The Return of Copperhead - LEGENDARY CHEVY C10 TRUCK BUILD - Stacey David's Gearz S13 E10

  • There’s nothing like a good mystery. One of our favorite Gearz mysteries is the whereabouts of Copperhead, the legendary C10 that Stacey built more than a decade ago. It seemed like the truck just disappeared. Well, it’s back! And Stacey was reunited with it at the C10 Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX. Tag along as Stacey gets a chance to get behind the wheel again and boil some tires. Back in the garage, Stacey tackles a fuel injection install on a Jeep Scrambler, then checks out the new Core Doors from Bestop. There’s a lot going on and plenty of smoke on the Texas Motor Speedway on this episode of Gearz.

I agree. After starting to put together cars over the years I am realizing Copperhead was really well built as opposed to a lot of the stuff I see now.

I just want to thank you Stacey. Most gearheads can trace their love of cars back to one event or one vehicle. Some grew up around them. I didnt. My parents were not car people but as a 10 year old boy I'd sit in front of the TV every Saturday not to watch cartoons but to watch Powerblock and Trucks was my favorite. In particular Project Copperhead was one of the vehicles that shaped this young gearhead's life. Now almost everything I do revolves around cars or racing in some form or fashion. I'm glad you found this iconic truck from my childhood.

I am so glad that I just found this channel. I used to love watching Stacy David on “Trucks” as part of the Saturday and Sunday morning Powerblock vehicle build related television shows. When Stacy David was on “Trucks” and the one show dedicated to off road vehicles were my 2 favorite shows of the 4 or 5 shows that were a part of the Powerblock series of shows. I then discovered Stacy David’s “Gearz” show and used to watch it too but then don’t know whatever happened to it until now. Needless to say, now that I have discovered the UA-cam channel, I will be watching the videos on here frequently, on a regular basis. Also, if I were to ever want someone or were to ask someone to build a truck for me, Stacy would be at the very top of my list of people who I would ask and pay whatever his asking price was.

Just want to start out by saying thank you,I grew up watching you build cars most kids it was cartoon for me it was power block. Everything I know about turning wrenches I have learned from watching you guys.
Onto project cooperhead I'm currently trying to build an 82 C10 Silverado for my oldest son as a graduation gift this year but with buying a new home and now a newer car this project keeps getting pushed back.
The truck was a 1 owner all orginal farm truck. The previous owner was side swiped by a semi truck driver that fell asleep at wheel. Also the previous owner son jack knifed a trailer and pushed the bumper into the bed.
So the whole driver side needs to redone and interior reassembled so we have a long road ahead. The plan was a father son project but with my son having hypothyroidism it's hard for him to help.
So thank you again for helping shape me into gear head I am today.

What a satisfying tribute, Stace. I had wondered what became of copperhead for many years, after watching the original build on Trucks in the early-mid 2000s, as a youngster. Powerblock on TNN was a weekend morning well spent, thank you for the fond memories; from Toronto, Canada.

I've commented on this truck before. I built a 67 just like this one back in the early eighties. It had a 427 big block with all the goodies. And oddly enough I painted it almost the exact same color as Copperhead. The name of the color I used was bittersweet orange. Only difference was I had a 6 inch stripe going across the top of the cab from side to side on the back corner and above the back window. It went down the doors at the same angle as the front post and down to the rocker panels. The stripe was a lighter brown color that contrasted the bronze color of the truck. And it had a darker pinstripe on the outer edges of the stripe. When I found out Copperhead had been sold, it brought back my feelings that I had when I sold mine. Regrets!!! I still wish I had kept it!!!
