That drum sound at the beginning is called a Tabla. It’s an Indian percussion instrument. It takes years to master! Here’s a wiki link: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabla Edit: Thanks to a helpful comment in the thread I thought I’d add that he’s triggering the tabla sounds through mandala pads. Here’s a link to Danny’s mandala pads info: synesthesiacorp.com/danny-carey
Fun fact that part at the beginning that's doing the waaa wa waaaa is the bass. When he starts that bass riff your referring to he actually trades off the riff to Adam
As long as I live, I’ll never forget the moment I first heard that part. 13 years of waiting, anticipation. Lying down in the dark, headphones on, soaking in that first minute or so and then Justin’s bass comes bouncing in like that and the biggest grin comes over my face
After listening to this a few times, I can clearly hear influences from every album they've done. From the tribal sound, to the guitar structure. All the albums are represented through each transition.
thatone guy Nice analysis and I would tend to agree. It feels like a new mixing pot with its own flavour. Less kick, more refinement. I mean, just listen to how accurate Maynard controls his voice. Surgical precision.
@thatone guy Yup, they're designed that way for a reason... Now layer the tracks together from all the albums (the way they were intended) and you get whole new songs.
Loved your enthusiasm and stories in recalling how you got into Tool and how long you’ve loved them, coming from someone only just really getting into this band and i’m also incredibly excited for the new album even as a new fan. Great vid man
I love it , been a fan since 94. I’m older now 42. I feel this song , maybe this album was meant for me. Not me personally . I don’t know it’s hard to explain. This song is exactly what I hoped for . Don’t need the screaming anymore.
49 but feel 20 when I listen to this tune. After 12 listens I am addicted to this song. Fav. part is the whole thing. Beginning is ethereal and magical, the middle is a journey, the end is freaking full on, just awesome.
It's a tabla. The instrument you couldn't place in the beginning. Danny Carey has been a student of Aloke Dutta. I think he has digitally fed the sounds onto his mandala drums. Anyways a big thanks from India. Spiral out.
Abhijeet Bhatt Thanks, Abhijeet!! To be honest I’m proud just to have recalled “mandala” but your response means maybe I was a little right. Haha. Not a musician, myself. :D Love hearing where people are watching from. High five back at you from Scotland!
I'm not a musician either. Haha It's just that the tabla is very common here. Did anybody pre order yet? Apparently it's way too expensive to get a CD shipped to my country. Above $70 to be exact. Think I'll wait till August 30th.
It's great watching you work through it man. All those stages. It's been non stop on 4 devices for me on repeat since it dropped. Fun watching you man.
Cheers, Mike. Years of passion baked a nice little pie in this one. I like re-watching it to taste the relief-filled surprise and to celebrate all over again. Thanks for the pat on the back, mate.
I love your expressions. That's exactly how I felt too! Eyes closed, big smile on my face, full of energy and covered in goosebumps. Such an experience!
The only band that does it to me. It will be a sad day when there is a punctuation mark following their legacy, but for now, I will continue to grin ear to ear and revel in what feels like heaven.

I’m the same exact way bro. Tool Always takes a few listens to sink in. First listen was ok for me.. then on the second and third listen I was absolutely floored. God I love this band.
Eddie Cardwell are you serious this is ass its a dude saying random shit with a rock background tell me whats so good about this remind you this piece of shit took 13 years to make
Thank you, Lu! A lot of new faces showing up with this one and so many wonderful comments... from all over the planet. This is definitely one of the things Maynard wished on us... to connect. And one day soon; it will be easy to do that in a more realistic way without hopping on a plane. I look forward to that.
This whole album is about personal growth!! Hints the recast my tale. Showing the new side of him. Most fans that don't like this still want that angry man energy he used to have. But he's free from all of that now.
cj92it The price of most CDs these days is a steal of a deal. It’s fantastic! Every so often I buy 20 albums in one go just to catch up. (That’s about once in 3 years, though. Adulthood is busy. :P)
@murcroadster Seems like one of those stories writers pull at the start of an apocalyptic film and later, when they get an old generator running - they un-peel the protective plastic and play the album from the world's last working CD player as they battle their last stand... and die, so the protagonist gets another day to live. So, y'know... watch out for zombies and the like.
"Until I listen to it 30 times...then it's IN me..." That perfectly sums up TOOL. Thank you. I always think that I can't possibly love tool more, but 13 years of repeat has made that love deepen each time. They are a part of us all.
