your videos made me remember all the why this band or person sucks or is overrated. Always on some crappy webcam and about this metalcore or punk band. Usually with a whiny white dude. And these were common, almost as much as why this youtuber or instagram personality is hated videos today.

Dude, you don´t have to be so modest - okay you don´t have hair - that´s sucks, BUT I still think you are a good looking guy! And yes Danny is beautiful, but it is another way of looking good. People look different and people look good in uncomparable ways. There is not such a thing like the most beautiful woman or man in the world. There are a million most beautiful women outthere, which I can appriciate and I believe it is the same way with guys. I think those haters really just have small balls in that case :D
And really don´t underestimate a good photografist either! The most of us could improve our look a lot, so if you care about it, just do it.

I was only vaguely aware of The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and The Spice Girls, and that was due to the commercials and flipping through channels. The Spice Girls and Britney dressed and sang like whores so obviously I wasn't allowed to listen to them, and I think The Backstreet Boys were too hot. Maybe it was the goatees. My family didn't trust men with goatees. Satan has a goatee probably. I didn't even know about rock music beyond the 80s until I hung out with my aunt a few times. She was henceforth known as the "cool aunt" by me. She's still pretty rad.

Dude's got a pretty decent voice and there's some decent riffs, just fits way more into rock/radio metal genre than you would think.

I honestly think 90% of the reason that people hate these bands is aesthetic and has nothing to do with the music. I think the die-hard metal heads kind of just view bands like Asking Alexandria as scene kids trying to muscle in on their subculture from a foreign subculture.

yea you have a point i mean i don't mind some escape the fate songs but the aesthetic isn't my thing. plus i think metal as a whole was always trying to steer away from the "rockstar attitude" seen in other forms of rock. like when the singer gets a lot more attention than the other band members

I think it's safe to say Andy is one of the most wholesome/unproblematic people in metal. I loved him when I was in middle school, and still do to this day. His music in BVB and his solo stuff is great imo

I’m not usually a commenter on videos, but I just wanted to leave a quick one to express my appreciation for this video. I’m a longtime Black Veil fan (around 2007 when I became aware of Andy as an individual), and to no one’s surprise, I come under a lot of scrutiny when asked who my favorite band is. Over the years it’s become easier to justify / discuss as people have gravitated away from their militant hatred, but it continually shocks me how vitriolic some people are toward a band that is, as you’ve said, comprised of such genuinely nice and hardworking dudes. I could talk at length about this, but just wanted to say I really appreciated that you took the time to look into Andy’s past for this video; a lot of people dismiss Black Veil’s old look (the STWOF era) as copying other bands at the time (like ETF), but anyone with even cursory knowledge of the band’s trajectory knows that Andy was inspired by Motley Crue and KISS from an extremely young age, and that this is a vision he’s worked and strived toward for as long as he can remember. This is a great, well-researched video with some really nuanced commentary. Thanks for putting this out!

I'm not ashamed to say that BVB was one of the bands that introduced me to metal. I don't necessarily enjoy their music now, but lying on the floor of my grandma's house and moodily listening to Set The World On Fire was definitely a formative moment for me

Nightstar Marine if Dahvie has done no wrong then why does he ignore the whole situation when people ask questions that he can LEGALLY answer about the case? Why are the police not stating anything about it anymore? If the investigation has stopped they both should say that it has ended. Plus from someone who used to listen to them a lot and love the fandom, it’s nothing but toxic anymore because of Dahvie. I also personally wouldn’t take any opinions or “proof” from anyone in the fandom because they were not there. Dahvie should speak up himself and stop letting his fans do it for him. Plus I don’t think you know that if you actually try to have a conversation with Jayy about it and be civil, he will actually respond and have a conversation about it. I believe Dahvie did something wrong and from a legal POV I know that they cannot take him to court because there is no physical proof at this time. But just a note: always remember to do research on the whole topic because there is more then one side to a story.

This channel is really a blessing in the heavy music community as a whole. Most people dont approach all genres with this much of an open mind and understanding as Finn. His positivity towards things he doesnt neccesarily like is really wise and we can all learn from it.
The guy saying he'll beat up Andy forgot to take into consideration that he's 6'4 and has a severely high pain tolerance (he finished a show while working off three freshly cracked ribs and a broken nose). Also, brokencyde is not hated for their music anymore, it's cause the band was accused of sexual misconduct with underage fans with a ton of evidence to back it up

I remember going to metalfest in cali in the early 2010s and seeing bvb perform on a sidestage. Whoever was on the mainstage, wasn't feeling so I checked em out. They were definitely cringey emo style stuff, but I remember some kid threw a band t-shirt up on stage, the lead singer asked him what band it was and the kid said it was his own band. So the lead singer pulled him up on stage, said everyone check out this kids band, put the t-shirt on and wore it for the rest of the show. I thought that was pretty cool, and I'm willing to bet none of these neck beard fucks would have done something like that for that kid.
Danny Worsnop is an elite vocalist in my opinion. On the older AA albums, he can hit these crazy low growls, plus doing mids and highs. He's also a great singer, and can obviously do multiple genres.

Danny's got lazy with his vocals. He CAN be great, when he wants to.
He used to be. I considered him one of, if not the best vocalists out there, but he burned out. This new rock stuff they're doing is really boring and lazy, and his vocals just sound gassed.
I've seen them live a couple times and the vocals sucked every time. The band as a whole is just not that good live, in my opinion....

I recently went to a show and made the mistake of entering the mosh pit...I had so many sweaty, smelly guys thrown up against me that I came out of there dripping with sweat and smelling like a pair of gym socks. My friend had to spray me down with AXE in the parking lot afterwards because I smelled so bad.

Oh man same. I just stopped listening to their music after senior year, not because I didn't like them but because I was focused on other music for my writing (helps my thought process when I think about different character reactions and all) and I don't have much spare time to just listen to them and I have very few uses for their songs when it comes to writing. I went from being able to ride the school bus and listening to BVB, just because I loved the music and not for writing purposes, for thirty minutes every day to not having that. But I recently got started listening again and I don't regret it. Still love this band with all my heart and that doesn't surprise me even after two years.

I think a lot of the hate comes down to jealousy & people generally feeling bad about themselves when they see others succeed- especially when those people succeeding also happen to be gorgeous. I got so much hate from every corner of the earth for calling out the attitudes toward women in the scene, but I also scored like 20k hits in a day, so that was pretty cool. But the fact remains, people need to stop treating women in metal and punk as second class.

Asking Alexandria still has some great songs imo. Danny's vocals are one of the best in the genre and to be fair AA is probably the only metalcore/post hardcore band I have ever cared for
I honestly cant see why Black Veil Brides is so hated, I don’t think this just because I listen to them, but I just don’t get it. All the members are so damn nice past and present, and the songs they have, have meanings whether you pick it up straight away or not.

Musically they aren't bad and it's actually really good sort of vanilla 80s metal with more subdued vocals. The guitar in particular is really good and so is the vocalists voice. The problem is that they shoot themselves in the foot by having so cartoonishly hot topic stage costumes not even the most nostalgic 30ish person that was a teen in that era would defend it.
Also the lyrics that tend to heavily pander to the cosplay teenage outcast crowd
