality itself
A lot of it is down to some grifters using it to attract people to their UA-cam channel. They persist with it because they get an income from it. A 2021 survey of USA citizens had about 25% of Gen X, millennials and Gen Z either not believing the Earth is a globe of being doubtful about the Earth being a globe. That's a lot of potential income for a grifter to target.
I'm beginning to believe the only way to deal with this is to totally ignore it. I think by acknowledging these people we're giving them what they want. I'm willing to bet that the really famous flat earthers that make all the UA-cam content don't believe this at all and just do it for the recognition and money. Seeing respected scientists debating these people is cringeworthy. And paying $35000 a piece to take people to Antarctica to show them something that is 100% known as fact seems to be such a waste. On the other hand the growing trend of science denial is real and dangerous so it seems like we can't let it go unchallenged.
The growing trend of science denial is a huge issue, and may be largely attributed to two factors. Most flat earthers come from the USA, which can probably be attributed to declining educational standards, or education becoming inaccessible due to skyrocketing costs. The other factor is the internet. In the early days, it was thought the internet would make it possible for people to communicate, share ideas and grow, but what has actually happened is it has become compartmentalized into echo chambers that radicalize many people. Because of this, science denial is on the rise. At this time, 2% of Americans believe Earth is flat, a number that is far larger than that of the world prior to the internet.
@@SKYST0RY I agree with you totally on the internet aspect, before the internet people with such beliefs were subjected to the scorn and ridicule of the family, friends, co-workers and such, now with the internet they can find each other and form a community. I break flat Earthers into three categories: 1. The uninformed- those who were never very interested in science and came to flat Earth either through religion or happenstance (saw a video) . These folk are by far the easiest to talk to as by and large they still can think critically if given the facts. 2. The mentally disabled- those who are simply incapable of comprehending how the world works, regardless of how it is explained to them. Herein lies the greatest Dunning-Kruger effect. Those in this category can pose a danger to themselves and others if their worldview is challenged . 3. The con artist- Not much needs to be said about these folk. They make a living off the first two categories and IMHO don't for a moment believe the lies they are spewing.
The 3rd categories can divided into arrogant or trolling/grifter Most arrogant flerfs insanely thinking, they against authority by denial to normal science

He claims to be a 'Demonstrable Realist Earther' (as you say, they can make stuff up) and therefore disavows the AE map with a hovering sun model...but never offers up any alternative. Well if people can doubt the physics of “globe earth” (and all that goes with it, like a heliocentric solar system, galaxies, etc), what chance is there on subjects like pizzagate or pandemic conspiracies; that only require a conspiracy (one less extensive than a flat earth conspiracy) and no laws of physics broken.
All they need to do is look at engineering and/or land surveying textbooks and see the definition for "level surface" and that theory is bust. The entire definition of level is based on gravity on a globe - a surface which at every point is perpendicular to the plumb line or the direction in which gravity acts.
It's hard to believe that flat earthers genuinely hold their views; it seems more like a desire to be different or contrary just for the sake of argument.
I've used eq telescope mounts for 30 years. If the following is untrue, you can physically debunk it, but you can't. Eq mounts when tracking a fixed position reveal earth spin. An equatorial mount works by aligning one of its rotational axes with the Earth's rotational axis, allowing a telescope to track celestial objects by simply rotating along that axis at the same rate as the Earth spins, effectively keeping the target object centered in the viewfinder as the Earth rotates; this aligned axis is typically pointed towards the North Celestial Pole, usually using the Polaris star for precise alignment, and is often referred to as the "polar axis" or "right ascension" axis. Polar alignment: The crucial step is to accurately align the polar axis of the mount with the Earth's rotational axis, usually by using a polarscope to center Polaris within the viewfinder. Single axis tracking: Once aligned, tracking a celestial object only requires rotating the telescope along the polar axis at a constant speed (sidereal rate) to match the Earth's rotation. Declination axis: The other axis of an equatorial mount, perpendicular to the polar axis, is called the declination axis, allowing movement up and down in the sky to point at different objects. Benefits for astrophotography: Equatorial mounts are particularly well-suited for astrophotography because they allow for smooth tracking of celestial objects, minimizing star trails in long exposures. How to use an equatorial mount: 1. Align to the pole: Use a polarscope to precisely align the polar axis of the mount with the North Celestial Pole (usually by centering Polaris in the viewfinder). 2. Locate the target: Point the telescope towards the desired celestial object using the declination axis. 3. Engage tracking: Start the motor on the polar axis to rotate the telescope at the sidereal rate, keeping the object centered in the view.

