Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but I love you right now! Its over 90 degrees, and I only have so much time before my patience runs out. I knew there was a logic behind it, but for some reason, I couldn't make it all the way there. Turn in the direction of the fan! Yes! Brilliant!
my water pump went out this mourning i was checking out vidios on how to do it,, and watched yours cause it was about fan cluthes,,, i have that same alum. pipe wrench,, i cant wait to try it thanks
man i tried everything to get my fan clutch off nothing worked till i watched your video and tried the pipe wrench worked like a charm thanks for the video
Reading how to remove in 2 minutes made me chuckle due to the time already spent getting the fan shroud (spelling) off of this 2008 Pathfinder. I read there's a way to adjust the clutch mechanism, so this loud noise might lighten up, thank you for clear advice regarding unscrewing the fan itself ! AAA+++
Relax guys. I got mine off with 1-3/8 wrench and a dead blow hammer. No pipe wrench required. It’s been on there for 20 years. It came right off with only a few hard whacks with the hammer. Simple job.
Nice. Let me add that if you don't have a Freaking Giant Pipe Wrench, you can use a 10mm bolt (one from that pulley the fan is on) and put in the hole next to it, to lock it against the water pump that is behind it. Then you can take the fan/clutch off as he shows later.
Does it matter what size 10mm bolt to use? I've been racking my brain on how to get mine off since I have to replace my fan shroud. I've tried the wrench on the idle puller but the belt just turns.
All of you complaining about the wrench he used and the fan shroud already being off, grow up! The title says "2 minutes to remove the FAN!!" I found the video very helpful. As for the wrench? He first shows the tools you can rent or buy from an auto parts.... And as an ALTERNATIVE says you can use the big pipe wrench! And demonstrated how! Oh and yes I already own one! So it worked great! Thanks for the helpful video!
Here's how I've been doing it for years. Air hammer with a pointed bit. Grind a bit to a sharp point. Put the point on the left side of the nut and tap the trigger to make an indentation. Then lean the hammer to your right with the bit in the indentation. Tap the trigger. The nut is loose.
How I've done it for 20 years works every time and I've showed 100s of people how to now on the new water pump box it says will void warranty lol I just bump the trigger not try to brake the dam thing off but some people got to show u how it's done I guess lol
You say in the comments you got your massive pipe wrench at harbor freight, however you neglected to mention the inch size. Is it the Aluminum 36-inch one?
How do you pull off the fan housing, I am getting ready to replace the clutch fan on my Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT 5.4L V8 this weekend as soon as the part comes in
Did you mean black belt? I'm probably being dumb considering how much time I spent on this thing, lol. I wouldn't think you meant belt, but I've lost my mind at this point.
U put the big pipe wrench on and the thin wrench on the same nut??? So is the weight of that huge wrench holding the water pump in place and u hit the thinner wrench? Can't see of the big wrench.
My favourite part is "if you don't have the proper tool you can just use this" (as if anyone has a human sized pipe wrench available). Thanks buddy. thanks a lot.

Put a strap around the water pump pulley and have someone hold it down while you tape the nut downward 😁

It's better if you adjust the deflector dish to emit a tachyon beam.
Yeah
I had to remove the fan, pulley and pump as a unit. Fan nut tool slipped around the nut due to age and open end very thin wrench.
My shroud is one piece on 93 ford e150 with 5.8L. This is going to be fun. Thanks for the vid.

Thanks for watching Peter!
Put a piece of thick cardboard between the radiador before starting to remove that parts
A nice piece of sheet metal is better
So with the belt off how would you know if your fan is in good working order. Mine moves freely in both directions?
Wouldn't the fan unscrew itself when it spins, since the direction it spins is the same direction you turn the nut to remove it?
Nope. It winds itself more on. Thanks for watching!
