Thank you Jay for having the best car channel on UA-cam. No corny music muffling the car sounds, no annoying intros, just straight unfiltered car notes and information! Merry Christmas to the team and you!
Great show nice trucks. I drive 18 wheelers and the reason most are drum is because up intill bedix came out with there system two years ago there were no reliable disc breaks for 18 wheelers but now they are all switching to disc. They are way easier to service and stop 140 feet shorter than drum, last much longer and don't over heat as quickly.
Beautiful trucks!!! I do believe I have seen early 60s GM trucks in magazines that were made for mining companies. Modifications were done by a separate company. The fabrication work was rough at best, but was functional for what they was used for. Neat concept, but those trucks were nothing like these trucks. Also, there is a local farmer that has been putting Cummins engines in 70s style square bodies. He uses long bed, 4 door, 4x4 trucks. But they are truly ranch trucks. Again, beautiful trucks and thank you for sharing. And especially, thanks for saving these old trucks.
I love the sound of cummins turbo diesel with proper exhaust, never gets old 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm just glad it's only on video so I don't have to smell it.
@@duronboy2 wdym? Doesnt smell unless you've got an exhaust or oil leak. I've been driving my 12v cummins for a year
@@RiggyRonnie Lol, he's speaking from the perspective of the poor slug FOLLOWING your 12 valve. It stinks plenty from that direction....
Gooseneck Trailer Hitch .......... love to see that trailer hooked up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i laughed when he said that. that truck is useless as a tow rig. if he'd left it near stock height it could be used. otherwise pointless being a dually. i cant stand jacked up duallies with huge wheels/tires. those "bros" dont know when your duals are so close together they will rub and eventually blow out when loaded (which i guess they never do) some classic 16" alcoas or even 19.5 alcoas with stock traction tires would make that truck look sooo much better and actually be usable. the yellow C60 actually looks fine as-is because its a single rear wheel rig. nothing wrong with a lifted truck but they become useless as a work/tow rig after that.
The goosneck hitch and lack of air ride shows this guy's lack of knowledge of anything trucks. Resto-Trash!
dsruddell this^ even 24.5s on a 2nd gen is okay, 10 lug all the way
No need for one. Bumper pull is fine
@@jimmychanbers2424 Even a bumper pull will need one heck of a drop hitch !
OMG!!! but I have to admit that the producer of these vehicles is a real car enthusiast & a mechanic with knowledge!!! It is amazing how easily you see in USA these kind of family businesses that are so specialized in reproducing/renewing old cars with awesome results!!!
Thank you to the editors for keeping all that glorious 12-Valve noise prominent in the video!

I can think of about 200 vehicles that would be more fun to drive on a long hwy trip than that ridiculous beast.
I love that mustard yellow and white truck that’s right up my alley, this was a nice little gem to see
Yeah I like the retro colors and height. Very cool truck indeed.

Does the guy know who he's talkin' to?
Drooling over the trucks though.

Yea he's talking to the guy driving his truck
Yeah I don't care for this guy
That goldenrod and white truck jumped straight to the top of my "Want It" list. Well, the truck "Want it" list anyway. I have many lists...
I didn’t know I wanted a truck until I watched this. Camping trips would be greatly enhanced with one of these, but I doubt it’d fit down our rural English lanes. Absolutely stunning work of art.
it would have Austins in its wheelwells!!
"It's a family business"
"Oh so the kids work there too?"
"No but we have families working there" 😂😂😂
close enough I guess ;)..
I bet he's so used to saying that he doesn't really know what it means.
One day probably it seems family oriented maybe they’re kids just didn’t want to do it? But that 72 though😍
I became an patriotic american when i layed my eyes on this wonderful machine... and i´m german! Damn nice Truck ! MURICA!
You'll still use it to invade Russia in the winter....fail.
I like it! Glad to see Jay reviewing outside the box! Anything rolling on wheels
I converted a 1995 F350 crew with a 1991 Cummins TD. The most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Bryan from Vancouver
The dually is nice but honestly don't care for the lift.. I think stock height or maybe a 3" lift would look better.
Same here. I bet it'd look a lot better if it was 3 inches lower.
I agree also. It's just raised to high. It rides really bad on those leafs, airbags would have been much better choice.
I agree. Beautiful paint on both trucks.
Same here. I prefer the stock ride height on any truck, and I like levelling kits on 1/2 ton trucks. Lifts aren't my cup of tea lol
The height aside it would have looked better regardless with period wheels.
The difference between a good job, a great job, and a perfect job... Is how seamlessly factory it looks.
Very Nice .... Merry Christmas to Jay and the crew ...
How dare you!
I love the original steering wheel! So many of these resto-mods have that gross billet wheel.
The "regular guy" buying a $250,000 truck. lmfao
The "regular guy" who just happens to have $250,000 is one who just won the lottery.
Hey man you just gotta eat some bran flakes then you can afford one too.
Rob K
Even if you could afford one, why would you want it? It's too big to maneuver around in normal circumstances not to mention in tight places, hard to park and get in and out of, the list goes on. Completely impractical and a waste of money, at least with an exotic vehicle you have a better chance in maintaining its resale value, with this in 10 to 20 years time it would be worth nothing.
Wouldn't surprise me if Jay bought this one...lol maybe he ordered one
Good point!!! Don't forget that Jay's the only other person to ever drive it so seems very exclusive to just get a test drive let alone own it.
I love how in nearly every single video Jay leaves an indicator blinking away. If he does that with a BMW that'll confuse the hell out of other LA drivers. 😁
I have noticed that too😁
I have a 1964 Ford Pickup F250 that I am getting restored. These a great rigs.
I am overall a GM kind of guy however beyond that I am a diesel guy and beyond that even I am a truck guy so I have absolutely no problem with having a Cummins powered Chevy these things look awesome I would love to have one for myself one day lol
Serious question: Have you ever owened a sports car? If yes what was the make and modle?
I love the creative ways they tried to hide this thing rolling coal so Jay doesn’t get burned at the stake in Comifornia!😂
I don’t see why every state shouldn’t ticket or impound any rolling coal 3/4 or 1 ton commuter diesel truck.

