How high pressure oil will seal between ram and top cylinder cover.
This jack is one-way and the oil is in the upper part of the piston and pushes the piston down.
This hydraulic jack is used in a device that I will post a full video of in the next 10 days, subscribe right to see it.
U need more 4 more screws hole so it can withstand the pressure when press. Your gland head needed a WIPER seal so dust will not go in the cylinder. Your next design the piston should be more thicker with added WEAR RING seal. Good start to design own cylinder
Watch my last video. This jack is used in the device and the piston never reaches down to this flange. All you need to do is keep the shaft balanced in the center.
The oil pressure flows above the piston, not below. When the pump is pressed, the piston comes down, but a spring is used to return it, which you can see in my last video.

But i have long years experience with hydraulic presses and jacks i highly recommend to make the back flange like bolt thread it at least 1/3 of the cylinder length beside o ring at the top of the flange this way you well be safe more. Thank you for your video
Your opinion is correct, but about double-sided jacks, which are usually made of cast iron
Because the material of the piston and the shaft are both steel and it welds well, they are separated into one piece and the oil flows only on top of the piston, the oil pressure is directly on the shaft. I have been making this type of jack for fifteen years and it does not break.