The sun setting over the horizon and not "shrinking" into a vanishing point as a flat earth model proposes was enough for me day 1. I'd still see a good amount of light if the sun was still above the horizon - and if it were a "spotlight" then it would have to be a disc too, in which case it would start to be more disc shaped on the horizon (like a frisbee).
Also, you can't still see a spotlight, even when your not under its beam of light. Ie street lights. You can still see them WELL outside of it's cone of light.
A spotlight shining down would look round overhead but would become what is called a foreshortened circle as it moves away, which the sun doesn't do, so it's not a spotlight

Have you actually seen curvature from up there? And why was the horizon at eye level for Stratos Baumgartner at 34km, which is 115,550ft. Fun fact for you, it's easy to make a spirit eye level indicator from 2 airline cups and some liquid on an aircraft 😉 the horizon during level flight is typically between 3.4 and 3.6 degrees dip from eye level, I always get a window seat. It matches the proper curve calculator not the fake ones FE uses, try walter.bislins.ch/bloge/index.asp?page=Advanced%20Earth%20Curvature%20Calculator, which also correctly predicts when land starts being visible, roughly 245 miles. For comparison, modern aircraft have the live maps, tells you exactly where you are! Cool 😎 Nice try but there was no specific eye level versus horizon measurements done on the Stratos Baumgartner high dive, if you wanna take it to the calculator, the horizon would have been an almost 6 degree dip, and a viewable distance of 414 miles. Facts provided to you by grifters claiming a flat earth are NOT facts. If you think they can tell where eye level is from any image taken during that flight, your a F00L. Let me ask you this, if humidity prevents me from seeing to the distant horizon, on a clear day, how come I can see the full size, full moon rising in the daytime on the horizon (the sun setting opposite) with such amazing visible detail!? Here's another horizon conundrum, how high is the top of the firmament? Isn't the star Polaris at the top too! No one in the southern hemisphere can see it, wtf? The simple fact that Polaris even comes close to the horizon anywhere on the world, is impossible on a flat earth. Tell me how high the dome is and I'll calculate the angle it should be seen at, if the earth were flat, from Australia 🤓 You can give yourself all kinds of reasons to be lazy and believe in pseudo science and memes from grifters, or you can make an intelligent choice and understand the real science. Not saying you should be a scientist, but you should at least give more credit to people who have devoted their entire lives to the sciences and develop our technology based on that. If you want something to hit you like a wall, in summary, the statistical probability of a flat Earth conspiracy involving governments and scientists is virtually zero. The evidence supporting a spherical Earth is overwhelming and comes from multiple, independent sources, like technological evidence, global collaborations, scientific consensus, psychological factors, known physics, astronomical navigation, geological evidence, historical consistency, public access to information and of course, visual evidence. And all you focus on is 1 faked fact on the word of some grifter on UA-cam 🤣 Good luck with that.

The god that they believe in, it resembles a man with magic powers that likes to contradict himself. I really don’t believe in the vengeful god. Cause it really doesn’t make any sense. How can god love us and also punish us for all eternity if we do wrong. If that’s the kind of love he has, that means that us humans can love more than him. Since I’m sure that most of us would never punish some we love, in that way.
The bible says nothing about flat earth. The best they come up with is when it says Earth has a foundation in the creation story, even though its not an ex-nihilo (from nothing) story and is a chaos to order story (both are) instead possibly referring to the foundation of a society from primitive humans
a tiny god only capable of making a snow globe earth means he is close to them and they are the center of creation. it's nothing more than religious hubris.
A spherical earth in space has naturalistic explanations to its existence, and they can’t have that. A pizza-world under a dome is impossible, therefore it needs a creator.