@Toob247 Toob247 ehh... No ring. And I thought I heard more pain in that response than disappointment.
I think family business is the best way to go. Wanting to bring pride to your family name has way more pull than simply working to please shareholders.
The truck is beautiful. But you have to be stark raving mad to want one. The truck is insane. It is a vanity project. It is completely impractical for real work. It has to be the craziest, funniest thing I have seen on Jay's channel.
more so than a tank powered car, or a 26 liter aero car???
@@tomschweikert9537 YES without a doubt. Those cars are one offs and no one is pretending that there is going to be a production line producing another one. In all seriousness does that guy really think he is going to produce more than a dozen of those? I bet he will be lucky to produce half that.
They look better than anything on the road today! Nothing like the 60s and 70s style!
That's a lot of lift. The '66 Chevy would look so much better if it had been modded closer to stock. I still appreciate the work that went into it, though.
Agree with that so much! I've seen photo's of this thing for a while now, but seeing the video from further away driving it down the road... its WAY too tall. some 19.5's with stock type tires, this thing would look great.
Exactly my thoughts. Usually lifting is done to create clearance for larger tires. I think the lift should be lowered by an inch and the tyres swapped out for 38s. You should have breaks and axles capable of handling them in a truck that big anyway. Probably not the best choice to run down the highway with, but they look much better. People are often surprised how much better older suvs and trucks look with bigger modern tires and hubs.
I've dreamed of building a truck this 66 for 30 years but I do agree the lift is way over.
I'm sure Jay had some thoughts he kept to himself while filming this one
Most definitely!
For sure, the Rtech guy is a slimeball

The guy couldn't stand it! Lol.
Mister M
It’s his personal truck so it’s probably killing him. Down shifting and tromping it
unless Jay is red-lining the engine, you wonder what the builder is afraid is going to happen. Will it reveal cooling issues if Jay sits in a lower gear for too long?
Jay didn't want to flip it!! hahaha
@@mgoldenboyz7942 he does that in pretty much every video and he explained it has something to do with the camera crew
I actually met one of the gents who worked for RTech in Spokane a while back. I think I still have his card in my wallet. They sometimes actually buy wrecked or rollover trucks and pull the body off and use the powertrain. Really cool process.
Nice
Does that surprise you that they buy scrap? Costs less. I like how this sales guy acts like he has some state of the art rebuild process for the Cummins.
M One can’t blame him. The reason i met him because I was buying a rollover 2008 duramax with good powertrain from the same wholesaler as him. And we started talking. I can see why they do more Cummins swaps than duramax. Duramax is an engine that requires more electrical to run.
@@mr.lowslow7702 there is nothing wrong with him using the tried and true 12v platform for any heavy duty truck build. My problem with this guy is he seems to be taking all the credit for a 12v making 550hp and for the nv4500 transmission choice like it was his own pairing. Jay clearly wasn't impressed with the man's business. Especially with him telling Jay Leno of all people when to shift.
M One I was gonna mention that “you know you have another gear right?” I laughed there
Those trucks are true hybrid vehicles. 50% really cool and 50% badass. That’s much better than a Prius hybrid.

