I suppose this version just shows you how Earthling was only toying with the jungle/drum'n'bass stylistics, but in fact containted rather conventional compositions. I'm very happy to have come across this version in any case.
@@marksimmons7906His guitar solos on A Night Like This on their last tour are exquisite. Every solo is very different on the night. At times Robert Smith lights up after a solo, with a look of sheer thrill that he has him in his band. Thats my fave song of theirs live, with Reeves.
Unbelievable how good that wildly textured song sounded when he stripped it completely down like that. His music always had such great composition, he could play the songs a dozen different ways and they would still be great.
This will always be my favorite version of this song. I remember it live when I was a kid. Thank you David for your time here with us...and thank you Reeves for sharing this moment with him.
@@ZeusKingOfAllGodsYes, his voice here is the pure essence. As if he felt at the moment, that this was the last time he would sing this song... Like a dead man walking..
Breathtaking. With guitar maestro Reeves Gabrels at his side, he went to another realm. His look, his voice, is truly something to behold, i miss you so much, dear Starman.
it is just DIFFERENT, it is the pure & naked version of a song that got an arrangement to fit the time... But you are right, I prefer this version too :-)
Tears are literally streaming down my face. You were and are a treasure too good for this plane of existence but you graced us with your presence, your many talents, your humor, and your unfathomable kindness anyway. Thank you our Starman, our Duke, our Goblin King. May your love be forever placed amongst the stars.
It's 2021 and I still miss you so much. I used to watch this video to comfort me in the months after your passing. Thank you for giving my life a soundtrack. Your influence was with me through my entire life, and it continues to this day. RIP David.
This is one of his best compositions, and it's not even that well known. Whether unplugged or teeming with layers of electronic rhythms, it leaves an impression on me every time.
David Bowie and his bands were one of the few popular groups that could reinterpret the same song multiple ways and still keep the spirit of the song without ruining it.
I was sleeping with the television on, a bad habit. Something woke me up a minute before this played. I guess it was fate nudging me. As I came out of the stupor of sleep this hit me.
A friend gave the Live Conan performances CD back in the 90's as a Christmas gift. I wasn't into Bowie much aside from Space Oddity. You can bet I'm still a fan now.
Beautiful song, lyrics, instrumentation....and man. He really sang this well. And he will always be missed. Perfect choice. Conan and David had a great chemistry. Loved watching when he was on. RIP David Bowie.
The acoustic version of Dead Man Walking sounds a lot like a song from David Bowie's earlier psychedelic era (roughly 1968-1971) I could easily imagine this version of the song being on albums like The 'Mercury' Demos, Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold The World or Hunky Dory.
Geez! Shivers down my spine and a lump in my throat! So beautiful! Bowie just never fails, does he? Such a loss! R.i p. David. Much loved and missed ...
He swivels his head Tears his eyes from the screen As his past puts him back in Atlantic City There's not even a demon in Heaven or Hell Is it all just human disguise? As I walk down the aisle And I'm gone gone gone Now I'm older than movies And I know who's there When silhouettes fall And I'm gone Like I'm dancing on angels And I'm gone through a crack in the past Like a dead man walking Like a dead man walking Three old men dancing under the lamplight Shaking their sex and their bones And the boys that we were An alien nation in therapy Sliding naked and new Like a bad tempered child On a rain slicked street And I'm gone gone gone Now I'm older than movies And I know who's there When silhouettes fall And I'm gone Like I'm dancing on angels And I'm gone through a crack in the past Like a dead man walking Like a dead man walking Like a dead man Like a dead man walking
Hauntingly majestic. To me, his voice and performance are as if it was the last time he would ever sing this song... just like a dead man walking. He and guitar maestro Reeves were incredible together.
Isn't it amazing that with no effect processors, loops, digital delay, reverb or anything but a microphone and an accoustic guitar he sounds fantastic. Maybe even better live?
I love this version so much that my band is going to cover it. Likely Acoustic Guitars, Bass, Drums and some minimal Keyboards. I love the LP version, but this is amazing and supposedly he got the opening riff/phrase from Jimi Page back when they we relatively unknown up and going musicians. Man the London scene in the 60's was something else!
1 year and 7.5 months later and I watch this for the millionth time and I just...ugh. Why. Of all the people to still be alive, destroying and tearing our world apart with their bullshit...why him? Why couldn't he have just aged out of life and not be yanked away? My only consolation about his passing is knowing that he had the love of his life, Iman, and a family that was with him and loved him immensely and he loved them as much. He wasn't alone and if you're going to go out the way he did, it seems like that was the right way to go. But...it still doesn't take out the WTF WHY?!?!? factor.
Dvdsky I totally hear ya. It’s so hard. But we all have our time to go, and January 10, 2016 was his time. He had finished the work he was meant to do and had gained the experiences and wisdom he needed to experience in that life as David Bowie. As much as it pains us, we all check out at some point. As I believe in an afterlife, or that our essence/soul/energy lives on beyond death, it’s comforting to know that we may have the chance to see those we care about in the next realm.
As far as I'm concerned, this is the definitive version of this song.
David Bowie and Reeves Gabrels, the only men able to make an acoustic MASTERPIECE with a jungle-techno-house song !
I suppose this version just shows you how Earthling was only toying with the jungle/drum'n'bass stylistics, but in fact containted rather conventional compositions. I'm very happy to have come across this version in any case.
I'm so glad that Reeves ended up with The Cure. If you can't play with Bowie anymore, that's a pretty darn good alternative.