Yeah and that part is my favorite part hits me hard every time!!! Because I was in a horrible relationship and I'M FREE FROM ALL THAT NOW. Makes me cry every time!!!
I couldn't stop smiling. When I got home and sat down to listen to it with a spliff. That's when it hit me. So happy this day came and the biggest of all is yet to come.
I feel like it took everyone a second listen to really take it in as first one was fueled with numbing anticipation after so many years but this is my favorite shit by them now.
So true. I thought Descending was cool but Invincible was ok at best. I'm referring to the live versions first recorded before the album. When I heard it a few more times I fell in love. Oh and I keep the stickers too. I cut it out and keep it inside. Tool is also my favorite band. No band gets close. They have helped me so much. MJK will never know how much he's helped me personally. So much to say. But yeah... thank you for this. Great video. Side note: Ænima has a better cover with the US version. I had to get one from eBay. So cool with the lenticular slide.
I enjoyed watching ur exciting. I was just as excited to listen to this for the first time as well. I love this band!!!! This song sounds like an extension off Lateralus.
Finally Conservatives and Democrats can come together and agree on something. And that topic is how awesome Tool is. Who would have thought that Maynard can bring peace to the world.
[comment based on listening 22 minutes of your video...typical of me] lol, your reaction was just like mine....."yup, it's Tool" - but then the appreciation deepened, my thoughts and feelings about it enhanced greatly. This song is awesome on many levels...I must've needed it in my life! I've been listening to this song on repeat, just as you said. There has been many a spontaneous dancing to this song.....it really moves. I've started to appreciate the whole song pretty quickly. No matter how you look at it, there clearly are chunks of the song that have their own flavor. This song is a prayer, an asking to purge of the ghost within, the egomind, the delusion. This is in line with my state of consciousness...Maynard wants to awaken to the ever-present divinity. A thunderous ending. go beyond thoughts, stay silent... this immunity Maynard is singing about is already so; it's only a matter of recognition. Whether you know what you are or not, it doesn't change what you are. Here is to the manifestation of the recognition of the Absolute, the eternal, the you and me and Maynard, are one. P.S. enjoyed the video greatly, I've laughed out loud several times...great fun; just to re-live someone else's reaction, understand what they're saying and why they're saying it; I'm totally relating to your appreciation of Tool, and how it really is a genre/world that one discovers to their amazement. It is the peak of music. Thank you for the video.
Love your reaction man!! I felt the same way the whole time I listened to it. Couldn’t help but close my eyes lol each time I listen to it, it gets better and better. It’s a song that’s gonna grow more and more on you.
Thanks, Andrew! I was the same. Bit like kissing with open eyes, eh? Feels more respectful to the art to just ride the ride and come out the other side.
thats not accurate at all. There are two types of tool fans. Cool ones like above. and the negative meathead elitists who wish they still made another Undertow album and bitch about every minute detail
I love this, I got goosebumps hearing the intro for the first time and again now listening to it with you, several parts of the song just resonates so hard
Maynard's phrasing is often times unique. It goes fluid with the instruments, which I suppose is the point. I prefer not to know the lyrics at moments because, to me, it's like explaining a joke. I'd rather just vibe out.
Great video, Zim! I was going to skip ahead to the listen, but you started speaking and I gotta say, you pretty much echo almost all of my thoughts. The singing threw me at first; it reminded me slightly more of APC and Puscifer. But, after a couple listens, it's all Tool. Again, great vid. I've also been listening to Descending and Invincible, but there's something about getting a real single. Also, feckin' bad ass that you have a copy of Salival. I've actually got the VHS release lol... I stayed up way past my bedtime to pre-order the physical album. Praying for a vinyl release as well... TOOL IS BACK BABY!
Tomás Rodríguez Moser When you don’t like Tool on first listen, that’s a good sign! I was nervous how much I liked even the first half but many many hours listening afterwards; like you, it’s only grown on me! Also the second half feels much better after a few listens.
Such a great reaction video from a true Tool fan!! Beyond excited to listen to the album in it's entirety!! Chew some gummies and slap the headphones on!!
Dude I totally understand what you mean when you say there's parts you don't like at first with Tool. Then you just...dig it. And get it. And love it. First listen never does Tool justice in don't know why.
