    This is the information I looked for.
    Thanks to it I've found that in Vauxhall/Opel Zafira A and Astra G (and probably in all others of that generation) "key" wire is located in ISO connector on Pin 1 (thin blue/red wire). Beware because there are two blue/red wires - one is marked on drawings as remote control (so that what we need) and second is named as speed meter (I think it may be changing audio volume according to car speed).
    So that wire has resistance of 3,2KOhm and when pressing buttons the resistance falls to values from 1500 Ohm down to 150 Ohm - depending which button is being pressed.
    I guess that should work with all these cheap touchscreen radios - very goo idea they had indeed that they've made that feature.

So you must put a jump resistance back going to the computer of car. You need a factory manual to see what your steering wheel switches are.

    Hello, I am having trouble with a Joying Head unit with Intel Sofia 3GR for Ford Focus 2012 Titanium and SWC. My buttons are all mixed, when I press a button the app recognizes but the values are too low.
    On the SWC app, the resistance numbers are all around 30 by default, when I press a button it changes to 16, 20, too low values.
    About wiring we are taking the ground from the head unit itself, and tested with Key1 and Key2 separately. On the car side everything is fine. We placed a multimeter in the car wires directly to see what the car sends to the player and the multimeters reads resistances around 250, 500, 1000, 150. All high and different.
    So we took an arduino with some resistor and simulated the Steering Wheel buttons and we were not able to make it read values over 30, only small values. We tested Key1 wire and Key2 Wire.

      Igo Amorim hmm interesting. I know modern cars use canbus to control the head unit. I had hell with a Volvo trying to get a head unit to work with the steering controls. I never did get them to work.
      What I did was ground one wire from the steering wheel controls then just connect the other one to the key 1. I do not know any other way you could do it. Maybe connect both wires to key one and key two.

      @@axl5190 easy way to do it is to earth one wire from the steering wheel as it should have 2 wires coming from it.. then connect the other wire to key 1 or 2. ( it does not matter which one as you only use one of the "key" wires). Then it will see it as a resistance value.. given it's not canbus..

    So i have 2 wires on my head unit( it is the same like yours)KEY 1 and KEY2. The car is Peugeot 207 and i checked on Wiring Diagram of factory radio and there are two position CAN data low and CAN data high. Which cable i will must to connect to work perfectly? Thank in advance

      Sadly if it is canbus you will need an adaptor decoder. Don't cut through any car wires.. go on ebay or where ever and get one of the connects2 wiring harness. Make sure it is for a generic or learning type head unit. You will then have 1 or 2 output wires and an earth. Just connect one of the output wires to one of the key wires and the earth to the earth on the radio harness.

      @@johndragonman No do not have a canbus for head unit. I think that must to connect for these 2 cables which i have in my car. but how to connect KEY1 to Can data low or Can data high. Also i think that must be connect KEY2 to ground cable of Head unit. What do you think?

    • @johndragonman
      @johndragonman  4 роки тому

      @@petarpetrov2893 like i say, CAN data (canbus) is a digital system, you need to have a decoder to listen to the specific code that is generated when you press a button on the steering wheel. the decoder will then convert the digital signal to a analogue restive signal that the head unit will be looking for. sadly i cant post links but if you google "canbus to restive headunit adaptor" you will see how it works :)

    i have the same "steering control app" and its showing 255 on all of them and no matter what button i press it doesn't do anything BUT the steering buttons actually work perfectly its only not letting me "rebind them to my liking" any ideas why is this happening ?

      @@johndragonman I do appreciate your feedback guy! But yeah Its got me thinking itll work because... I just made some jumper wires with some strait pins soldered to a couple wires.... was just pluggin and playin... and while I was doing that, with the car on and in the steering wheel control menu up... there were 2 places on the connector where... when I stuck the key wire in... it would, "beep" and select whatever selection it was on, and if Id pull it out and put it back in it beeps and highlights the next one down the line...! I just work nights and its a bitch doing this sort of thing in the dark😅 thanks again Ill keep you updated!
