In case you don't have a 15mm wrench, this can be done with a 6mm allen wrench as there is a 6mm hexagonal socket on the back of the screw 👍

Good info. Especially start by hand. Should dress the threads with a little grease too. ...for next time, and to keep moisture/sweat from seizing the pedal onto the crank.

We had the rhs back off, likely because it was threaded improperly.
Was able to rethread both crank and pedal. A little thread sealant just in case. My wife avoided a potentially serious injury when the pedal basically fell off. I am putting a 15mm wrench by the bike to tighten before riding.

That's an open end wrench, not a box end
