    In the book, Upward Spiral, some of things are covered, including a whole chapter on sleep. Is meditation and breath work the same thing? Legs on the wall is called viparita karani. It inverts the body without straining the head or neck. This pose is excellent for reducing stress and anxiety,

    Thank you, this is very useful and informative. I need to learn to have focus and a clear mind in my affairs. Is this enough or is something else necessary?
    What does this have to do with willpower? or lack thereof?

    "anxiety is just extra energy"
    This just tells me to go workout if I'm having morning panic attacks. Huh

    • @ManTalks
      @ManTalks  5 місяців тому +3

      Actually, yes. When I work with men who are having a panic attack, part of it is about moving the energy out (stomping feet, pushing with their hands) and lengthening the exhales (sometimes by letting sound out or yelling). This is MUCH more effective than what most people try to do which is simply slow the breathing

      I started walking first thing in the morning because I'd been not sleeping well/waking up and right in my head first thing. It's helped quite a bit to set a positive tone for my day rather than being in my head all day

    What do you mean limit gluten? It's good protein for people without celiac disease and there is only sketchy evidence for non-celiac gluten intolerance.

      I was very surprised by his statement, without any further explanation. I hope he explains it in more detail at some point. That was far too generalized. Whole grains, for example, are valuable and beneficial to most people's health. At least that's what I think the current data shows.

    You keep saying you had “negative self talk”, however, it has produced a wonderful career and family and life for you (I presume). Can you reconcile this?

    • @YourNemesis23
      @YourNemesis23 5 місяців тому +1

      Did he achieve this because of the negative self talk or despite of it? I don't think it's a prerequisite for this result at all, maybe the struggle to overcome it though is.

    • @trash3570
      @trash3570 5 місяців тому +1

      He has another video where he talks about "Shame based motivation", and its consequences. Hopefully someone can chime in and share the title because I cannot remember.
      But essentially, using negative self talk (a form of shame based motivation) will eventually lead to a crash and burn situation. Its an unsustainable way to motivate yourself, which negatively impacts other areas of your life. I believe his approach to solving this is about cultivating intrinsic motivation, I cannot remember the specifics though.
      Anyway, stop being mean to yourself lol. Cheers and all the best
