I actually remember the day that I almost bought a TTM guitar, I was halfway through the transaction when my bandmate (who also told me about it) called me and told me that I should wait a bit, to see if there would be reviews on UA-cam or other sites. So we waited a while and found no reviews. And after almost 4 years we finally understood that it was a scam and were thankful that we didn't fall for it. Thank you for putting some attention on this! Keep it up bro! 🤘🏻

Had chance to try 2 of their guitars and they are great, especially due to prices were around 300 US$ on 2nd hand market with that wood quality, great necks as luthier i have to say they are much better value then some fancy names. Are they scam or not i have no clue but from this and other videos i see they lied and OK guess what other brands lie even more not in the same manner but they lie. For example when they say ''We designed guitar with a...'' dude a player don't design guitar at all it's a lie. Then lies in marketing about quality and have you ever seen any lab test of any guitar that it proves their marketing hype? maybe from a pickups or pedals? I haven't.

Man, I worked for a company that was in another field, but one that's equally specialized, like bowling, or archery, or whatever, and listening to a lot of the practices you describe are reminding me of a lot of that time. Very frustrating to think back that I was an unknowing worker cog in this machine

I think I saw the TTM name along with CC Deville model Made In USA on a headstock at a local guitar store around 2017-2018..It was an Orange body and headstock with a Maple fretboard neck..it was for sale for $550...from a distance it looked cheap so I stayed away from it.

I remember hearing about and seeing adds for this company and I do remember quite well some of us in my area (also Nashville) thinking it was odd we had never heard of a company that supposedly had relationships with the bands they claimed. We we're doubtful but had no idea it was as bad as this nor that it had a Nashville connection. Thanks for this story. Aery informative and interesting heads up. 🤘👍

My mate was supposed to tour Europe a few years ago and couldn’t make it as he was unwell, he later got a message from Lance on his bands website saying, Hey Man I saw you recently at the concert and you were amazing and would like to offer you an endorsement, my mate never set foot on stage let alone enter the country! hahaha

I remember this , I got the email on this to get the green light on the endorsement, I didn’t fall for any of it. I’m very happy with my current endorsements and so grateful, but this was so interesting and crazy , I had been in show biz for along time and never heard of these guys till 2018
I was on Harmony Central when TTM first released guitars. He was giving guitars away left and right, promised me a guitar, then later, refused to send me one when the few people from harmony central that received one started roasting the quality.

"Endorsements" don't work that way.
It is the ARTIST that offers their popularity to endorse a product, connecting their name and notoriety to a product or company for the purpose of advertisement and increased sales.
An endorsement is meant to get the fans of the noted artist to want the same product that the artist says they like and use.
The company will often compensate the artist for endorsing the product with money or free products, some even going so far as to offer a product with the artists name actually on the product, or being designed or modified to the artist's ideas/desire.
So - the company DOES NOT endorse the artist, though they may offer an artist an endorsement DEAL - an agreement/contract for the artist to endorse the product and the value and means of compensation.
Nah, I'll just go with Solar if I want a out of the norm guitar. I have one and it's pretty damn good. Firefly is a good mod platform too, I have one of those too
I remember Status Quo endorsing Kramer guitars . Their bass player might have used one live but have never seen any proof .
I owned 2, cant believe youre covering them. Ill go into detail when i have more than a minute to comment. I found them on ebay.
Legacy One Guitars did the same grift around the same time. He got me but I disputed the charge after months of not hearing back. A few years later I unexpectedly received a box of Chinese parts, tossed it.
I owned a TTM predator, a reverse rhoads shape. It’s not bad, not my favorite. Sold it to get a hold of my Bc Rich Stealth.

He was a great drummer and a smart kid. I am really disappointed in what he did with TTM and the players he bilked.

I remember that the guitar player in the house band on Eric Andre show played one of these guitars. I remember thinking wtf and laughing when I saw what TTM stood for.

I looked into TTM when they where offering custom guitars, at the last minute I decided it sounded to good to be true and did not send money. I still get invoices through paypal to this day every month lol.

