This has to be the best zoom tutorial on the internet. Almost 99% of the videos I've seen so far are so frustratingly annoying and useless, while yours is pinpoint detailed and precise for new ESL teachers. Thank you. :)
Another classic from the world of Dotto! Not just “feature” but “advantages” then “benefits” to hosts and participants. What Steve does supremely well Is create a warm enabling engaging atmosphere which is so hard to do in a virtual space. I have learnt so much from him over the years in different apps eg Screenflow. Thanks Steve!

That's a slap my head moment, sharing a second camera (webcam). I saw it there before but never thought about how wonderful it could be for doing ZOOM meetings/webinars. Keep it up Steve, I remember your videos and tv shows from those days!!

This is so helpful! I am a Zoom neophyte trying to redesign my classroom corporate training to be live-virtual. All your video tutorials are great! Thank you.
Steve, you've done it again...EXCELLENT! If you're hosting from something other than a Mac, you can still share your iPad screen, but as a different user that you make a co-host. It took a little searching on my part to find the way to get "Share Screen" to show up on the iPad, but once you do it, it works fine. Ok, it's a bit of a kludge compared with what you showed, but it works and works well.
Great tip! Hugh, but I also think that there is a way to actually share an iPad in windows over Wi-Fi, zoom has details on their site on how to do that
Fantastic Steve. Just what I need right now to do some online instruction. Your videos show an easy path to success with zoom. Thank you for showing all of us how to use zoom.
Another gem Steve. Gotta say, screen sharing is the bomb on Zoom, absolutely fantastic. Sharing my Keynote presentations and adding any annotations is a breeze on my iPad Pro. Thanks for another video filled with much needed information. You planted the seed, now I can see a 100 ways to implement your teachings. Great content. Stay safe pal...⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have just discovered your channel. What great videos. Tech clearly explained in a genuine, non-clinical fashion. And I share your enthusiasm for the second camera. Thanks so much.
Thanks Steve! We are music teachers and band leaders, hosting playing sessions and rehearsals. We know we can't play together through Zoom (or anything else) for real due to the latency, so are getting up to speed with sharing videos and audios as play-alongs, conduct-alongs and music-minus-ones etc. for our presentations and rehearsals. Thank you for all the great info in this video series!
HI Steve , love your tutorials . For white board I do my notes in Word, copy and then it is ready for me to paste. Looks professional and a great time saver. It takes little time to do the next white screen while Zoom is on in the lesson.
Steve, just found your videos and love them. Have already shared with some others who I do zoom meetings with how to hide the control panel and they love it. I was wondering how you get the round view of yourself to appear while you are screen sharing. That is cool, but I haven;t been able to figure out how to do that. Keep up the great work.
I have been trying to figure out how to share a teaching video on zoom. I struggled with trying to do a demo live using my iphone attached to an arm about my drawing surface. The out put lagged tremendously on Zoom. First your suggestion to connect my ipad, or perhaps my phone using a cable made sense. I even downloaded Reflector and was advised using OBS as another option. I just bought a webcam, tripod, mic, etc. Your video gave me more hope. Now I see how I can share my screen. Thank you for your clear explanations and your personal video was great!
Hi, Steve. Thanks for your Zoom tutorials, which I have found very useful. as I now need to use this kind of technology for the first time. It's great you have considered that you have some viewers who are at beginner level (including me) who appreciate tips so basic that other instructors may not think of mentioning them. For example, I have felt inconvenienced that my Share Screen buttons were stuck at the top of the screen. Your tip that those buttons could be easily moved to the bottom is helpful to me. In the many other tutorials I've seen, no other instructor has thought to mention this. Thank you!
Helpful. Thank you. Bit more sophisticated than I need (I only need to share a document as a participant), but very interesting to see the range of what's possible

Is there any setting options that I could separate the video gallery and the full-screen view of the powerpoint so that both can be fully seen at the same time?
Can you teach us how to share things, but only a portion of the screen, like a newscaster, who has half the screen for them ( live, like zoom, etc) while the other half of screen is the doc, PowerPoint, etc??, kind of how we saw YOU in the 'circle' to the right', but saw your computer screen? (but didn't you say they won't see the cursor?) Thanks for the help!