Doug Cronk yeah I'd hope he can seeing as he owns one. Pretty embarrassing to think a turbo is a supercharger
He did say it was his personal & Jay is the only one that’s ever driven it except him.
Lol Jay thought it was like 500 or 600 miles from Fort Worth to Vegas. I just did the math, try well over 1000! 1,196.2 miles. I guess people really forget how damn big Texas is? It took me like 7 hours to go from Forth Worth all the way down to Corpus Christi to help my brother move back up to the DFW Metroplex. That was just over 400 miles.
Crazy isn't it?
You could drive 100 mph from one side of the DFW Metroplex to the other and STILL be in the DFW Metroplex 2 hours later.
Texas is a strange place.
Everything's bigger in Texas. 👍
BFKAnthony817 well it’s only like two inches on the map....
😂😂😂😂
Yeah those 12v Cummins get the best mileage out of anything pickup diesel.
No, what people forget is that the rich are in no way in touch with reality because a 1200 mile road trip is not in their capacity of thought.
Amazing stuff. Really exciting to see the look back at the classic body design in these trucks
18:27 I think he was a little irritated that Jay was riding in 4th gear lol
Geoff Gyro it’s not like jay is even slightly hurting the engine. The difference in rpm to 5th would barely be noticeable at that speed. He should be able to floor it to 3k at least without thinking twice. It’s a work engine.
I ride in 4th most of the time in my F-1shifty, unless im going over 55
Yeah, the actual clearance height is the axle shaft. So, being that tall makes no sense.
I see that all the time.
@@theforgottenorg yeah, I'm always like what's the point? It can't do extreme off roading. I have seen a truck on UA-cam with similar proportions not be able to clear over a 3ft chunk of ice in a parking lot because of the axle and the diff got stuck on it. But the truck was lifted 5ft off the ground. Mind you that at least 2 of the 4 wheels were touching the pavement.
@@DonaldSeymourjr Jay could have done a video on rock crawlers, a real hobby for years now if he wanted extreme 4x4.
But the rest of the truck makes sense? This is about showing off how rich you are. Nothing more!
Dave No, that's what yachts and private jets are for. This is for the love of big metal things with big motors.
Well, definitely a luxury item here but, I will say this...When it comes to value and being better built, you can't beat a well built pickup truck. They are extremely rugged and durable, can be very reliable, and easier to work on. Yes, you compromise fuel economy but if you use it for its intended purpose its not horrible. I have owned so many vehicles over the years since 1980. I have always had the best experiences from the pickup trucks. For me, when it came to total cost of ownership, utility, and reliability the pickup trucks came out on top. As Americans I think we are biased toward the pickup truck thus by default maybe its easier to own one. I never bought the fully loaded versions new. I did my own after market mods. Now, I want something along the lines of a restomod. New technology mixed in with the classic styling. I remember the show with the SMC, Super Muscle Cars with Barry White. You also have Chip Foose and others. This guy, Rtech Fabrications, does the same concept for trucks. In the end, I would take the truck over the cars. I like anything mechanically perfect but when it comes to vehicles, I like my trucks. Not sure about the Tesla Cyber truck, its too weird for me.
I thought Jay asked him all the rite questions and the man had all the rite answers he knows his builds nice truck THANKS JAY
Allison’s are good aren’t they? Yeah they are good, but big... yeah, that’s what I have in my tank. Hahaha only Jay

Nice Trucks
He's wrong about semi truck. They have been moving to disk over drum for about 5 years. Only lower spec trucks are coming with drums now.
Drums still have more stopping power, only downside is brake fade over distance
@@Cody6210 In semi trucks they only come out of adjustment if something fails where drums back off over time no matter what. Stopping power is also better than drums.
Checked the K-W site following someone else's comment (which I now can't find) where he said he'd driven one of last year's models with drum brakes. Seems they have F&R discs as standard on almost all of their trucks, with drums being optional - might be down to attitudes and/or costs.
@@Cody6210 Depends on how you define "power" - there is a self-servo affect on the leading shoe(s) whereas a disc is reliant on the squeeze. For extreme use, a drum 'may' be able to apply greater peak brake torque, but that is debatable and, regardless, drum brakes simply cannot dissipate the heat as readily as a disc brake, so are much more likely to 'burn out' or fade, as you said.
There is also another design dfference that is important - with a drum brake, as it heats and expands, it increases the brake travel of the wheel cylinders to apply them and, with some vehicles, this can result in a VERY low pedal. With disc brakes as the disc heats and expands it is actually moving towards the caliper pistons, slightly reducing travel.
drums are self energizing
The C-60 is way cool. If I could order one for myself I'd go a little easier with the lift kit.
Fabrication doesn’t come cheap. Nice to see builders expanding our view of what is possible.
Don’t like the fuel filler under the hood. More of a chance to spill fuel on the engine. I know diesel has a low flash point but, I wouldn’t want to take a chance. Good build though.

