the string stretcher is actually a nice idea. i rather stretch my strings than hearing my strings detuning while playing.
Ooor… And hear me out here… Use your hands to pull the string. Retune. Repeat until the string stays stable after pulling.
It's actually a good product. You set it up on the string and use very light pressure from your hand to run it up and down the string a couple times then retune until it doesn't go out of tune. Usually 3 tries and you are done. I didn't get mine from aliexpress though. I got the string stretcha which is made in USA. Probably no difference and I over paid, but it works great.
@@Ari_Calamari That works too, and is probably easier on the string since you are less likely to over-stretch the string to breaking using your hands.
If you liked that, youre gonna have a blast in the kitchen gadget aisle.
Or u could use your fingers . Finger under string at 12th fret pull up and let down again and again until string feels uniform. Takes less than 1min.
The string stretcher is great honestly. Eddies guitar tech swore by those for years and I agree with him. Makes stretching the strings easy and fast. I use 2 because when you slide them back and forth the friction makes them hot.
The real one is called String Stretcha, $14 on StewMac. He’s also using it wrong in the video. Lift a bit, then slide up and down the neck 2-3x. Been using my original one for years and don’t need to “30 mins of playing in the strings. “
@@Ovibos5 I should’ve mentioned that the one in this video is a knock off. I own the original as well. They are great and you’re right 3 to 4 times per string and done. You also don’t lift the strings till they break. Good call on it not being the original 👍
string stretchers are great to get rid of the looseness of the strings at the pegs, not rob one of precious practice but it really stabilized the instrument thus preventing playing out of tune for an hour.
@@castleanthrax1833 👏🏻
@@castleanthrax1833 like that?
I agree with all but one of those reviews, The string stretcher is actually a good product. Not sure why you dont stretch your strings when you first put them on but that device makes the stretching process go faster. You are actually supposed to put it on the string like you had it and slide it up and down a few times. The Ali express version is probably made much cheaper than the version I got earlier this year.
@@castleanthrax1833 Because when you have a lot of guitars (and especially if you're a guitar tech on tour with a band) there is much time to be saved with this tool, plus not all of us have indestructible hands and actually enjoy having at least some of our skin left for actually playing the guitar.
@@MrGul 18 guitars and counting, the majority of them get their strings changed at the same time. I stretch my strings with my hand and have plenty of skin left to play after without any tuning issues. Strings stretchers are just an unnecessary extra tool to get lost and cost a few dollars that could have been spent towards something necessary.
@@zakkmylde1712 Everyone isn't built the same. My fingers get wounds extremely easy from string stretching by hand and I don't enjoy the pain at all. The string stretcher may be unnecessary to you, but that doesn't mean it's unnecessary to everyone else as well.
Streching your strings actually gives you more time to play. Stretching them for a minute or two is a lot better than wasting 10 munites contantly retuning your strings while you're actually trying to play, but I and I think most people, just do it by hand, but I guess that product does make it faster/easier, but hands are just fine for that as well.
I love those string stretchers. I used to work in a music shop and had to set up multiple guitars a day and those stretchers saved my fingers a multitude of pain. Stretching strings by had all day really builds up the pain.
I came here to take up for the "string stretcher", but looks like MANY ppl beat me to it lol. For 30+ years I've ALWAYS stretched the strings by hand in that same fashion when installing new strings. I start by pressing the first fret, pull up on the string in a few different spots to stretch it, & repeat all the way down the fretboard - skipping every other fret or so - and continue doing so for every string. I find that the process saves me a lot of "break-in" time & provides much more tuning stability right off the bat.
So that product would actually be very useful for me. In fact I'm going to order one right now! 😊
Lol I've used the Stretcha for years and I love it. It's just plain easier and more efficient than hand stretching and easier on my hands too! The only thing is you can overdo it if you don't know how to use it.
It's been said in a million other comments, but the string stretcher is great. It's something I toss in every guitar bag/case so I've always got one handy.
yeah but
use your hand?
My man sixstringtv watches DankPods, you are a real one
Your neighbors next door must love you.
“Honey its like friggen christmas out here i found all the neighbors guitar equipment” 😂
To be fair the string stretcher would be best suited in a live player situation. Sure you could argue they should already have a second guitar or the main one ready to go, but you see what I mean.
13:30... If you spent 5 to 10 minutes stretching them by pulling the strings with your fingers you wouldn't have to retune constantly and do all that bending. Not sure why you've never heard of doing this (or choose not to do this)... This tool makes it so you don't need to work your hands raw from stretching them with your fingers. If i remember correctly, the original manufacturer of the tool sells theirs for about $12 on Amazon, but i can't imagine a $4 knock off would be all too different.
I also don't understand the mentality of playing the strings in. Just stretch them so you can actually play the dang guitar instead of tuning every 5 minutes.
Oh wow full on asmr tingles listening to you talk bro - amazing ! 👏
Love these AliExpress vids! I’m a big DankPods fan too lol
I named my iPhone iDingus because of DankPods
@@TheRockinDonkey Amazing. I’ve bought a bunch of AliExpress nuggets because of DankPods. Then I compare the gross earbud maracas to my AKG studio headphones lol

