Maybe it's just me but anytime I watch a marathon video I try to imagine what each participants life story is, why they got into running and what made them want to run a marathon. Absolutely fascinating to see so many people battling themselves and kicking ass!
For the last week that I have had to run on treadmill, I've watched this video for my last couple of miles. Workout always ends up a mini progression run! Awesome, Kofuzi!!!
it's pretty common in Taiwan to see people wearing these slippers as the running shoes. These slippers are specially made for running. the benefit of them is to relief the pain and discomfort from feet swelling after long miles.
This is so great. In the past you expressed doubt about your ability during the race and this one you knew you had the grit and training to do it. I am so glad you shared this with us, congrats again
Props for a 2:56! New PR right? And with all the footage, even more props. I'm hanging right under the 3hr mark so your runs are real inspiration for me.
This is incredibly impressive and inspirational. I remember how much and long you struggled to break 3. And now you did it in 2:56 in a Majors marathon half way across the world! Goes to show what hard work, consistency and continuous effort can produce.
You worked hard, pushed hard, wanted it, and got it done!!! Huge congrats, Mike!!! Loved reliving the race through your vlog. We were blessed to be part of this once in a lifetime experience🇯🇵❤
You are inspiring to me. I started running again a couple years ago (after a 15 year hiatus since HS XC). Your drive to push hard and succeed is absolutely amazing to watch. You deserved this PR and I hope you feel as proud as you should. You really gave it your all! I’m nowhere near your level right now. I’m 34, but you give me hope that maybe, just maybe I could BQ by the time I’m 40 if I keep on giving my everything, every day, despite not having a high level of baseline “talent” (VO2max-wise).
WELL DONE!!!!!!! Dude, I could feel your pain, your energy and your commitment and dedication to your goal!!! WOW, I'm so happy and proud of you. You wanted it so bad and pushed for it all the way to the end!!! Just so awesome! Thanks for taking us along on the run. I know it's hard to film while running fast and you make it look as good!
Incredible race footage, it must be so difficult to carry the camera for so long. Congrats on an amazing performance, your determination is an inspiration to us all.
Wow that was some congestion at the start! That singlet is 🔥! I was really surprised at the course; had no idea it was so many out and backs. Love how you were crushing it, and yet still cheering others on. Way to go man! Congratulations on the PR!
Dude, this is amazing! Not only did you run an awesome marathon, but you also recorded a cinematic masterpiece WHILE running it 🔥 Currently training for my first marathon and videos like this keep my motivation up ❤
So amazing! I'm currently training for my first ever half marathon and I'd be happy to run it in the time you have ran a whole marathon. Well done!! I also really like the Asics vest top you're wearing - really cool!
I will be running my first marathon in Rome in a few days and I'm aiming at 3h, I'm starting from the back of the pack and inevitably I'm going to run without the aid of same pace fellow runners and or Pacers. I sense it will be hard, this video gave me goose bumps and makes me looking forward to my first journey in the marathon world. Great effort and awesome vid, congrats!
I remember bugging you (as many people) about running with a camera… Happy I was wrong and you held your ground! Awesome footage and congrats on the race result. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This video deserves 25647 likes. Huge, huge congrats Ko! I have followed you since your 10 mile Soldier Field run. I am so happy to see how far you have come…both physically as well as mentally. I am most impressed with how much confidence you have gained…it’s so good to see how much you believe in yourself.
A year ago, I randomly watched this video and it really inspired me to start running. Last Sunday (Sep 22nd), I ran my first full marathon with official time 3:55:04. Just want to revisit this video and say THANK YOU, KO !
Amazing video, amazing editing, amazing music. Mind blowing run. From all those “chasing 3” videos from last year which were my first introduction to your channel in dec, to learning about how you had started training seriously only a few years back and were (perhaps well) above 4 hours, to now seeing you simply just DECIDE to run a sub 3 marathon under unfamiliar conditions. Simply mind blowing and inspirational. GOOD JOB man! Proud of you. ❤💯💪
Can't explain how incredibly inspiring your race day videos are! I will be running my first ever marathon in Chicago this upcoming October, partly because of videos like this. Congratulations on the 2:56!! Well deserved.
I rarely ever comment..but dang you nailed it with this vid. Without a bunch of talking and breakdown( which those vids have their place too) But just in terms of feeling right in the middle of it. The music , edit, quick pace updates, vid length. When I physically feel my body energy recall past race days watching something....👍🏻
Hey Mike, stop being so darn inspirational!!! The GRIT to the finish, the humility, the slow motion capturing all of the other runners emotions as well. Appreciate all that you do. 👊
It was Tokyo where I did my first marathon ever, memories that will last forever. Despite being a bit painful the last 8km I managed to make it under 4 hours. I paid my inexperience in the long distance, more accustomed to half marathons, but a life lesson. I am glad that things clicked and had a blast of a race while capturing all the vibes. Congrats Kofuzi!
great job,, a former marathoner here brings back the memories and gave me a great smile on your accomplishment and to all those who have the desire over reason
Congrats Michael! You’ve been my main inspiration over the last 5 years or so on my running “journey”. You’re killing it! Congrats dude. All the hard work has paid off
You're an inspiration. You're still pushing on past that sub 3, I'm still chasing it. Going for 3:15 or 3:20 this year and than it's in my sights. "This is what we came to do let's do it" ff A.