Did not expect the Breaking Bad reference, a not-so-memed one in face
OK so the Peace sign TTM didn't come thru, paid for it, no answer response nothing, got a refund and went for the electric blue Avenger.. neat guitar for sure, basically like a charvel or jackson.. 24 fret, HH, reverse, one vol one 3 way so on so forth..
it came in pretty good shape honestly, it had a dent one the first fret lower side, steamed that out easy, then a little simple green ane the odd yellowish stains are gone, neck is like new, frets in great shape don't think I shape or level, just repolished, I redid the rear neck, 180 to 3500 grit, it's very nice now..
the guitar came funky here as the humbuckers were like an inch away from the strings? so I go to back em out and screws fall out after a few turns, welp, not quite long enough and there are no springs, so I handle that, nice and tight and very adjustable, like $.50
I set it up, new strings, and everything works bi flex truss rod all that but I has the wrong depth locking nut so that has to come off, grind of a mm or so, repaint.. good to go..
I did plug it in, real hissy, welp the wiring isa mess, uber large gauge small voltage wire for like doorbells what not totally wrong size and type of wire.. I get to looking around and someone swapped out the steel spring for someo coated or they painted or powder coated them? not good as the springs are the leads for the ground tot he bridge itself otherwise your only ground is the claw? not good, so I scrape the springs back both ends down to metal for contact and wallah, 80% of the hiss is gone and the rest is poor wiring, cold solder joints and improperly wired humbuckers, well maybe Ill do all that soon..
they have like a 32 gauge wire for the ground but used like 18 for the rest, real stiff wire for you could use for pulling through conduit.. hi emdence lo voltage stuff, so I decided to go the full monty on it, the pups actually sound great don't think they are stock they are both different, black but different, one is a dimarzio other I think is welp I dunno really, has a brass back and sounded damn fine so they both stay, it has the one volume one t way toggle..
its getting new, push push 500k vol, new black chrome toggle, all nice black chrome hardware and someone at least saved the stock toggle nut which is nice so I am matching that and the machine heads.. so with the new toggle I picked up 2 new on/on mini toggles... however they ditched everything else stock I am afraid save maybe the mini pot? routing is small and flushed cover but it's enough room for what I have in mind.. my biggest dilemma is where to position the 2 mini switches, I been drawing up every config I can think of and none of it looks right.. equally space right down the middle ai spose? tele style long oval routing like 4.5" x 1.3/8"
I will wire it push push to split bridge humbucker, one mini toggle for phase reverse, one for parallel/series.. just enough room, I have proper 28AWG colored wiring to do it right, good solder, and a good hot iron, drill 2 small holes for mini switches be like a factory job and sound very good, I'm 100% sure, if not I have access to some really good pups but I'm sure these will stay..
the electric blue is welp, electric, I actually like it, don't have any real bright colors save a stock fiesta red that's bright as fugg but this one is electric blue, think richard petty in the early to mid 70's..
i'll holla back once its all wired up and set up maybe post a vid? I think the FR special stays for now? if its as good as I think as in resonate and toned up I may go an 84? perhaps a brass 42mm notched sustain block? its a featherweight so the extra weight won't hurt, balanced real nice too.. lucky there.. I have to go set up the grinder in the garage get that nut right, or order one? meh, not real enthused for some reason but I should get er dunn soon prolly manana? primary take is it's well worth $300, feels great in the hands and it's very resonate I can tell that a mile away.. she may be a greaser?
The 357 Customs Zak Wylde guitar scam was pretty huge as well.
I was just getting ready to type that out, what a sham that was. I never fell for it but I read a bunch about it and I was on the 357 customs site looking at the deal many times. I also spent lots of time reading many web forums about that shady deal.
Yeah...one of their agents tried to sign me a deal...only problem was, I didn't want any of their guitars! Why should I? I play ESP, Gibson, Washburn, Yamaha, Fernandes, Peavey Vandenberg guitars ... I could very much play the new Charvel / Jackson, Kramer or Fender lines, but not TTM
I’m glad people remember this catastrophe of a business. I guess they still exist although i’m not sure how. Entry level ltd/harley benton-esque guitars for serious instrument money. I used to get into it with them all the time on their facebook page back in the day, like basically when they started. Anyone who has been around a variety of instruments could look at them and know what they really were. But they really preyed on that weekend warrior demographic

@@vince_vatican777 TLDR they aren’t a scam just offer cheap, poorly made and overpriced guitars. Sometimes they can be good, other times not so good. In all honesty would recommend a Harley Benton over HLK.

That should have been a massive fucking red flag on its own. You would need WAY MORE money to build a "brand new guitar manufacturing factory", especially in that area.
The whole TTM thing has always been crazy to me, like, bands, and more specifically their labels, are violently litigious when people infringe on their IPs, and like, dead metal bands from the 80s, RATT n what not, sure they could get away with it, but like Megadeth? Ozzy Osbourne??? It literally feels like this dude just thumbed through his record collection and said "Yeah, these'll do"
