- William Kendall, one of the great English Cathedral tenors, sings the solo in this ravishing performance of 'In the bleak mid-winter' with Winchester Cathedral Choir and the Bournemouth Sinfonietta directed by David Hill. Broadcast on 10th December 1994 by Meridian TV. William passed away on Boxing Day.
Ravishing performance indeed. What a choir, what a voice - RIP William Kendall.
One of the most sublime recordings I've ever heard-- in its ensembles' performance, both instrumental and choral, its arrangement, its direction, its composition, and in its simple and simply beautiful and heavenly praise of Our Lord Jesus Christ 👑✝️🕊️🎶♥️ Thank you for posting it.
Wonderful; basically, perfect.
Just beautiful..
Surely the sound of Heaven ☁️ How blessed we are to hear it even here on earth. Thank you for sharing it with us here. Drifting off to sleep with it on this New Years Day 2025. May God bless us all with the great gift of a lively, sweet faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ, praised so beautifully here. Thank You, Dear Lord, for coming to us here on earth and for bringing us to You in Heaven👑✝️🕊️♥️🎶☁️
Kudos to the recording engineer as well-- perfectly balanced, stunning clarity. Thank you
Absolutely top class singing
RIP William...such a wonderful voice. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends and colleagues from Winchester at this very sad time Sing Choirs of Angels 🙏🕯
@@andye9006 yes, from the Requiem Mass-- "... May choirs of angels take you to your rest." ☁️🎶🕊️✝️
William's solo has to be the best rendition I've ever heard of this wonderful piece. Rest in peace William!
Happy memories of William at King’s Canterbury RIP
I had the chance to be on tour with him, and to pass a very agreable train ride with him. Lovely, charming and witty man.
Stunning recording!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful recording.
Rest in peace 🕊️
Now he sings with the saints on high. Fare thee well, Kendal
Thanks for highlighting this Edward, fab vid. WK was after my time but to be compared with Donald Sweeney (bass, of course) is something.
❤
What year did he leave Winchester? RIP
These choral sounds and high standards of singing in choirs and congregations are disappearing forever.
