I love it! What makes it great is that it is totally unique, you built it by hand and it makes great use of an old rotor. A waste of time to some, sure. There are many things they don't understand. But whether you keep it for yourself or sell it or give it as a gift, it has 10 times the value of a store-bought unit. I also loved the pace and quality of the video. Great work! Inspiring!
You build it, utilize it and see how rewarding building DIY home projects like this and feel good about it inside. All it starts with is a creative imagination and work skills.
This is not a contest of the world's greatest welding cart. Nor does it mean this guy couldn't afford to just buy one. He looked at the brake rotor and saw the perfect base for his gas bottle and the rest of it evolved from there. I love the style and design like the angled supports. My welding cart started its life as a 2 drawer filing cabinet. Installed a plywood base and made room for my Argon bottle. Installed large 4 inch casters from Harbor Freight. Added places for the welding cable storage, and now I have 2 drawers. One for my aluminum spool gun, and another for my extra spool of 0.030 welding wire. I bought the filling cabinet from a thrift store for $10. I use it all of the time. My welding cables on one side, and my 30' power cable on the other.
That's a great idea and I just passed two smaller file cabinets on the side of the road the other day waiting for the trash man, I usually pick up such things because I always have use for them but one I was in my work truck that was kind of full and two I have no more room at my house but for this I would have made the effort, I may try and go back by now to see if they're still there? While watching this, the thing that struck me was the center hole of some might be about the same size as an Olympic barbell. While they might not be as “efficient” as a good set of iron weights today, several brake discs on a bar might be a cost effective way to pump iron without incurring the post COVID cost of weight sets.
I didn't know why there are so many negative comments on this. You made a nice welding cart and finished it well. Ignore the haters. I bet their welding carts aren't as nice as yours!
Well it was integral. It gave him a perfectly formed depression for his tank to sit in. Of course, you couldn't do that without the right sized brake disk! 😂
Well done! I miss weekends and evenings in the garage organizing, making parts shelves, just generally faffing about. About age 10, my nephew welded a toilet paper stand for the garage bathroom using a rotor base and pencil steel. He graduated college a few years back, and we are still using that stand
The brake disc might seem an almost inconsequential part of the construction, yet it almost perfectly supports the gas cylinder and a welding cart utilizing a recycled brake disc is just plain cool!!

Nice build, HandCraft. You might want to use some rubber tubing and slip these onto your two handles. Using a heat gun, you could melt the ends neatly on both sides, thus creating padded handles.