Just wow. Your race day videos always have me tingling as I watch them because they always capture the moment but this seriously had me have shivers all over. Amazing job!
What a race 🇯🇵. I heard some one yelled KOFUZI , and suddenly you were running by my side for a few seconds , you were flying! You aren’t a UA-camr , you ARE an inspiration! Congratulations on your PB! I finished sub 3 too! 😅
Great video, congrats!! The music, great video and commentary really created some tension as we went along, I actually stood up and started pacing around the halfway point lol. Awesome
My friend Kevin flew all the way from NY to run this race. He ran it in a mega time of 3:03:17. I’m super proud of him! I’ll be checking the video to see if I can spot him!
This video is incredible! I'm so jazzed for this marathon, but I'm not sure I could handle the flight/time difference and then run the distance. Your skills to run the race and film/create content are next level!
This is my go to video when i'm feeling lazy or unmotivated to run, thank you mike for making this video! I swear the music and ambiance alone gives me energy to run every single time!
It’s so great to see Tokyo again through your camera and the marathon experience. Naturally it makes me want very much to do it myself someday! I’m very proud to know you for many reasons 🎉Congratulations on a beautifully executed race and equally excellent video!
Hey Mike! I stumbled upon your channel and this is the first video of yours I’ve seen. You made me tear up. You are inspiring. I’ve been so unhealthy my whole life but I’ve just started running. It’ll be a year this August. I couldn’t run for 3 minutes straight when I started. And now I’m training for my first 21k. Thank you for your helping me dream BIG.
Incredible and impressive! Congrats on the achievement, and thank you for documenting your race. I ran this race too, but could never describe the experience quite like what you have captured here. Amazing work!
I think i saw you on the course and I can see my back twice in your video! Well done! I did my own massive PR in the race. I enjoyed your footage! Well done!
Completely awesome video ! Amazing look at the whole route and all the gear on other people in the 3hr pace groups and runners ! Congratulations on a great finish ! An amazing video and great footage on other platforms ! Thank you !
This is amazing footage and congratulations!!! Considering how much faster you would be without a camera and you still ran this fast.. hats off, for real!! Kinda made me emotional as well, running Tokyo is a dream of mine, I used to live there as a teenager, it would mean the world to me to be there and this footage brought me at least a little closer, even if it’s just virtually. thank you!!
Seeing you battle through the pain barrier at the end there is inspiring. I’m running the Rome marathon in less than 2 weeks and this video has got me so excited. Thank you
Thank you for holding the camera sticks for me as an average runner, sitting in the office, imaging/dreaming of running side by side with you.. Awesome!!
Congratulations on your sub-3:00. It was inspiring and I am still always amazed you do that carrying your video camera and selfie stick. Looks like it was a tough one, but you got it done!
I was watching this on my television. I had to pause, just to come here to comment how great the video is, and I am not even done watching. Wonderful job.
Wow nailed it. I don't remember too much talk about the prep for this race so be interesting to hear the race recap and how 6:40s seems to be the new normal. Guess also shows don't be too worried if the first mile is a bit slow/crowded. Looks like was a blessing in disguise in the end.
Love this video and massive congrats! I finished in 2:56:35 so around the same time, but was too dialed in to see much of beautiful Tokyo. Thanks much for this! 🇯🇵
Amazing! Thank you for the footage. Brought tears to my eyes to relive that amazing experience! i was about 50 mins slower than you and there is no way I could have filmed it!! Many thanks! Amazing!
Did my first marathon yesterday, Dublin marathon. When my motivation was low during my training I would stick this video on and it would pump me up. Thanks for helping me through my journey kofuzi, onto the next one!
when motivation wanes especially when work and life gets hectic, swinging by to the channel does wonders! amazing job Mike! love the work and long may it continue! Cheers from Singapore!
Congrats, Mike! Love the opening with the flatlay tease. Thanks for taking us with you to Tokyo! Can't wait for your recap and runners weekend. And... ahem... ko x itahara = kofuzi run club merch. Want. (Take my money please.)

Yeah, just you
@@BumiroundNo! me too 😂
Watching people run marathons always makes me emotional lol
I wanna do marathon but my reason is that, what if I don't train for marathon and just sign up for a marathon and just run it.
Running heals you. Keeps you away from depression, over thinking. It is sort of meditation. It makes me self dicipline
I've never found anyone making better race event footage than kofuzi - just amazing work!
Totally agree to this!
For the last week that I have had to run on treadmill, I've watched this video for my last couple of miles. Workout always ends up a mini progression run! Awesome, Kofuzi!!!
RETWEET top-tier footage
Running that fast and still catching quality footage. That is awesome. Kofuzi doesn’t disappoint.
5:11 Unbelievable running gear!
He is a legend❤

Goosebumps all over. Now I'm extremely psyched for the Mumbai marathon even though there are over 8 months left!
Congratulations! That start was insane. Brings back good memories. I did the Tokyo Marathon in 2018. It was epic!
I wonder if they put a bit of time between the starts of gate 1 (Corrals A,B, C) and gate 2 (Corrals D, E, etc)
2:56 and a splendid movie. bravo!
The footwear choice of some of these runners is wild! Great video as always Mike, it gets better with each iteration.