Yesterday I heard the new song for the first time at work. I nearly freaked out the moment it came up in my UA-cam feed. I absolutely love it. Looking forward to hear more from them 🤘
He did exactly what he should have. put headphones on and immediately closed his eyes. Thats how tool is meant to be experienced...also I WANT THAT SWEET VEST lol
Frankly, I can't watch people reacting to new Tool music and interrupting it on first ever listen. If it was my town, I'd hang 'em high. JUST EFFING LISTEN. It took them 13 years to get this ready for you; you can shut your trap for that long, at least. /rant The vest is a SubPac M2 - got it used. Check eBay. Pricy, but great for 2 things: Music and VR.
Im the same way. Every tool album starting with Aenema. Id buy it, listen to it, get pissed because it wasnt the previous album. What ive noticed is that tool evolves and its on you as the listener to evolve along with them. Tool is a band that reqires you to actively listen to their music. There are no casual tool fans.
I agree with what you said about Maynard's part. What's up is down and what's down is up. Then after awhile you end up loving his parts the most. It just blows my mind.
Right! First listen and I was kind of iffy on some of the vocals and out of my mind on the rest. But I came across a lyrics video and it all sunk in better. Some of the vocals seem abstract, especially the beginning, so the more I've listened the more I'm amazed. My personal experience of course. Exhale, expel. So great!
keith stahl I feel at peace just listening to this. More free than I was before it entered my life. Tool are deservedly pretentious. Very few can fit that description. They earn it so well. They made a song that achieves a major psychological feat - they describe moving away from a toxin in a way that feels so intimate and rewarding. Whatever it takes, however long it takes them, I will wait and I will listen.
Zimtok5 it's like the track has been given to me at the exactly the tight time. I've struggling with this shit I put into my body. Maynard's word are telling me to stop and get your head out of your ass.
Tool army member here, since '95. This album is AMAZING. Didn't think they could do any better than the past albums... totally wrong! This album is the culmination of all the years past. Thank you, TOOL!
My dad was a HUGE fan of tool and I never understood why growing up I didn't like them until he bought and gave me 10,000 Days and their other outlet Perfect Circle 13 Steps. Once I broadened by music taste this instantly shot to my all time favorite band and I haven't looked back. Once I went to college that's when I dove deep into all their music, process and art then it just all connected so deep within me haha
Transformation... Tool has transformed to a plateau that can only be called a true spiritual enlightenment of sonic perfection. I truly believe that this is probably the best song I've ever heard in my life, and being a musician myself , this has given me a lift of inspiration and desire. I can't stop listening to it in a loop over and over. Thanks guys, it's been so truly worth the wait for 13 years. I applaud the masters of audio excellence!!!!!!
It’s frankly unbelievable what they made even exists. If you told me this is some kind of alien technology they used to harvest the best possible sounds in the universe... yeah, I’d rather believe that than 4 messy humans could compose something so fuckin perfect.
My only cons with this are those punchy water echo type of effects Danny has on the drums at times throughout the track, and a little to much fuzz and WA WA on this but all in all I loved it from the start. Maynard's vocals def are holding up. I'm probably a little bias cause I really love the soundscapes tool provides. All time fav of mine. Great reaction brah🤘keep it up
Justin Pramis Just to be sure it’s not my fault, in the 2nd listen (on this video only), you can hear lagged SubPac thumps. I didn’t realise that earlier but that is certainly in this cut. However, given your remarks, I’m sure you’re speaking from the original track, listened to and dismantled. In which case, I’ll just say... at Maynard’s age... the fact he can pull these vocals off still... and contrasting to Trent Reznor, it’s night and day difference. God, I love what Tool create.
Zimtok5 when I said con I should have been more specific, it's more along the lines of I'm not sure, thanks for your thoughtfulness on thinking It could have been your recording but your right. Between 4:28 -4:34 of the track is what I was talking about so yeah( dismantled) although there might some theme I haven't taking in to consideration that fits why Danny chose that sound. As you know they really don't do anything without thinking it through. Man you mentioned two of my top five bands NIN and absolutely your right comparing the two is nigh and day.
I'm always amazed how Tool songs just grow on you into something so powerful...always a little just out of reach, never quite grasping the full meaning each time we listen, but inching closer and closer, constantly pursuing. Great reaction to song, my sentiments exactly...
Starks 404 Thanks, Starks! Hot damn, that was in the early days. I’m going to turn my envy into a (blasphemous) question: What other 3 bands do you think I should check out which I might not know being a busy dad living in Scotland?