This is a bit out jay’s interests. I’m glad he test drives and reviews all areas of car and truck communities
The Dually is so nice except for the lift. The lift makes it look stupid regular ride height would be best. IMO and I drive a lifted Jeep.
The majority of us love it this way, and we don’t drive a lifted vehicle!
Shawn Rufus agreed, lift even style-wise does not match the truck, especially the front. Looks like chevy body mated to a chassis of another mother.
Know they say about opinion's don't ya ?
I am building a 1968 GMC dually. 33's and a 4 in lift maybe 6 is what I want
Shawn Rufus the tires size wouldnt allow it to be regular height they had to lift it. Look at the tires size porportions compared to the wheel well. Two inch drop and they would automatically rub
That 66 dually is awesome!! The two things I'd do differently would be an independent suspension in front and modern power seats. I do love straight axles, but the leave springs ride like crap, and after a few miles the ride beats you half to death.
For $200K+ you'd think the body chrome would line up on the yellow one. :(

These trucks are INCREDIBLE! Wish I could afford one like the ‘72. However, I have to take issue with the comment about Duramax engines being Japanese. While they were designed in a collaboration between Isuzu and GM, they are made in Moraine, OH (Dayton suburb). Of course the Cummins is 100% American design and manufacture and arguably the better power plant. However, to call the Duramax a Japanese product is false.
Idk I've seen the duramax in isuzu box trucks years before Chevy had them

As I watch these car channels I realise they made a lot of each kind of rig and there still is a lot of them left. Guy named Rick who has a channel called classic truck rescue in Molalla ore., was having a crew cab built on one ton ford... quite new running gear and a 56 GMC "crew cab" being built by a good welder but I think his finances were running tight cause he stopped on the build. I know he is putting up his own shop and that might of stopped him. Love those two resto-mods. That thing sounds as sweet as it looks. If I had the money, I'd be sore tempted to get a '70 Ford F-250 version of this. I don't think I'd go with a dually , but I'd go with probably everything else.
Something looks off to me about the dually. It has a step side fender stuck on to the outside of a fleetsid body. It just looks odd.
I think it looks off because the wheel-well opening is a lot smaller and a different shape than the front.
@@fitnesswithsteve It looks off to me because that step side fender was never meant to be on the side of a fleetside bed.
it looks trash plain and simple
Look at modern duallys lmao
Too damn tall
Jay's ears perked up when a 427 cu in was mentioned as an option.
My father had a stock 1976 Silverado with a 454 cu in 4 bbl. It had 2 gas tanks. We needed it because we pulled a large trailer.
I used to sneak drive it while my dad was at work. It screamed without pulling a trailer.
...fill the ashtray completely full of cigarette butts for true '60s/'70s authenticity...
Cooler of beer in the bed
@@thomassmith5548 Ummm, you mean cooler of beer on the seat beside you.
😂🤣😂🤣😂
@@guardrail2897 yep and one for the road in your hand
Seems like a different world nowadays. We would have three people in the cab, and us kids would ride in the back. No problems, no cares. World sure turned 200% more complicated in the past 40 years.
Did anyone else see the fact that on this 150k truck the steering stabilizer shock was off at 19:21..
0750MRam nice catch
Nate M what is the steering stabilizer?
Fuzz Mantra the shock that’s sideways on the front axle . Blue and silver thing
Yeah that is so weird, when they pulled out of the shop you can clearly see it moving with the steering. Did it fall off while they were driving?
You know the thing
It’s Christmas Eve. 12:15 am and I’m sitting outside in the driveway (in the country) in my truck watching these videos as not to wake my roommate. Merry Christmas vehicle lovers. If I had my kids or could see them I’d probably be in bed but I can sleep in tomorrow at least, looking at the positive side of what is otherwise not a fun Christmas.
i think need slight bigger tires and flared fenders in front so it dont look so narrow
Nah tall and thin is classic style. Frankly if it had super thick tires I wouldn't even watch
it does look kinda strange
I just mean slightly thicker tires in front and little bit of flared fenders in front...but that's just me
Dont have money for that and I'm not into jacked up...ego stuff lol