You have the grifters like Dave Weiss, Dubay, Witzit, the Nathans, that key into those people who are vulnerable. When Ranty got out and he did some reflection vidoes he talked about the tragedy that got him down this path, I feel probably a sizable portion who got sucked in were seeking answers as to "why this things happened" and the algorithm served them this farce.
There are two opposing errors in this subject. 1, that everything is a conspiracy. 2, that there has never been a conspiracy, and that every official narrative is perfectly complete and true in all details.

Space is just a construct your mind makes up and it does so because it works and you have a so called 3D view of the world which allows you to live , catch food, etc. It was selected by evolution. So you can look at the stars and see the sun set and rise. It doesn't mean space is real. If the universe is information based then it could be completely different from what we think it is.

In the exceedingly rare instances I bother to talk with flat earthers, it is never to debate. Debating with a cultist is pointless. They have a position, and they fit the facts to the position, and their social standing and sense of ego depends on defending that position. So, yes, you are right to point out the absurdity. In point of fact, the best way to communicate with them is to use methods similar to any cult deprogramming.
There’s a rather good take on this in an old episode of Philosophy Tube (back before Ollie turned it over to Abigail)- basically, the non-grifters glom onto it as a way to perceive themselves as part of an Enlightened In-group that knows The Hidden Truth and not have to accept that they’re just one of a large number of short-haired apes with weirdly big brain cases. …which is not far from the explanation of how cults work at the start of this video, now that I think about it. A similar sort of self-delusion can be seen in guys who pride themselves on wearing the same size of trousers as they did when the were The Star Quarterback in high school and are therefore still powerful athletes, regardless of the fact that those trousers cling to their hips below a great quivering swag of belly and they need to sit down for a while after climbing a single flight of stairs. Self-improvement by reality denial.

Watch the teachings about cults starting at 4:30 again, except this time hypothetically interpret the cult as the collective of power structures that taught you that you live on a globe, that outer space is real, etc. This fits precisely with how those power structures (and their believers) operate. Moreover, it's just so fascinating to me that virtually every Anti-FE'er video has a section on cults that perfectly describes Heliocentrists. Perfectly. To the point it's actually hard to believe this isn't noticed by the content creator, which is why I ask to watch it over again while hypothetically granting what I described. The ability to at least consider hypotheticals is a sign of intelligence. The inability to do so is a sign of extreme dogmatic zealotry - or, cult-like behavior.

Now, look at the globe earth cosmology - most people do not know the numbers - circumference, diameter, etc…
I didn’t - not completely anyway - not since school.
They drag race cars there - speeds well over 200+ miles per hour - a quarter inch deviation in the ground at that speed and you’re airborne…
Ships that supposedly go over the curve can be brought back into perfect view, miles and miles out to sea…
The Black Swan platforms - mountain ranges in the distance that should be miles below the curve - yet completely visible…
So I ask you once again, smart guy - how many proofs do you need to question your reality?
That’s entirely up to you - thanks for entertaining me with your ignorance.
Ignorance just means you are ignoring something - and in this case, it’s facts.
Don’t feel bad, instead stop being ignorant. Stop ignoring the facts.

I came across one man who couldn't mentally visualise the shape of the earth. He thought everything on earth was being pulled below the planet.

A lot of it is down to some grifters using it to attract people to their UA-cam channel. They persist with it because they get an income from it.

Polar alignment:
The crucial step is to accurately align the polar axis of the mount with the Earth's rotational axis, usually by using a polarscope to center Polaris within the viewfinder.
Single axis tracking:
Once aligned, tracking a celestial object only requires rotating the telescope along the polar axis at a constant speed (sidereal rate) to match the Earth's rotation.
Declination axis:
The other axis of an equatorial mount, perpendicular to the polar axis, is called the declination axis, allowing movement up and down in the sky to point at different objects.
Benefits for astrophotography:
Equatorial mounts are particularly well-suited for astrophotography because they allow for smooth tracking of celestial objects, minimizing star trails in long exposures.
How to use an equatorial mount:
1. Align to the pole:
Use a polarscope to precisely align the polar axis of the mount with the North Celestial Pole (usually by centering Polaris in the viewfinder).
2. Locate the target:
Point the telescope towards the desired celestial object using the declination axis.
3. Engage tracking:
Start the motor on the polar axis to rotate the telescope at the sidereal rate, keeping the object centered in the view.

