Oh man, my heart broke seeing the seating position in the DB-5! I know that I probably won't ever drive one, but it still makes me sad to know that I almost couldn't even if I had the chance. (Key word, almost. I'd make it work! Lol)
I love the format. Don’t worry about the ignorance of haters!!! God Bless you sir! My father and I spent our weekend mornings watching you since the 90s!!!
My Dad had a '40 Chevy. Loved it. Sold it, then found it years later. He wanted to try and buy it back. They had already started to put a camaro subframe in it. He was not happy.
Hi Stacey, Mike here. Met you a couple years ago at the fall show in Rochester Indiana and again on Power tour last year. We stood next to my 34 Ford coupe and talked about your 40 Chevy. Glad to finally see what you are working with. Keep the rubber side down and maybe we’ll see yo next year on Power Tour. Good luck with the project.
Drill the intake at the front for an oil fill tube. Old school intake style. Check out some vintage car craft and street rod magazines for some ideas of what was done. Remember people drove them alot more than they trailered them Form and function is what we built back them 👍
Reminds me of the pipe fitter from the neighborhood. He has the 40 but a sedan original mohair interior with a 454, 12 bolt rear turbo 400 and some sort of disc brake setup. It was a good running rig. R.I.P. Botto you were a good friend. I wish I knew where that car got off too
Slammed on air ride. Big wheels and brakes. Turbo fuel injected v8 with a 6 speed. If you could figure out how to get a dct to work in it that would be insane.
I used to drive this exact coupe to high school, Mr. David in case you didn't know there was 2 different coupes back then, the one you have here is called a business coupe. The difference between the business coupe and the standard coupe is the location of the gas filler inlet.
The DB5 and the Jaguar XKE were my favorite 60's cars! I found their body styling to be beautiful and sleek. Folks always complained about the XKE Tri-power being hard to tune! But it had 265 horses under the hood which is huge for such a light car.
@@bmstylee O still Like both they have beautiful body lines. but yeah I'd take the E type over the DB5 as well, but come on, who wouldn't love having a Bond car LOL! I was born in 1960 so I am very partial to both cars.
I like the look of the hotrod motor, it is going to fit the ticket on that build. You do get to drive some cool cars, at least in 1965 the average height for a male was a little shorter may have helped.
All this stuff is super nice and good but how many guys can drop 60 gran in a car? it would be nice if one time you tv guys would build a car and do it with the weekend guy that brings home 35 40 gran a year. love the show but i'm from a small mill town and good money here is less then 40 gran but we have some great hot rods that we build on time and weekends.
Nice! Does this mean all the other builds are complete? I’ve always loved your show and builds but my cable company stopped carrying the channels that ran them, I’m glad to be able to see them in UA-cam.
Are they complete? You must be new here. Nothing ever gets finished. Heavy metal (the tow truck) is well over a decade old and we've never seen it finished.
I would love to build a high end Hot Rod for myself but the T5 tranny's and the already built small blocks aren't cheap for a lot of us, I'm building/ working on a 78 F 1504×4 and it isn't at all cheap anymore, I do like your videos and I've been a fan of yours for several years now
I’ve probably watched HotRod probably close to 150 possibly 200 times back 9th/10th grade Stacey, if you’re going to acquire Hemi engine from swiping your local sheriff vehicle just make sure it isn’t a Munson Rootbeer controlled sheriff’s vehicle!! Bwhahaha😎 Well, I guess I should’ve watched the first 5 minutes at least then I might have realized I was the only one thinking you were building tribute car that was the star of the movie “HotRod” Perhaps, my impatience will trigger someone’s memory potentially, even Your memory of a not to cheesy sweet classic!! Honestly, In the last two decades plus or minus a few years it doesn’t really matter “What” or the “Direction” You’ve decided for the project they all turn out absolutely beautiful without all the Mother Truckers and thrown tools/components that can be heard from my shop on occasion! 😂
It's so great to have these videos. Feels like when I was a kid watching you build Copperhead. That truck and Stunt Double were the coolest trucks to me. Still are. They're the inspiration for my builds: A gold/burgundy two-tone 1990 Chevy c1500 Silverado swb with a 5.7l 350, and a black/silver 1990 K1500 Scottsdale 305 4x4 5 speed. I want to convert the 2wd Silverado to manual transmission. I have a complete donor manual k1500. I can use the steering column, clutch reservoir, and foot pedals, but not the k1500 transmission, since the 4x4 transmission is different. There are two options: an NV3500, or NV4500. Should I use the NV3500 behind a stock 5.7 350? Thank you Stacey.
I'm diggin this project and I hope to see more of it right here on utube, been a long time subscriber but now you have my full attention, nice Ole skool iron in the house, I love it, and I'm still wondering what happened to the international truck project, saw you and Mel build the chassis and set the rusty cab back on and then it just went away until the picture of you standing in front of it, were anymore videos made on that, project hairy hauler ????
Stacy, I just recently bought a 1977 Ford LTD Landau 4 door. Do you think you can maybe make a video ideas to make even a four-door look cool on a budget?
The problem with show there are 2 previous projects started and I never saw them finished, the 78 camero , and the international cab over have not seen those finished and next week it will be something else.
The trip hollers are cool but couldn't you try webber 32/36 progressive carbs? On paper they are comparable in cfm but maybe better in low to mid throttle performance
I disagree about a Hot Rod having a "Big Engine" or "Massive Power". When Guys like my grandfather came back from WWII and started building "Hot Rods" it was all about function, building the baddest car you could build with what you had sitting around the farm/garage and as cheap as possible, Engine size and paint didn't matter, it was all about shaving weight. unless it has the original engine or atleast an engine that was made from the late 40's early 50's, a brushed on paint job and homemade/tractor seats it's NOT a REAL hot rod. These things now a days that have a big ole V8 sticking out the hood, redone interior, custom chrome wheels and 10k paint job AREN'T a "Hot Rod", they are Restomods. IF you wanna build a "Hot Rod go get you a Flathead Ford, Buick "Fireball" Strait 8 or a First Gen Hemi, Yank the seats out and Build you a a jump seat style seat made out of round tubing and Nylon web straps, and go to wal-mart and buy a couple gallons of barn red or flat black house paint and brush it on, THAT'S A HOT ROD, if your doing anything other than that then your building a Restomod, and it should be called as such.
I keep hoping one day you will drop this awful over-production stuff and just shoot videos. Tony Angelo started a channel not too long ago if you want to see a way easier and better way to do this. Most of your fans want to see you wrench and hear you just talk.
That's what pays the bills. Just like car magazines. That's why I didn't buy HOT Rod Magazine any more. Read it for over 50+ years.Times have Changed 😢
I’m a big fan of Tony and Vice Grip, they have their place leave Stacey alone, his production brings me back to the 80’s 90’s era TNN The Nashville Network that ran shows just like this when I was growing up in the body shop.
Love the videos Stacey but Two Lane Black top 55 was a craz in the 70's.....old gear head here myself! That and American Graffiti fired my hot rod soul on fire!
OH GREAT......another project car we will NEVER see finished that, THEN sits in the background for five years and is never actually completed!! AND when it is finally complete, we are treated to a 2 minute video on what the car "looks like now" without ever seeing everything that it took to build it!!!
All fine and dandy if you got fifty Grand Stacy you get all your s*** for free we know how it works you don't have a whole lot of money you're not going to go out and buy off the true hotrods build-out of hot rod stuff you find at swap meet
Thanks for another great 📸
Thanks for watching!
I really that 1940 Chevy because my grandfather used to have one back in the 1970's.
Thanks! After 25 years in the business, haters don't bother me! LOL
My Dad had a '40 Chevy. Loved it. Sold it, then found it years later. He wanted to try and buy it back. They had already started to put a camaro subframe in it. He was not happy.