The influence is certainly there
Have one of those wrench thingy from ESP and it's very helpful while changing pickguards or pots
Well... anyone from the UK will see that "string stretcher" and definitely have something to add to the knife crime.
Now we need a dankpods collab
There's a string stretcher built in to the planet waves string winder I've used since like 2008. I've never used the string stretcher on it. I just do it by hand.
> makes a video about Pantera having bad guitar tone
> plays with horrible tone no matter what guitar or amp he’s choosing
> this isn't 4chan bro
i like the string stretcher since i have sensory issues and stretching my strings fucks with them big time so it helps me do it without having to deal with the detuning
so funny when he tries to get that wireless thing off his guitar before sentencing it to death by golf club
I tend to stretch my strings once or twice manually using my fingers and thank God that doesn't cost $4.04. I typically still need to play for a small break in period as a quick stretch usually doesn't remove any settling of the string or whatever black magic is happening when the strings become stable... love the video BTW 📹 ❤️
I pinch the strings together and pull up on them a little, give each a big bend and very rarely do I have any issues with them settling. I also know the sweet spot for stretching them at this point though, I used to love re string days or as my girlfriend calls them guitar spa days, but at 18 guitars, 3 basses and counting its becoming a literal whole day procedure. We'll worth it for the first few super crisp and clean pinch harmonics on each one though lol.
I play riffs that bend a lot to get my strings stable
For everyone simping for the string stretcher you can use your thumb and for fingers to accomplish the same thing, like we did in back the 1900's.
Yup, been stretching my strings since the 1980's. The string stretcher just makes it go faster.
Really enjoyed the vid... lotta fun especially the fail item's 'disposal' ha ha, very inventive and ultimately practical. Have you tried the fretboard cleaning device that cleans without removing the strings??? I did, and it could double as an unwitting string stretcher lol.
You need a hockey stick to get rid of the crap products. A real sport to rid the world of crappy guitar products.
Babe wake up, Sixstring tv posted another Ali express video🤌🤌
The stretcher is nice tho. I appreciate not having to retune so much after re-stringing.
Not stretching your strings is some psycho shit man. You don't need a gadget, but still.
Stretching your strings by hand actually very good way to break them in. This gadget just does it wrong, applying too much tension with a steep angle.
I give them a good tug (while minding my force) from the middle point around 12th fret, while holding the string down around the 1/2 fret with my other hand.
Makes everything settle down in its place.
“Not much confidence in my golf swing” -man who’s swinging a club above bricks 😬
its a $20 golf club from Amazon, it'll see much more abuse in the future 🤣
@@sixstringtv1 lol I look forward to it
The rolling capo is a ripoff of the GL-1 Glider Capo, which is actually really good. Definitely heavy clamping force, but it makes mid-song key changes a breeze, especially if you're doing fingerstyle. A good example of it in use is Sungha Jung's video of "My Heart Will Go On"
Use the multi tool thing in case of emergency only. It's much better to use the correct tools so you don't strip the nuts and bolts.
The string stretcher would compliment the $200 worth of strings I just bought just perfectly
Bruh 200 worth in strings? Do you have a guitar center in your house?

A couple of issues #1) The Guitar 🎸 Stretcher is Recommended by EVH Guitar Tech & Former Eddie Van Halen Guitar Set up man TOM WEBBER. It in fact does work. Especially if you are stringing several guitars a day.. See Toms Video on setting up a EVH guitar. Next ALIE EXPRESS GUARANTEES SATISFACTION 75 DAYS AFTER RECEIVING PRODUCT YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF NOT SATISFIED. SO I'M PERPLEXED ABOUT YOUR VIDEO.
You can watch EVH's teck show how to use the string stretcher right here on UA-cam.
I could see his brain stop working when he went the play the sliding power chords in the puppets riff lmao.
Didn't realize that wasn't gonna work before I tried 🤣
Think of the bright side, you spent 70 Bux, and got free golf swing practice!
What's not to 💕?
Keep up with the golf practice 😉!
hence you are a dank pods fan, you are now the guitar nugget man lol
Golf Club vs 1 Grit - the ultimate nugget destruction challenge.
i wonder if the neck phone holder would work on my strandberg lol
Ali Express is the sort of retailer to re-label a warehouse full of 15 year old knock off brand vibrators as "physical therapy wands." Which is mostly bad, unless youre a vintage vibrator collector i guess. I did buy that weird finger pick holder from Ali, however, so take it for what it is. I supposed this runs parallels to life, where the journey requires you to constantly sift through the rebranded vibrators and junk to find the occasional keeper.
One of my friends had a rolling capo in the late '90s! I don't recall the manufacturer, but it worked horribly. If you changed its position the intonation would fuck up horribly.
Hell yeah man, major props for the Violator riff at 11:34
Omg the product descriptions are soooo funny
I made that phone clip from a car phone holder which was like 3$, I bought it cause it had a very strong spring so you can actually bang your head and move your guitar however you like, the phone is securely staying on the head.
Puts on capo proceeds to play bar chords 😂
Tom weber (EVH's guitar tech) was an avid supporter of the string stretcher, its a great product, especially if you need to set up multiple guitars & saves you a lot of time
This dude obviously takes his guitars in to get strings changed or he would know you don't change strings on a FLOYD GUITAR without stretching them, because thats just shooting yourserlf in the foot
Damn fun content. Thanks!!!!