Zimtok5 Im pretty sure you have heard of all these bands , unfortunately I don’t really know any newer bands. Deftones Faith No More Suicidal Tendencies
Starks 404 BINGO. We have a winner. I love both Deftones and Faith No More. Never had a listen to (or know of) Suicidal Tendencies. So time to ask what album do I start with?
Most people never mentioned that as A/Descending. I seem to always have to correct people or remind them. This was their official title for it on their setlists that people took pictures off. Mainly crew.
That last jump was directly on my favorite spot. That was a great reaction, more positive than my first listen, but it just grew quick. Tool is about to drop Godzilla King of Monster Albums. I can't wait to see what Danny Carey can do with 13 years.
Correct. Exactly why I won't be exposed to any aural tasters until the entire Godzilla main feast is placed before me, hopefully bang on August 30! And as with all Tool albums, it will be a monster feed meant to be swallowed whole!!
Not a fan of this track. I love tool but I've been listening to a lot of prog metal that produces music that is sometimes 15 minutes long with more interesting transitions and unique melodies. Here I am getting the same old tool, with the same riffs, drum patterns, melody, and vocals. I was absolutely blown away by their last album and I hope this album has more to offer than this.
I felt the same until I listened to the track a few additional times. Now I can't get enough of it. No doubt that this sounds like same old Tool, but after a few listens it sounds fresh and exciting, and I can't really pinpoint exactly what it is.
Ben, I am glad you found enjoyment in this song. I gave it 4 listens and still could not get behind it at that. Maybe listening to the album in sequence will change my perspective.
This really clicked with me when you said Maynard and his lyrics are (most of the time) a bit off putting to begin with- I've felt the same with every release. They're a lot to unpack and it takes me away from the music sometimes analysing and trying to interpret what he is saying/his message. Then after 30 listens everything comes together like some delicious musical soup and BOOM...mind blown. Man I love Tool!
Thanks for sharing Zim. Tool is one of a kind with their music. Before there was VR for immersion there was Tool with audio immersion :-) Like you said, they take you to another plane. You haven't lived if you haven't seen and heard them live.
Enjoyed the reaction. I wouldn't worry about not hating it enough, most probably your discomfort comes from the first 11/8 section and then when the polyrhythms come in. The more Tool you know the less the odd time signatures will throw you off. I loved my first listen, my only reservations were that i heard other Tool songs within the music (Right in Two, Reflections, Lateralus) but that dissipated after a few listens.
Brian Woolery Ah it’s in the stack it’s just I’m a talker and didn’t want to take up 30 mins before getting to the song. 4 degrees. Jerk Off. Mayard’s Dick. All amazing song. Expect an encore video when the album lands. I’ll touch on the older albums then. ;) What a great buzz enjoying Tool fandom with so many!
Heh, thanks man. What do you think? Should I do the other songs too, when they land? Frankly speaking, I get a massive buzz from tapping other Tool fans. It's like one massive celebration. I had no idea the my nor others' response would be but damn, man, it's been a warm welcome back to the Tool family. One big feckin' hug of my third eye.
I love it .. it gets better and better every listen .. his voice at the start reminds me of stuff off APC eat the elephant .. I love all tool , I hope this is there slower song like reflection and right in 2 .... And we get some heavier stuff as well . But it's awesome
I had exactly the same exprience with invincible and fear inoculum as you. On the next listens i freakin loved them both. Just a couple of more outstanding tool songs.

That drum sound at the beginning is called a Tabla. It’s an Indian percussion instrument. It takes years to master!
Here’s a wiki link: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabla
Edit: Thanks to a helpful comment in the thread I thought I’d add that he’s triggering the tabla sounds through mandala pads.
Here’s a link to Danny’s mandala pads info:
synesthesiacorp.com/danny-carey
thank you for this! would've took forever for me to figure that one out on my own xD
And Danny Carrey is the Master 🥁🤘
Duh.
Not real tabla tho, he’s triggering tabla sounds via his mandala pads... however he has studied tabla with Aloke Dutta
Rory Dolinski yeah absolutely! Thanks for the additional info. Super helpful! Enjoy the new album! Just a few weeks to go!
New tool song comes out for the first time in like 13 years:
*Puts on highest quality headphones and a vibrator*
😂😂😂😂😂
The only thing missing are the scented candles and the lotion.