great video; thumbed up ... but how do you swap the shared second camera so it is the small view and the primary camera is the big view? can you at least make both views equally sized?
Hi Steve, I'm using a Windows PC and a Microsoft Lifecam Studio camera with Zoom. Just a quick question as to how are you able to get that circular insert video of yourself speaking while doing a Share Screen? Thanks for your informative UA-cam videos.
I've been using Zoom and hosting meetings for the past five years. When sharing your screen, you should ***NOT*** click on "Optimize Screen Share for Video Clip." You get bad results if you do. I've spoken with people at ZOOM and they are aware of the issues. Bandwidth and device issues create unnecessary problems with that selection. When hosts and/or participants clicked on that feature, we saw pixelation and floating toolbars.. When the person sharing his/her screen turned that option off, the problems disappeared and we got terrific results.
Those are neat features but I find that using a simple text editing program as if it were a whiteboard works really well for me. One feature I would really like to see is the ability to share multiple specific application windows without sharing my entire screen.
You missed the best charing option in my opinion... 'A part of the screen' - I use it all the time so my guests only sees what is in the selected frame. Only program with this feature as fare as that I know. Love it ❤️
@@sbeckas In 'Share Screen' go to the 'Advanced' tab and choose 'Portion of Screen'. Thanks I’ll pass this along to the teachers at my school! We’ve been using Google classroom and Zoom for several weeks now, so they might be ready for some next level screen sharing!
Great video, Steve. I learned a few new tricks from this video. I have a question. I am a teacher and use screen sharing to show powerpoint. The problem with screen sharing is that once my students are in breakout rooms for group discussions, they can no longer see the powerpoint where I provide a slide that gives them instruction on things to discuss. What is your recommendation to get around this shortcoming? Thanks.
I just tried the share for video taken with my phone and it is a deal breaker! The video was very clear. So I now need to video my art demo using either phone or ipad until I get my webcam. Hopefully the video will not be delayed. I think the delay happens when it is live, right? Thank you, thank you!
For my computer I use a Wacom Intuos pad with either an Intuos pen or mouse. The pen works great for writing or drawing. The mouse I use when precision is needed to place the screen pointer. Wacom (Intuos) has a more affordable pad and pen series called Bamboo.
Hi Steve. Is it possible to share your screen with a power point and see all of your students at the same time? Or toggle between sharing your screen (a power point) and not sharing your screen several times without having to reboot the power point every time? Its important that I am able to see my students during the lesson. Thank you! I enjoy all of your tutorials!
Kris, you might need two devices. I start the meeting on my laptop and from there I can choose different views while I join the class from a device I have not logged in from (my tablet with stylus) I screen share the tablet (lecture in onenote) and watch and chat etc on the laptop. On the tablet I join without audio or video. Not sure if that made sense.
So impressed that you are able to teach me to use this. Can I use notability app in the whiteboard . I know I can use IPad on zoom on my dell computer but can I use this app or do I have to put in on keynote?
Nope, you should be able to use notability without any problem, it may take a little bit of practice to get all of the settings correct but it should work perfectly
Hello Steve, Thank you so much for this video. I have an additional question. I am looking to find a way to share my screen for a video and then impose myself on the screen while the video is playing like you did where you appeared in the circle at the bottom. Can you do that directly thru zoom? Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you
Hi Steve, Thanks for another gem video. I know I can use my phone as another participant, but why is it not possible to use it as 2nd camera as shown in this video. Any help you can give would be appreciated
Will these screen sharing options also work well while going live with FB? What about lives for something like IGTV? Is there a way to screen share while broadcasting to IGTV?
Steve! I am eager to share my iPad Pro during a Zoom meeting. I need that set-up in order to draw and create special notes during a meeting. Have you heard of the app, ManyCams? It is supposed to solve this problem and maybe it does a more seamless job of sharing screens. What do you think? I may go ahead and try to keep it all working within Zoom. That would be great but I'm open.
Hi, and thanks very much for the cool Ipad tip. I am looking for an answer to my screen share question: I'm a teacher and often screen share but need to also see all my students to call on them to answer questions, etc. I can't figure out how to share from my computer and see all my students at the same time. I really dislike the scroll through participants feature.
I’m not sure that that is going to be an option Jennifer, unless you think about using two systems and logging in and monitoring the room with one system while you’re presenting from the other, that could work usingTwo notebooks, or a notebook and a desktop computer or add a tablet into the mix
Hello! Thanks for your videos. I have been using Zoom for a few months without any major issues. Couple of days ago ran into a problem with screen sharing. For my computer I use a Wacom Intuos pad with either an Intuos pen or mouse. The pen works great for writing or drawing. The mouse I use when precision is needed to place the screen pointer. Wacom (Intuos) has a more affordable pad and pen series called Bamboo.
Intuos is correct name.
what camera are you using to record this? The quality of the video is great!!
Hi Steve. Is it possible to share your screen with a power point and see all of your students at the same time? Or toggle between sharing your screen (a power point) and not sharing your screen several times without having to reboot the power point every time? Its important that I am able to see my students during the lesson. Thank you! I enjoy all of your tutorials!
not that I am aware of Kris, I believe the screen share takes over the full feed, unless someone has a work around I am not aware of.
Hi Steve, brilliant - just what I needed to know about screen sharing but plus the options I knew nothing about!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello Steve,
Thank you so much for this video. I have an additional question. I am looking to find a way to share my screen for a video and then impose myself on the screen while the video is playing like you did where you appeared in the circle at the bottom. Can you do that directly thru zoom? Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you
What a great help this was thanks Steve
Very welcome!
Hi Steve, Thanks for another gem video. I know I can use my phone as another participant, but why is it not possible to use it as 2nd camera as shown in this video. Any help you can give would be appreciated
I am trying to figure that out too. Calling Apple to see if they know.
Thank you. Hi is the audio sharing also available using zoom free account?
Will these screen sharing options also work well while going live with FB? What about lives for something like IGTV? Is there a way to screen share while broadcasting to IGTV?
Another Great Video, I'm learning more from your videos than the ones done by Zoom.
Great to hear!
Can we share power point presentation
Thanks, Steve for showing the polling feature. I will be using that feature in a future meeting. Thanks again.
Great video. Thanks a bunch! Do you have to have a Mac to mirror your iPad our phone? As well can you use second camera if you have a PC?
Hello! Thanks for your videos. I have been using Zoom for a few months without any major issues. Couple of days ago ran into a problem with screen sharing. After pressing "screen share" button the next screen no longer gives the option to share airplay with iPad/iPhone, or connect with USB cable, neither does it show desktop sharing. Any suggestions
Great job, sir! Congrats from Brazil!
What VIDEO EDITOR do you use Steve? Really enjoy your videos! Great info and excellent editing.
We use a combination of Screenflow on the Mac for recording and Premier Pro for the final output
@@dottotech Thx for the quick reply! Ever think about doing a tutorial on basic (Zoom) video editing? The record function is nice, but the resulting 'video' could use EDITING :)
Hi there! Thanks for this video. Hey, for some reason, the DESKTOP option do not appear in my sharing options... I can only share applications... any advice?
Thank you for such a great video! I would love to see a video tutorial on Zoom webinars, especially how to manage panelists.
Thanks Steve
This was a great help thank you for every thing you do Steve you do a great job .
Thanks 👍