I use those shaker finger thingies , just before bed as i ,,,, ummmmmm , get sleepy ?
Yeaaaah
I put a rag under my string and pull up as I fret the strings. Could this stretcher make me even lazier than that?
I already stretch my strings when putting on a fresh set, so honestly the device is nice. Because I like my guitar to stay in tune immediately
The string stretcher is a great idea, but it's just kind of cumbersome to use. I find it faster and easier just to do it by hand.
Give it a try, it's really foolproof and won't set you back too much with these cheap Chinese ones.
@@Demiglitch I had one before I made the initial comment.
I could never go back to stretching by hand after using a string stretcher, it would be like going back to winding them by hand instead of a peg winder.
The dankpods reference 😂
Dankpods is the goat
nice idea to pace the video like that, makes it more continuous and easier to watch
Not a lot of people do it, but I'm not sure why I didn't do it sooner. Retention is way up on this video
Kinda disappointed you didn't use the multi tool for the purpose it showed in the picture on Ali Express. Changing tuning heads without the annoyance of having to remove the strings. I know that would be a huge time saver for me!
that aldi sweater is astonishing
String stretching is crucial after a string change, but i don't care about that plastic gadget. The shaker thing could be cool with an acoustic, depending the style of music played, and learning the technique to play with it! $18 for a wireless system was just too good to be true. Cool vid! May the algorithm god continue to bless you!
Dankpods is a great youtuber

11:34 I got excited with that violator riff XD

@@sixstringtv1 Thank you very much, keep up the good work.
Lol Puts on a capo, then proceeds to play a bunch of full bar chords, defeating the entire purpose of the capo in the first place.
12:42 made me think of Finger Ring Friends
Nice stuff and all, but the coolest useless(besides from keeping you warm)item in your vid is your Aldi Christmas sweater. And I mean it in a good way.
Just stretch the strings by hand, what a strange gadget 😆
14:00 aight fr who spends half an hour stretching their strings while restringing their guitar?
I bought one of the stretchers from stewmac
Cool Sweater bro 👍
The capo thing is actually a copy the original is pretty expensive and looks amazing I think Franklin straps makes it
That Aldi sweater though
You used the string stretcher wrong, they are a great tool that's commonly used by guitar techs. Check out this vid from EVH guitar tech starting at 23:50, he shows you how he uses them - ua-cam.com/video/8GBnOesSA-Y/v-deo.html
Violator, I see you're a man of culture
Was turned onto them by a few UA-cam friends. Sick band!
Nice vid. Preferred the old format tho!
I can see why. I don't love this format myself either, but apparently people prefer it. Retention is wayyy up on this video
@@sixstringtv1 Nice one! Keep doing ur thing then bro. Love from the UK
WHO PLAYS THEIR NEW STRINGS TO STRETCH THEM?! That's crazy. Just use your hands and give em a good stretch. Why would you get your play/practice routine going with unstretched strings, only to have to stop to retune over and over again?
you could also order new methods of destruction off alli express
I was kinda feeling that Maracca thing
Always stretch new strings

@ᴍᴇssᴀɢᴇ ᴍᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ👉@Mr_Sixstringtv WOW! I cannot believe it! This seems too good to be true!
While the string stretcher as a product is useless, it's also nonsense that you need to play your new set of strings to stay in tune. Just give them a good stretch by hand to tighten up lose windings around the tuners and the plasticity of the strings and simply tune again.
How do you think guitar/bass techs of sweaty players like Mark King do this, who switch strings on the bass/guitar during the gig and who want that extra bright sound of fresh strings?

@@sixstringtv1 you have obviously not broken a string in a live situation and had no back up hence a bar gig. You don’t have the luxury of a half hour to break it in. Just saying
@@sixstringtv1 then again you’re only like 17 so the bar scene is still out of reach. I do love your content so I’m not being disrespectful just pointing out it is actually a great product and you weren’t using it properly to begin with. That’s also a knock off of the real String Stretcha.