Cool 😎
Nice try but there was no specific eye level versus horizon measurements done on the Stratos Baumgartner high dive, if you wanna take it to the calculator, the horizon would have been an almost 6 degree dip, and a viewable distance of 414 miles. Facts provided to you by grifters claiming a flat earth are NOT facts. If you think they can tell where eye level is from any image taken during that flight, your a F00L. A properly targeted experiment using actual math and easily observable verifications are facts. You can give yourself all kinds of reasons to be lazy and believe in pseudo science and memes from grifters, or you can make an intelligent choice and understand the real science.
During my time in the Air Force, I had a debate with someone from another department who refused to believe that the Earth is a sphere, no matter what evidence was presented. It was so absurd that I felt like I was arguing with a child.

Is it relevant? Oh, let me guess, your argument is, that since “CGI” exists, no actual photos or videos can exist. Am I correct?
@@xluumu No, that a classical 'false binary'.
Explanation:
This is an example of the False Dichotomy (also known as False Binary or Black-and-White Thinking) fallacy, combined with a Hasty Generalization. The argument assumes that because CGI technology exists and can create fake content, ALL photos and videos must therefore be fake or untrustworthy.
This ignores the reality that:
1. Both real and manipulated/CGI content can coexist
2. There are various technical and forensic methods to verify authentic footage
3. Many photos and videos were taken before CGI technology existed
4. Real events continue to be documented through genuine photography and videography alongside the existence of CGI
The reasoning is similar to saying "since forgery exists, no genuine signatures can exist" or "since fiction books exist, no true historical accounts can exist." It's an oversimplified conclusion that fails to acknowledge the nuanced reality that both authentic and artificial content can coexist in our world.

2. Exhibits defensive thinking - Creating a pre-emptive shield against having to engage with contradictory evidence

This suggests someone who may be:

2. Experiencing anxiety about having their worldview challenged

@JohnSmith-ux3tt If it was ball it wouldn't look so flat?
@@LCKRD-un1rx Sure it would. When you look over the ocean it looks flat, right? But even flat earthers know that the tide is always going in or out, and it's not at the same level everywhere. So the ocean has to be curved even if the earth were flat. The human eye isn't perfect. Some things are too small to see.
@@LCKRD-un1rx
your EEG is flat. the earth is a sphere.
_"If it was ball it wouldn't look so flat?"_
sadly you're just not intelligent enough to understand what you see.
Space is just the lack of air, unless it is how much space is left on a hard drive, so I prefer "cosmos" as in cosmology.
10:21 Starting here, we see the usual gish gallop of appeal to personal incredulity fallacies. He's conflating the act of asking questions about Flat Earth - very basic questions, all of which have been answered countless times by FE'ers for a decade now - with proving that Earth's surface curves.
Asking questions about a competing Cosmology can never prove your Cosmology is true. I have no idea why so many Anti-FE'ers reason this way, but it's demonstrably fallacious.
Where is your FE map? What does it look like? These are two questions not answered by FE'ers - you are a religious cultist.
@nightjarflying All maps are flat.
@@nightjarflying It is funny that you continued the gish gallop of fallacies by asking another question as if the act of asking questions proves the globe.
That is a legitimate sign of indoctrination that you guys truly believe doing that is a knock-down argument
@@nightjarflying The only thing asking questions can prove is that the person asking them isn't informed regarding the answer.
@@lightbeforethetunnel You claimed that "very basic questions, [all of which] have been answered countless times by FE'ers for a decade now" - this is an obvious lie as YOU can't answer my two very basic questions.
If you dismiss questions as a "Gish gallop" it's clear that you are not in the business of assessing evidence.
BTW a "Gish gallop" is when an opponent is confronted with a rapid series of "specious arguments, half-truths, misrepresentations, and outright lies that are impossible to refute within the format of the debate" [Collins]. Posing simple questions & waiting for answers is NOT a Gish gallop - you have an education, but it's misapplied.
