Flat with a little scope (cavalry style) is the way to go. Function over form. Too many people wearing their hats with goofy-looking, sharp-angle rodeo bends when they don't even swing a lasso by their heads. I'm so ready for that trend to die out.
My experience, or bad luck, has been that a brim cannot be flattened. I've tried everything. Steam, water, cussing, irons etc. Hats have shellac applied and even paint remover won't let a hat stay flat. What am I doing wrong??
Man what’s the odds… I was watching a video from 4 years ago.. and was thinking why not using iron. Then you posted your comment😳 What a f*cken coincidence
I soak it in the shower for about 5 minutes with cold water, form to desired shape and fit to head, then let it sit in the sun or wear until dry. Works like a charm.
ive found that for wool/felt hats using a steam iron will flatten the brim very well.
Yes - that works great too! If you have one around!
@@truewesthats4169 will a steam iron work?
@nonzerosum8943 Yes. I use just a regular iron you use on your jeans or shirts.

So I've been doing it right. God bless you.❤
How would I take a flat brim cowboy hat and curve it down all the way around?
How would you recommend relaxing the curled brim of a leather Aussie hat?

Is the hat felt?
@@batglide5484 Yes, I think so. The label says "fur felt"
@@tdrnkr that's odd, I did one of mine and it worked very well.
tdrnkr
did you actually use paint remover ? My guess is toss the lid into the garage

Why not use an iron?

Yo man, i got a question, is this working on non leather cowboy hat? :> already subbed:)
This is a European Hare (rabbit) fur hat.
@@truewesthats4169 ohh, thanks
Can i directly iron my wool cowboy hat?
Definitely not
Thin washcloth, steam.
How about a straw hat?
Yes , how about straws
what hat was that!
That is our Granite, European Hare Cowboy Hat
What type of steamer is that ?
It is an industrial steamer.
I have a leather/suede Stetson. Can I do the same thing?
you can use a the steam from an iron no need to water spray it. Put a thin towel on the brim and iron it softly. Leave the hat to dry on the sun.
@@therodesigner Thanks for the info.
