Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
The way the bait was attached wasn’t described as promised at the start of the video so you always get your bait back.
Really love lure fishing, if I was to try convince someone to get into pike fishing it’d be with a lure. Deadbait/livebait is my second choice. It depends on the seasons for which one I go for. Used to lure fish when I was a kid. Recently got back into piking and love both aspects of it. That hit on a lure and the float sliding away are both great!
Edit: Single circle hooks are the way to go for me with deadbaits.
@@Edge-of-Reason I don't use them for convenience but for safety, much less likely to get a deep hooked fish. Haven't had a particular damage with circle hooks yet but I'll look out for it.
@ihcfn seen circle hooks do damage to scissor of pikes jaw and also a few times come out of a small pikes eye. Circle hooks are not as safe as you'd like to think.
Not had much success with a circle hook but the Korda wide gape X work a treat for me and depending on what bait I use, can also ge the big perch too
Dead baiting for me. I find the dead bait rig as shown a bit concerning. The length of the hook link means the fish could swallow the bait without registering anything on the float. I prefer a very short hook link to ensure I get an indication. even though that probably lessens the sensitivity of the rig. It seems I am very much alone in this thinking but deep hooking is not something I want to risk. The most important message however that I take from this video is the load testing of the complete set up.
Another video with great content and tips. My preferred method is dead baiting as I feel more confident in it over lures. I enjoy lure fishing but a higher catch rate on deads.

This was the same stuff carp fishermen were being ridiculed for in the late 90’s. I love to see this.
Personally think the fish was out too long hence why at 7.18 the pike was slow to recover a small pime that size rested in a good size net would of went away with a blink of the eye
To busy doing sales pitch for fox and his carrier bag. Nothing wrong with leaving fish in net then taking quick photo and releasing. Don’t need all gear he’s trying sell for fox.

Very good advice, ideally beginners should go fishing with someone experienced, but if they want to start out on their own this would really help

I love both ways of fishing. Nothing beats the take of your lure, but generaly bigger fish on deadbait. Good to see how you're handling the fish. Small question: which net is that?
I also want to know that looks ok to be fair,i use an xl savagegear net its a bit big lol

Lures in summer deadbait in winter.
Always carry a couple of pair of forceps and pliers one pair side cutters and some wire cutters.

Not a big fan of over complicating all this, so many tootles just to get more money out of you. One set of forceps and a simple mat is fine.
All these tools have a specific purpose. Just because you don’t use some of them often enough doesn’t mean you’ll never need them. You’ll be glad to have cutters if you ever get a treble in your hand.

I’m more drawn to bait fishing really, I love hearing the drop off calling and the float bobbing. I use pencil floats for most float fished baits on the bottom, a really sensitive way of fishing

Prefer to watch the float.. like to ledger for them aswell.. you forgot to include the bit about how to keep your bait with the rig you was using
I prefer to live bait but some waters don’t allow it, if that’s the case I will dead bait
I think that poor Jack was out of the water far to long. I think the sling shouldn't be used for pike. He took far too long to recover
don't clip forceps to coving like coat if you trip or slip cut be nasty

You said have everything near so you don’t have to leave the fish but you still got a rod in the water what if you got a take on that rod you either got to leave that fish or risk deep hooking a pike on other rod 😮
Deadbaiting is the easier way to catch them and iv had a lot more success, but nothing like a pike slamming your lure, usually the bigger ones come on deads, although my lure pb is 22 lbs on a mirius mouse 👌🐊