Form and function is what we built back them 👍
Never get tired of watching Stacey David...great show ...thanks
Thank you!
Thanks Stacey!
Any time!
Just got my 38 pontiac business coupe done. It's a blast to drive. Easy burnouts

Love ALL the cars you do Stacy! Keep it going! The 40 Chevy is great and the Henry J is something vintage and cool.
Thank you! Will do!
The '40's cool . Stacy David has been doing this stuff for a long time , always good stuff .
Been watching for decades ,thanks
Thanks for continuing my education! I have learned so much from your channel over the years! A big THANK YOU!
That's why I do what I do! Thanks for watching.
That 40 Chevy would make a dope lowrider
Slammed on air ride. Big wheels and brakes. Turbo fuel injected v8 with a 6 speed. If you could figure out how to get a dct to work in it that would be insane.
Hey Stacey I'm working on a 1948 frazer gasser blown chevy 454.
Great videos keep them coming
Thanks! Will do!

That's awesome. You building my kind of car. I love hot rods.

Jaguar hit the ball out of the park with the E type. Enzo Ferrari said as much. The DB5 can't hold a candle to the Jaguar.
@@bmstylee O still Like both they have beautiful body lines. but yeah I'd take the E type over the DB5 as well, but come on, who wouldn't love having a Bond car LOL! I was born in 1960 so I am very partial to both cars.

Another Great show thanks Stacey
Glad you enjoyed it!

Almost everything on this project can be replicated with swap meet and secondhand parts.
Awesome drive train setup. But, I am gettin lazy in my Old age. I will stick with a 400 turbo, and a gear vendor overdrive.
This is a great concept...but would take me 10+ years to.afford...not to mention a good shop.
It's going to be a cool coupe

The NV4500 is a lot stronger, but also more expensive. If you're not going to be driving the truck hard, a NV3500 should last a long time.
Thanks so much!@@OfficialStaceyDavid

There's more coming on the '40 Chevy in Episode 12! I sold Hairy Hauler when I left Trucks!, but would love to find it and possibly buy it back.
Stacy, I just recently bought a 1977 Ford LTD Landau 4 door. Do you think you can maybe make a video ideas to make even a four-door look cool on a budget?
Wheels, tires, and suspension mods are great ways to make any car look better.
The problem with show there are 2 previous projects started and I never saw them finished, the 78 camero , and the international cab over have not seen those finished and next week it will be something else.
Part of his set looks like Puddin's Fab Shop garage!
I just couldn't have turned down that Henry J! I think it would be much more difficult build though.
The DB5 sure looks terrific, but I can get a C2 Big Block and have a boatload of change leftover from $600k the DB5 commands.
1940 Chevy coupe the tripower Chevy engine is too and the manual 5-speed
The trip hollers are cool but couldn't you try webber 32/36 progressive carbs? On paper they are comparable in cfm but maybe better in low to mid throttle performance
You probably could. These Holleys are designed to replicate the factory big block Chevy Tri-Power.
@OfficialStaceyDavid yea I was just curious because the dgv webber was a direct swap for the old holley/rochester 2b carbs
How do you put oil in that motor with them fancy breathers?
The tops come off.
Man this show is more about commercials and selling parts and building cars
👍
Lot of yadda yadda in the video
Think of a D B 5 with a v -12 in it.
Here's a radical idea......finish a project for once instead of adding another one that will never be finished.
lol that table is $5500. No f’n way
Than building cats
