Ugh… i had so much trouble at the cycling class. I wouldn’t even do my cooling down because by the time I clipped out it was done. I even think I sprained my ankle at one point. And another day I left my shoe and clipped it with my hands. Lol. I’m glad I found your video. Thank u.
yes just tried my first on clip ons n a recommendation of my spin instructor and absolutely hated it, not only the clip in and out, but also the distribution of the weight, for some reason it was hurting my lower back...will definitely not be using clip on again...EVER
Omg thank you so much!!! I was so ready to get rid of this new bike from not being able to click In. I watched several videos and still couldn’t get it until your video right here!!! THANK YOU!!! I was so discouraged and on the verge of tears from aggravation!
01:49 FINALLY!! Thank you. It worked. This is my first time riding (just received mine) and this part alone made me think about returning the bike because nothing else worked. Much appreciated. Subscribed.
It does make it easier to hold the brake when existing too. Hold the break when clipping out, rotate off the bike and then hold the break while off the bike and snap off slowly.
I saw another video which advised to remove the rubber inserts from the cleats. I did and it was a magical transformation. NB it also helps when clipping out to say, “There’s no place like home!” Lol
That was waaaay more informative than I thought this topic could be! You've added lots of information for this newby. (my bike os delivered I just havent used it yet.) Waited for new shoes because they were too small to start. !
I had to do the same thing! Peleton chat recommended one size and I couldn't even get my foot all the way in. Swapped them out for a different size and voila! Still trying to master clipping in and out, but at least the size is right now.
Good tips, Steve! An option for the Peloton bike is to swap the Peloton pedals for SPD pedals. I purchased a set of Shimano SPD pedals which allow for a much greater choice of cycling shoes and the pedals have a flat side if you want to use street shoes on the bike.
That’s what I’m going to do as well. No matter how much adjusting we do, I either can’t get out or can’t clip in. Never had an issue with my road bike.
I had my bike delivered yesterday and the delivery team told me they had loosened the pedals for me so that they were more usable. They then stated my shoes would not make a noise when clipping them in! I find it so weird when watching Peloton videos, hearing everyone talk about the click…I literally don’t have that noise until I click out 😂 So when I click in I have to move my foot up to make sure the pedal is attached. I may tighten it now you’ve shown me how!
I just got my bike today I undid my shoes and left them clipped because I was having a hard time and I was afraid to break the bike or break my ankle 🤣🤣 thanks for the video!!
Hi Steve, I’ve had my bike for almost two months and was so unsure how to clip out. I clip out, right foot first, and then swing it behind me like I’m getting off a horse, then clip out on my left. Still feels like I’m going to snap the peddle off 😂. Love your vids! Xoxo
Thanks so much. Took me about 20 rides haha. I actually left the shoes attached the first time as I was stuck. Even on my road bike I’ve used cages forever as falling over at a stop light wouldn’t feel great. It’s still some force to come out but definitely much better. Thanks as always.
I don't own a Peloton but any cyclist will tell you to unclip when the pedal is downward and your leg is straight. You have far more rotational torque on your foot when your leg is straight. Unclip one foot then rotate the crank with your remaining clipped foot so the other leg is straight then unclip.
OMG. I've had a Peloton for two years and only rode it twice because I can't get the shoes on and off. I finally did it! Could get the left shoe off but I'll keep practicing that heel flick. Thanks!
How tf? Oh the break .. still struggling with it so no place like home click heels It worked! Tyvm ! Ive had this bike for a year shoes just permanently Hanging off the pedals. Can not thank you enough 🙏❤😊
Great video! I originally subbed to this channel for EV stuff - it has great content on EV's much better content than EVM!. RE: waiting for 20 rides to see if the pedal is still stiff... I'll be lucky to even _get_ to 20 rides!
Loving your videos! My peloton is arriving on Thursday so watching all your videos to make sure ‘I’m in the know’ for when it arrives. I’ve heard the pedals need changing every year, is this your experience?
I had problem clipping in and out. I called peloton hardware customer service and they told me they gave me the wrong cleats. Cleats should have black circle not square. They sent me new cleats and boom it’s hella easy to clip in and out. Hope that helps
Oh my gosh, you just help me so much! I didn’t realize I could kick the opposite way. I’m always kicking out that kicking in. Thank you because it was so frustrating. Get off the damn bike.
Hi Steve, Hope you are well. My Peloton pedal 'broke", unfortunately no longer under guarantee. Do you know of any cleat-compatible pedal that works with Peloton? Thanks for your help.
I'm good tahnks and hope you are! Peloton should be able to sell you a replacement. I switched my NordicTrack bikes to these Look Delta Pedals and actually like them more than the OG Peloton pedals: amzn.to/40ADZLR
Same her - watched the video - went to the bike - the shoes didn’t even move a millimeter until I adjusted it a bit but removing it cause me falling on my face forward. Seriously - does it really have to be so freaking difficult - it suppose to be fun! No wonder there are so many lawsuits- absurd design
I am at my wit's end.. I can NOT get my foot to clip out. I had to leave my shoes in the pedals because I felt my knees might break :( I contacted Peleton and they weren't much help. Is there a trick? I tried to loosen the torque on the back of the pedals as you showed, but no matter what I did (doing the method above) they would not budge. at ALL. My husband finally got them out but the cleats on the back turned sideways. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? It would be most appreciated!
Hi Nancie! Sounds very frustrating. Try this video: ua-cam.com/video/ebI1dFb1wj8/v-deo.html Failing that, I’ve fitted these to my NordicTrack bikes and they are much easier to clip in and out. amzn.to/3YhgZQi
peleton recommends NOT loosening the pedal tension. I did it anywway and it helped a lot. CAUTION: i found out WHY peleton does NOT recommend loosening the pedal tightness: the mechanism does not have an automatic end-stop, so if you loosen it too much a spring inside the pedal can come loose and detach, and the whole pedal then needs to be replaced. so it is probably wise if you do not loosen this adjusstment to its max, or maybe even close to the max...just enuf to help you unclip.

Thanks for this. I must be a bloody idiot because I have had the bike for a week and still can not get the shoes clipped in. I've fallen on the bike twice. Ouch! I am almost ready to send it all back
My husband said that the mechanism will loosen up with repeated use. No way is mine this easy. I’m tempted to loosen it. We have two bikes and my other one is very easy to clip out of. It’s older.
Want to hear something ironic? One of the main reasons I got the bike is because i have a torn ACL (i had surgery 10 years ago and it tore again last year), so i want to not put so much pressure on it. Guess what? On the very FIRST ride, it was so hard to clip out, that the twisting motion (the exact last thing you want to do when you have a torn ACL) injured my knee! Ha! If that’s not irony, I don’t know what is lol
@@SteveJulien thanks… yes, it’ll be fine. It’s just put me out of commission from running since I got the bike, now I have no choice BUT TO use the peloton exclusively 🤷🏻♂️