The most on point comment on this section. Five years invictus.
100% agreed. I was blown away with the rearrangement of The Man Who Sold the World too.
One of those songs - you hear it for the first time and boom - NEVER forget that performance!
The way Reeves bends the very last note is beautiful and fitting, a VERY small detail that makes this version for me!
He sonic firepower added some blinding final notes in the 96-97 shows. A maestro.
This will always be my favorite version of this song. I remember it live when I was a kid. Thank you David for your time here with us...and thank you Reeves for sharing this moment with him.
Are you me? This version gives me chills. I also saw it when it aired. His voice is amazing here.

I´m a great fan of Bowie for over 30 years now and discovered that version of the song only just 2 weeks ago...and I´m really addicted to it...
Phenomenal version
David.... FOREVER David
Every time I hear this beautiful mans voice I feel....privileged

i'm hardcore crying still. Bowie was fucking brilliant . He sure left us an eternity full of brillaint music. oxoxox

What a GORGEOUS song. That's all I will say. RIP David.

I love this version!
This is so sweet to hear an angels voice again. Miss u david ❤🙏💗 Watch his duet with bing crosby and it will fill your heart with love ❤💗
Here's on display an example of the kind of magic genuine artists are capable of. Not many of them around in the music industry these days.
Gives me goosebumps every time...💔

I think this has to be my favorite David Bowie song/performance ever. RIP sweet David. ✌🏻💕
Happy birthday David
I love this acustic version
Oh hell yea
Jamais vai existir artista mais foda que David Bowie!
This never gets old. RIP David. We miss you so much.
He swivels his head
Tears his eyes from the screen
As his past puts him back in Atlantic City
There's not even a demon in Heaven or Hell
Is it all just human disguise?
As I walk down the aisle
And I'm gone gone gone
Now I'm older than movies
And I know who's there
When silhouettes fall
And I'm gone
Like I'm dancing on angels
And I'm gone through a crack in the past
Like a dead man walking
Like a dead man walking
Three old men dancing under the lamplight
Shaking their sex and their bones
And the boys that we were
An alien nation in therapy
Sliding naked and new
Like a bad tempered child
On a rain slicked street
And I'm gone gone gone
Now I'm older than movies
And I know who's there
When silhouettes fall
And I'm gone
Like I'm dancing on angels
And I'm gone through a crack in the past
Like a dead man walking
Like a dead man walking
Like a dead man
Like a dead man walking
Brilliance!! Honestly open he was.
Like a film noir movie.

This is and was awesome. Jus' sayin'.

It really doesn't get much better than this.
R.I.P. David Bowie.
Как же он красив!
Oh yeah ! Miss you david ❤ An acoustic masterpiece. Save this please .
I still have a copy of this on vhs. I recorded david on all these shows when I was a kid. if only in had a vhs player 😐
Bowie's tribute to the 🐐, Neil Young & Crazy Horse

His live performances still return to me over and over.

I don't get it. How can he rock frosted tips and still look amazing?
where oh where did my Bowie go
All hale the Sovereign!!!
Found it clearly that footstamping deadman is the man who sold the world, As known as Major Tom. Acoustic play doesn't hide the tune his shades.
The funniest interview he ever game. Talking about Jimmy Page writing the riff
Ten distracted minds accidentally pushed the downvote button. They'll feel like idiots when they realize...

Coolest of the cool.

Way better