I got chills when the bass first came in
Justin is my inspiration and absolute favorite thing about tool. As soon as he kicked in, I balled my eyes out
Fun fact that part at the beginning that's doing the waaa wa waaaa is the bass. When he starts that bass riff your referring to he actually trades off the riff to Adam
I got chills 4 times throughout the video
Like a throat punch for me.
Puscifer influence. I love it
I grinned ear to ear the entire time when I first heard this track. Tool is back mane!!! Can't wait for the entire album to drop
Chris Cary Having listened for the past 5 hours, I sincerely echo your sentiments.
It’s just what we needed.
Chris Cary haha I’m like a carbon copy of you... same age and experience
49 but feel 20 when I listen to this tune. After 12 listens I am addicted to this song. Fav. part is the whole thing. Beginning is ethereal and magical, the middle is a journey, the end is freaking full on, just awesome.
42 man! Seen Tool 14 times since 96, this is a mashup of songs, but still new. Masterpiece.
Also 42 and have listened since 93 and this is perfect but took time to grow on me
It's a tabla.
Thanks for that info. Was trying to remember that name.
Bro! I LOVE this reaction. You crushed it. Legit. Passionate. Intelligent. Instant subscribe. Thanks for taking the risk. Rock on brother.
@@Zimtok5 Couldn't say it better myself! It feels like I'm a teenager again, filled with pure excitement!
Have you placed your pre-order yet?
Also, great content by the way!
Ride the spiral my dude! Keep going! :D
@@benjaminharris8058 Oh I'm riding that spiral hard. I've got 2 copies coming; one from US, one from UK! hahaha, can't contain myself man. Spiral out!!
This the reaction i love to see, completely genuine. Subbed.
The Crew Rock on!!! 🤘
I’m the same exact way bro. Tool Always takes a few listens to sink in. First listen was ok for me.. then on the second and third listen I was absolutely floored. God I love this band.
Love the reaction. I just laugh at people who hate. This song is incredible, it definitely deserves at least 10 listens to fully digest it 😝
Eddie Cardwell are you serious this is ass its a dude saying random shit with a rock background tell me whats so good about this remind you this piece of shit took 13 years to make
@steven migo sounds like you gotta exhale. Never been a tool fan obviously. You're opinion is worthless bud.
Congratulations you discovered the secret to every rock song ever

Never seen one of ur vids before but it's amazing and inspiring to see someone so happy and enjoying life you've got a new fan 😉
YES!! I still buy physical copies
cj92it The price of most CDs these days is a steal of a deal. It’s fantastic! Every so often I buy 20 albums in one go just to catch up. (That’s about once in 3 years, though. Adulthood is busy. :P)
Just brought a huge stack of CDs home with me from Indiana. None were Tool because I already own them but yes, I buy the hell out of CDs lol.
Really waiting for the studio recording of Descending to come out... Man it's got some sick riffs and vibes
"Until I listen to it 30 times...then it's IN me..." That perfectly sums up TOOL. Thank you. I always think that I can't possibly love tool more, but 13 years of repeat has made that love deepen each time. They are a part of us all.
Couldn’t be more spot on with his comment
"Long overdue"
"A long time comin'"
You're damn right Maynard.
Yeah and that part is my favorite part hits me hard every time!!! Because I was in a horrible relationship and I'M FREE FROM ALL THAT NOW. Makes me cry every time!!!
I had a smile when it was released for my entire train ride into work. Thanks for sharing!
I was crying when I first heard this, no shame
You and I both. No shame here.
Yep. Zero shame.
Why? Because it´s the most boring song of a year? :D
Demonick No because he couldn’t believe what a fuckwit you are
I couldn't stop smiling. When I got home and sat down to listen to it with a spliff. That's when it hit me. So happy this day came and the biggest of all is yet to come.
I feel like it took everyone a second listen to really take it in as first one was fueled with numbing anticipation after so many years but this is my favorite shit by them now.
I'm loving it more every single day.
Great to hear from you, Ice. Thanks for the nice reflection.
I love how excited you were to listen to this! Trust me it gets better and better with each listen.
Kimmer N 15 hours later I’m just spiralling, spiralling out.
Zimtok5 same here! I’m participating in a 5k run in a few and may just have it on repeat. :)
I like this guy..good to hear someone who likes Tool as much as I do

I enjoyed watching ur exciting. I was just as excited to listen to this for the first time as well. I love this band!!!! This song sounds like an extension off Lateralus.
