I see you're rendering the clouds by themselves, and even though it's at the foreground it is also being covered by some buildings. How did you render the clouds seperately? Again, I know you can restrict visibility in the outliner and check transparent in Film so it doesn't render the sky, but I'm trying to render elements to be blocked by whatever is in the foreground so I can composite easier.

Watching a video on Blender for the first time and I must say I'm pretty impressed with what it can do. How does Blender compare to After Effects, and how demanding are the system requirements?
Blender, while it contains 2D compositing, NLE, and motion tracking tools akin to After Effects, is not very comparable to AE on a larger scale. AE is incapable of 3D modeling, sculpting, or animating 3D models without pricy third party addons. You can’t go into AE and design a complex, photoreal 3D scene. You can only composite and track 2D footage and shape layers, and work with basic 3D elements such as extruded text and angled planes. With Blender, you can do all that, and more. For a great and up-to-date demo of Blender’s abilities, check out the CGI short film “Spring” here on UA-cam, which was created entirely within Blender.
While watching, I thought there might be a workaround for this.... Once you have your roofs separated, you could duplicate the terrain geometry, then attach to your roof's. Then you project your UVs from the top view to this combined geometry, then tab into edit mode and delete the terrain out of the object (so you're only left with the roofs). I think the roofs texture should now line up perfectly with the terrain. I think. (I've not tried this yet)
im trying to do this right now. Your tutorials are my favorite blenders ones on all of youtube. I have followed many of them , slowly, methodically. much love - from canada

@@soeren.h sorry guys, I ended up moving on and never found a solution 😭
@@mitchbales6462 Damn, that sucks, especially since this is such a great tutorial. But thanks for your reply :)

Got a question for you! When i try to import the image overlay to blender with the mapbox satellite it always comes out black after saying unable to import? What am i doing wrong? please help its diving me crazy!
i am having the same problem PLEASE CG GEEK TO THE RESCUE
Go to preference blender-osm click on Get it icon. it will take you into mapbox web site. look for a copy icon located across from your token then click it. return blender preference Mapbox access hold ctrl-V Happy Days
Please get in touch with the addon developer via prokitektura@gmail.com. Actually you did it already.
This may be late but I changed to cycles render and it popped up.
Did you ever figure out a solution? When I copy the mapbox token and click import, the same thing is happening.
My Blender version is 2.83. Everything goes ok on your video but on minute 10:14 when you say "ok so now it's time for the building... gonna go U and choose cube projection as you can see they're all unwrapped now and ... But my UV editor is not showing the image that your video shows, I just have the grid without the shape of the city. Is because I'm skipping a preview step because of my 2.83 version? Please help me, I cannot go further this point. Thanks
Hi, I am having a same issue. Did you by any chance figure out the solution?
I can't wait to try t his out when creating an entire town for a major film production 🥰
This is such a great tuto ! Thank you so much for sharing so much technics ! 🙏
When I align the top projection with the overlay, I lose accuracy on one area as I drag the UV map over another area. Did you approximate yours?
I have the same issue, did you find a way to fix it?
me too bro ,mines worse i cant bring it to the uv map , its fcked up . someone help after selecting ( selection from bounds part)
This guy is just a legend.

Kelley Evans i don’t think you can
the illusion will be broken if you go close, you'd have to make real buildings for that
I can't apply textures to the buildings, can someone help?
What is the " Exact "problem then ????
Does it give you a error does it have visual glitch etc etc
Your question is too inaccurate
@@manimehrdoost3085 Hello mate I need some help. I wanna know if I can do this kind of huge thing in my laptop or not. My laptop has an integrated radeon vega 8 card with AMD R5 3500U. Just asking coz I don't have any idea so just asking in advance so that I don't end my losing my laptop lol
I had trouble applying the textures to the roof top, turns out I just needed to delete this "size" thing in the UV maps
