tip: you can kill it faster by putting lava into the ground so that when the eater of worlds goes underground, they will take damage from the lava and have the on fire debuff
I beat it today with a shotgun and 45 defence from all the shadow scales i got from previous battles and then made all my equipment wording and got a godly shotgun
Broooooo I’ve died several times with him with ancient shadow armor, 380 HP, blade of grass, ironskin potion, titan potion with a burger that improves those buffs and grenades with a female character that has a name of my favorite anime waifu on expert difficulty…
You didn't have to mention the part about the waifu but some advice would be to make a campfire and to find the last heart crystal. Make sure if your using grenades that your not on expert or master mode because the eater of worlds take 75% less damage to them on those difficulties.
I'm assuming that this is for players who want to start from scratch for expert/master mode since if you use your main character, it'd be too easy by just having daedalus + holy arrow / jester arrow. EoW is just plain beatable in any mode with your main character as long as you have piercing. For those who only use 1 character and try out expert / master mode, you can kill EoW immediately with the strat you use for Destroyer in HM. Meaning you can already handle master mode without experiencing Post-Plantera in your main world.
It might be outdated information, in 1.3 you able get reaver shark faster than crimtane/demonite pickaxe for hellstone. However it got nerfed for 1.4 and it's impossible to get hellstone before killing EoW or BoC (both drops another vital material for pickaxes other than ores)

You can get molten fury by attempting boss even if you don’t win any segments you kill drop scales for pickaxe
