    For future reference, "whiskers" is an old expression used to describe a beard, and I tend to think that it also generally describes particularly a thick and wiry one at that since authors usually qualify their description if it is not. Just to save you on future mystery Abe Lincoln portraits ;)

    • @midoriemi3859

    • @Ithenna
      @Ithenna 2 роки тому +5

      @@Rodger_Phillips Well, it's old to those a generation or two later. And it could also depend on where you grew up, whether the expression is still in use. In my experience, it was a term I only came across in books like Little House on the Prairie, or Old Yeller or something like that. My grandparents and great-grandmother never used the expression themselves either, but they were from up North and some came from a line of immigrants in the early 1900s, so naturally it wasn't part of their vocabulary. But I understand that the expression was also used more so in the deep south, and may still be used there for all I know.

    • @Ithenna
      @Ithenna 2 роки тому +1

      @@midoriemi3859 Lol, tbh, I'm not sure I've ever looked up the definition in a dictionary - it's just the definition I learned from reading it in context. I actually have no idea if the definition is supposed to mean a thick or wiry beard, but there always seemed to be a weird phenomenon where authors would add further descriptions if it didn't fall under what I supposed to be a "standard thick beard".

      @@MarchieHare That type of thumbnail is everywhere, Lavendertowne isn't the owner of that particular style. Jazza's similar in the past with over videos where he redraws things from media. The 'wrong' and 'right' colours is more than likely just a coincidence - red and green is quite literally the iconic colours associated with wrong and right and thats because of them being eye catching. Eye catching is the definition of what a thumbnail is aimed to be. I think this type of thumbnail is just a popular thing within the youtube digital art community because of those factors, the original on the left, the new design on the right. A youtuber i can use an example of also using a similar thumbnail style is PopCross Studios. In short, i think this is just a big coincidence and not Jazza stealing other peoples stuff, especially considering his very open stance on that topic.

    Great idea for a video, and the execution was well done. My only criticism is that I just don’t buy that Jazza magically didn’t know who any of the characters were until he was basically done drawing. I knew at least half of those characters instantly just from the written description alone, including one or two from stories/shows I’ve never even seen. Like, are we really supposed to believe Jazza didn’t know that the guy in his mid thirties with long greasy black hair and a big hooked nose was Snape??? I’m sorry, but that is one of the most iconic character descriptions of the last few decades, and anybody who has read Harry Potter would instantly recognize that.

I wonder who this is?” bit, but by the end he know who it is thanks to his process of drawing it.
