    Flat with a little scope (cavalry style) is the way to go. Function over form. Too many people wearing their hats with goofy-looking, sharp-angle rodeo bends when they don't even swing a lasso by their heads. I'm so ready for that trend to die out.

      I soak it in the shower for about 5 minutes with cold water, form to desired shape and fit to head, then let it sit in the sun or wear until dry. Works like a charm.

    My experience, or bad luck, has been that a brim cannot be flattened. I've tried everything. Steam, water, cussing, irons etc. Hats have shellac applied and even paint remover won't let a hat stay flat. What am I doing wrong??

      you can use a the steam from an iron no need to water spray it. Put a thin towel on the brim and iron it softly. Leave the hat to dry on the sun.

    ive found that for wool/felt hats using a steam iron will flatten the brim very well.