Finally Conservatives and Democrats can come together and agree on something. And that topic is how awesome Tool is. Who would have thought that Maynard can bring peace to the world.
Stephen Webb Maynard for pres 2020
Is that the plot of bill and Ted's excellent adventure? WYLD STALLYONS! RUFUS! Be excellent to one another.
[comment based on listening 22 minutes of your video...typical of me]
lol, your reaction was just like mine....."yup, it's Tool" - but then the appreciation deepened, my thoughts and feelings about it enhanced greatly.
Dan F Thank you, Dan! Nice message.
Maynard's vocals are very similar to his work on the last Puscifer album, this song is just fantastic.

@@jomanes9795 Yes I love it
Love your reaction man!!
Tool: Plays anything
Fans: OMG THIS IS COOL
PS: I loved this song and I love everything Tool does.
thats not accurate at all. There are two types of tool fans. Cool ones like above. and the negative meathead elitists who wish they still made another Undertow album and bitch about every minute detail
Not only do they respond that way; they're proud that they and EVERY OTHER TOOL FAN responds that way.
FOR IT IS RIGHT. AND IT IS GOOD.
@@Zimtok5 these dudes changed my life and way of thinking 20 some odd years ago. They are the epitome of epic
MaynardSaves I need that T-shirt. Epitome of Epic!
Justin Williams I knew a guy like that. Thought Undertow was there only good album.
Jeremy Keller Same! I avoid lyrical spoilers. Best to just allow the waves wash over me.
I can find myself in your thoughts so much damn thanks for this bro
Btw that's not a mistaken upload, that's youtube music, kinda like spotify and all the songs show up in that youtube music variant yk?
Tool is back! I hope they tour this winter around the south east!!
Jackalhit THIS BONER THIS BONER THIS BONER WONT GO DOWN. Gahhh! So pumped, my man. Thanks for the great feedback and see you showside. ;D
On my first listen I didn’t quite like the song until I started repeating it. Every time I listen to that song again it only got better and better
Looking forward to hear more from them 🤘
ViralInfekT The best kind of surprise! “Honey I’m pregn-“”SHH, woman. Don’t you see? There’s new Tool out!”
@@Zimtok5 that definitely could have been me 😁
He did exactly what he should have. put headphones on and immediately closed his eyes.

The vest is a SubPac M2 - got it used. Check eBay. Pricy, but great for 2 things: Music and VR.
So agree with you on the opening, just mesmerizing, next level arrangement. I think I’m hypnotized 🤪
James DaveS Better than paying for a hypnotist, eh.
Yeah there are, but they're tools.
@@andrewlockett4569 *slow clap*
If you fold the new Tool logo in half it makes a syringe
Jimmy B makes sense since inoculum means to inject a substance such as a syringe
Mind blown 🤯
I didn't see that till now. Now, I can't unsee it.
love to watch you react to this...you really can enjoy great music...thats all about :)
I love Tool too! New sub good sir :D
Cosmic Apotheosis *tips hat* Expect an encore video when the album lands (incl. physical packaging) People seem to dig this stuff. ;)
Tool army member here, since '95. This album is AMAZING. Didn't think they could do any better than the past albums... totally wrong! This album is the culmination of all the years past. Thank you, TOOL!
Someone get this man a tissue, hes about to blow.
Correction for a friend: The pronunciation is Ænima, not Enema. With an "Ahh" nima sound
Besties!
the "Ae" sound is pronounced just how Maynard pronounces the "Ae" in the intro of Enima
Oh my God, we have the same accent.
Just a touch of the affected Irish.
TheGalwayjoyce Hell yeah, like. Dats bril. (Mine’s from Cork)
Good video mate :) awesome band
My only cons with this are those punchy water echo type of effects Danny has on the drums at times throughout the track, and a little to much fuzz and WA WA on this but all in all I loved it from the start. Maynard's vocals def are holding up. I'm probably a little bias cause I really love the soundscapes tool provides. All time fav of mine. Great reaction brah🤘keep it up
Cheers, Justin. Happy Tool Day!
Zimtok5 back at ya
The song is 10:22 long. At the 5:11 mark Maynard sings the word 'mitosis'... first song off the album and they already blew my mind.
Ooooooooh. I knew learning Biology is school would one day pay off. Today is that day.
