Cracking great video. No disturbing Techno music blasting through my spine. Mr Brown does what he does best. Explains the simplicity of the art. As a Swedish viewer im chuffed to pieces watching this. Really inspirational!
What a pleasure to see a Mike Brown fishing party!! I now remember I read 25 years ago an interview of Mike Brown who came in France to show us how to fish pikes with dead sea baits...!! Everyone found it incredible !! Cause in our Country, in the past and still nowadays, everyone use only live bait such as roaches for pikes (and lures of course)... Therefore a big thank you Mike for opening my mind to other technics and share it with us so clearly !! You're a legend to me ! Respect Mike 🏅!! A French angler !!
Spot on as always, brilliant watching mick just a natural in front of the camera, just wish he did more, too much on lures we need more dead baiting videos just for a bit of a change 👍👍
Brilliant video. I've always been a fan of Browny and he makes everything nice and clear, especially for someone like me, who is just starting out pike fishing :)
@@clint-1725 defo used to watch every day before school used to be dying to get out fishing instead of school those were the days man bring back discovery real time
I have really enjoyed watching your video as I ain’t a pike angler I am a trout man don’t get me wrong I’ve caught big pike trawling in Loch Lomond years ago and that’s about it but my big mate Richie he’s retired from the Paras and he’s right into pike fishing and he wants me to get into it so that’s why I’m watching you as I remember years watching you on tv with Mat and I enjoyed it the so as both of us said let’s try everything before it’s too late 😂 👍🎣🏴🇬🇧
This was a great edit thanks 👌im a keen sea angler and live in south wales on the bristol channel, the winter fishing nowadays is horrendous and very sad, next to no cod about anymore unfortunately 😔so ive decided this winter after the hounds of gone and the last run of blond rays im going to get into pike fishing for a few month's of the year so thanks again for you knowledge and great tips and information its much appreciated 🙌
@@LloydTaylor30 I usually start with a 12 gm weight Lloyd. Go up to as much as 25 gm if there is drag or undertow. You will probably need a bit more if fishing a buoyant deadbait.
Came across a "kebab" rig by accident many years ago. Spur of the moment trip to the river, but nowhere selling bait. All I could find was a pair of trout. Began catching straight away, nothing big but one pike after another. The baits were so mashed and tatty I had to string morsels of fish off each hook. It didn't stop them feeding. Good to see the idea get proper tackle.
Sardines it is then, soon to embark on deadbaiting for the first time very soon, usually an avid lure fisherman but thought it is high time to give this a go
I’d love to use the kebab rig on the River Wey in Surrey but there are so many bloody crayfish it would be shredded in minutes! I once fished a whole mackerel under a large float about two feet off the bottom in a slack but within minutes my float began to sink so it was just under the surface and thinking it might be a branch, I reeled in to find about ten of the little sods attached to the bait ! 😩
What happens if that plastic spike with those fish chunks is somehow ejected and comes free of the hook during the fight. Will it not sit there waiting to be piked up by another pike, in doing so that pike eats the plastic spike. This would surly be better hair rigged to the trace so it can't come free, I wouldn't want to trust a bait flag to keep it in place.
A nylon or braid hair would probably cut through the bait, you couldn't fish sardines that way. I'm not sure what the scent difference is between a cut and sliced mackerel flapper and a kebab rig, but like most things in fishing it's whatever gives you confidence to persevere.
Alway best to use them frozen as they stay on the hook better, for first cast anyway. You could also try some bait elastic ( that sea anglers use) to bind the hooks on.
@@LloydTaylor30 You can use any float really Lloyd. I like the pencil when I'm suspending though as it stands upright when your bait is off bottom. It will sink of course if your bait is too heavy, so bait size is important.
@@MickBrownFishingTV many thanks Mick. I normally use the pencil float when float ledgering leaving the float cocked at 45 Deg. I guess using this setup is quite versatile then as you can use that method as well as suspend a bait.
I went out yesterday and made the mistake of using a live bait slider float. I was using deads and struggled to to get the depth right as with this type of float, was hard to see whether it was cocked or not. I'm out tomorrow fishing and have rigged up a pencil float setup and a cigar shaped float that I should be able to determine depth better

@@MickBrownFishingTV hi Mick when using an unloaded pencil float, fishing on the bottom. What size egg sinker do you use

a tip for sardines get a spool of cotton and wrap it around a few times after you have hooked the bait. stops it flying off mid cast
As far as sardines are concerned you can use spider tread to keep them attached longer.
Brilliant from m4 Brown top angler
Obviously thanks to the Duke but ye have to give it to Fox good long info full vid.👏👏
Fantastic video Mick! Thank you for sharing. I will put a link in our pikefishermen Whatsapp group!
Well that’s answers my question as to whether it’s recommended to chum the water with chopped up fish
Thoroughly nice chap

Good luck!
Had 2 of those white pencil floats. Both times the swivel has come out of the bottom on the cast.
I want to know the rod used. looks really great
Great vid again Mick , do you use electronic bite alarm much ?

Could you not use bait elastic to secure Sardines.
What’s the opening sound track? My 14 month old son comes running and dances every time it starts. It’s awesome
Does high pressure effect pike feeding mick
what are the plastic bait pins and savers called please
Shame you didn't show how your rigged the smelt on your hooks. Quite a lot if us have never dead baited before, so that would have been good to see.
A treble in the tail and another in the middle
Best Piker ever to live.
How long is the kabab pin? Thanks
Hi. What rod do you use?
trying to find where to get the plastic pin tried fox cant find them anywhere any tips please
Pop up sardines are brilliant
Interested to know how you keep the sardines on without tearing i.e big hooks over small or ??
Alway best to use them frozen as they stay on the hook better, for first cast anyway. You could also try some bait elastic ( that sea anglers use) to bind the hooks on.
I use thread
Can you buy these pins ?
Great
Does he fish the kebabrig on the bottom or suspending?
The whole Point in the kebab rig is to have it popped up.
You only need around 12 inch, just so it's off the debris at the bottom.
Nice kebab! where do you get the pins?
Any Fox stockist Robert.
Can u use kebab rig on float?
the music is wrong for trendy boys
Sorry Mick you have a long way to beat my smallest pike lol
brown looks like steve ringers dad
Please make a lure fishing one😊🎣👍🏻

I guess with the kebab rig, it's fished on the bottom with the float over depth?
Correct Lloyd.