Great video. Well done sir. My first tool show was in 1993 in Phoenix Az, been hooked ever since.🐐💥💨🔥💯
Starks 404 Thanks, Starks!
Deftones
Faith No More
Suicidal Tendencies
Starks 404 BINGO. We have a winner.
I love both Deftones and Faith No More.
Never had a listen to (or know of) Suicidal Tendencies. So time to ask what album do I start with?
Zimtok5 How will i laugh tomorrow when i cant even smile today. Its much different then those other bands thou.
Starks 404 I listen to a lot, from Nick Drake to Meshuggah. They’ll find a home, here. Thank you!!
Tool is NOT music. Tool IS medicine!
The best kind.
"It's tool"
My exact reaction to this song. It was just tool. No more. no less. Then I listened more and wow.
Most people never mentioned that as A/Descending. I seem to always have to correct people or remind them. This was their official title for it on their setlists that people took pictures off. Mainly crew.
I probably listened to that 200 times.
Love the enthusiasm bro. Good vid.
Cheers! Where can I get a magic carpet for 50% off?
@@Zimtok5 Jasmine handles my carpet business brodehrr:).
been my fave since I recorded Sober on VHS in 93 and bought aenima in 97
That last jump was directly on my favorite spot.
This is merely a majestic teaser
as soon as I heard that tabla, drum shit, im like wow, this is what we get after 13 yrs, a repeat ?
Same.
I absolutely love this first song. They did a great job. I personally love maynards voice
10:00 - priceless reaction
If it resonates with you then it's meant for you the world needed this album in this world full of Chaos Long Live tool
Man I love Tool!
rachaeljtaylor Beautifully described, Rachael. Couldn’t put that better myself.
Enjoy the new soup. Chef’s cooked up a storm in a bowl this time.
Thanks for sharing Zim. Tool is one of a kind with their music. Before there was VR for immersion there was Tool with audio immersion :-) Like you said, they take you to another plane. You haven't lived if you haven't seen and heard them live.
Yikes
This had pusifer & Æneme feels.
I'd buy a physical copy of that tool album you put together lol.
put it up, make it available
Thanks for the video man

Then, more E's, please! THANK YOU. I wasn't going to be able to sleep without knowing.
Undertow is what got me hooked and Lateralus sealed the deal for me :D . I can't freaking wait for this to drop!
Dude you got to acknowledge the old stuff! Opiate and Undertow. come on.
Brian Woolery Ah it’s in the stack it’s just I’m a talker and didn’t want to take up 30 mins before getting to the song. 4 degrees. Jerk Off. Mayard’s Dick. All amazing song.
Expect an encore video when the album lands. I’ll touch on the older albums then. ;)
What a great buzz enjoying Tool fandom with so many!
There is two songs on that album that give me chills and at certain parts makes me want to cry! Only because it resonates with me so strongly.
lets stop the pretension, we have all heard this before, haven't we?
Every tool song sounds the same, flat second, major seventh, phrygian melody, tribal syncopated tom toms, presto. Plus it takes them a decade to do it
I absolutely wanna hear your mix!!!
Email me! Many have.
It's nice to see reaction video from a legit tool fan
Heh, thanks man. What do you think? Should I do the other songs too, when they land? Frankly speaking, I get a massive buzz from tapping other Tool fans. It's like one massive celebration. I had no idea the my nor others' response would be but damn, man, it's been a warm welcome back to the Tool family. One big feckin' hug of my third eye.
Much like you, I have to listen to Tools music over and over before it hits me but I know it will and thats why I wait it out.
Definitely waiting for the official drop later this week. Doing a live listening event on Saturday too. Full album! \m/ \m/
I love it .. it gets better and better every listen .. his voice at the start reminds me of stuff off APC eat the elephant .. I love all tool , I hope this is there slower song like reflection and right in 2 .... And we get some heavier stuff as well . But it's awesome
Just wait for Track 7. (The only one Apple marks explicit)
It’s been 3 weeks for me lol I’m a new tool fan and I’ve binged all of the albums and I’m truly blessed
Welcome to the collective.
I had exactly the same exprience with invincible and fear inoculum as you. On the next listens i freakin loved them both. Just a couple of more outstanding tool songs.
The singing in the beginning reminds me of the jazz singer "Sade".
The vocal choices and stretching of notes in odd places.
Haunting and Beautiful.
