This was in LA in 1991. I snuck out of my dorm room at UCLA and bought a scalped ticket for a nosebleed seat. During the opening act, i gradually made my way closer to the stage. I saw this with my own eyes from 100 feet away. 😊

We were up in the nosebleed section and could barely see the dark figure stepping out of the shadows, but the voice made us realize it was without a doubt David Bowie. The freak out in the audience was much bigger live than what it seems like in this video. I can't believe it was 30 years ago this month! I still have the ticket stub.
I was there too. Upper level, extreme stage right. But I recognized Bowie's voice right away, then -- yes -- could hardly hear because of the screaming.
I was there. As soon as I heard that deep baritone voice come in from backstage ..I knew who it was. At the time I sensed it was a historical musical moment. Gives me chills to relive it once more.
Man... It's 6 years after Bowie left us, and this video made me cry a river. I don't think I'll ever get over that. What a beautiful moment in this video.

Not many people could 'upstage' Morrissey, but Bowie had a stage presence that is unique and if you were ever fortunate enough to witness it live, it always resonates every time you see footage of him. You either got it or you ain't, and 'Starman' had it in abundance.. .

Jumped on stage right before this, looked across at Morrissey (I was just jumping on stage to see if I could-I wasn't going to hug Moz or anything) and I just stared out at the crowd before getting tackled and thrown down the stairs stage right and landed into Bowie with our faces pressed together - I was mortified and he looked at me like I was a monster. I was like, fug, that was weird, what's Bowie doing here, awesome.... They let me go back to my front row seat with a warning. Told my girlfriend I thought Bowie might come out - 2.0 seconds later here he was. Still a great story/memory, rock anecdote I too often don't share within the many rock stories from growing up in L.A. proper.

I wasn't a massive Bowie fan at the time (but loved him as a kid) and I actually really wasn't even a big Morrissey fan at the time either (but years earlier loved the Smiths). I have way more crazy rock stories than this one, I haven't really recalled this one that much over the years because it makes me sound like an idiot -- like why would I even go up there in the first place - I spent a lot of time going to punk shows earlier, stage diving, vert skater etc. Just stumbled across this video and thought I'd share.
@@azurebarrels3754 Bowie actually was known as being calm in stressed situations. I was at the concert in Oslo where some idiot threw a lollipop that hit him in his eye. It was obviously very painful and it was his good eye (he had a damaged eye with reduced vision). I was sure he would cancel the rest of the concert, but after a couple of minutes he continued with one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

They did. You can see a cameraman in the wings on the other side of the stage, recording the opposite view to this one. For some reason, the team at Morrissey Central only found, and uploaded, the feed from this camera. Maybe it’s all that Moz has, in His Archive Cupboard..? The complete rushes of both cameras MAY be elsewhere, in the archives of Tim Broad’s Estate, or at Palace Pictures, or EMI, or SOMEWHERE..? 🙏🏻

Morrissey hated Bowie, he said he was a big head and all the show would rotate around Bowie, he had to be the star and no one else really mattered, Keith Richards from the Stones said the same about Bowie, he said he was a thing that everbody Had to come to see, it wasn't about his music, David Bowie doesn't bother me either way, I like maybe bout 5 of his songs but professionals working with him have had bad experiences

He was ecstatic when Bowie invited him over to listen to his cover of "I Know It's Gonna Happen". When Morrissey co-headlined the Outside tour, he probably realized that David the businessman was very different than the myth of David Bowie that he loved, and he was disillusioned with him. His admiration for the art though never wavered. “I know I've criticised David in the past, but it's all been snot-nosed junior high ribbing on my part. I think he knows that.” Moz in 2014.

Yeah, I adored Morrissey, i was LUCKY enough to be up front, slightly right of center stage during this concert. I got to grab his hand a few times, and were it not of fear of being kicked out of the FORUM, i would of jumped up on that stage too! Haha. It was surreal. I hadn't realized how BLUE his eyes are.
This is a masterpiece. the lyrics; their voices; the shaky, raw video. I listen to this on repeat regularly. I think I would have cried if I was there in person.
I was there at Forum with my seats facing the stage. I have told the story about that night hundreds of times and the release of this video and track helps me to believe it happened. It was a wonderful surprise and the first I had seen Moz live. The whole concert was a wave of instant gratification for all of us misfits.

This took place in my town/Inglewood, CA. not too far from my house. I was in Saudi Arabia/Gulf War-I in ground combat during this time as an Infantry Marine Machinegunner. I'm a huge fan of both of these legends, I'd've rather been back home at that great concert instead.

I googled it. It was a Morrissey show and this was a suprise encore and Bowie`s only performance that night.

This took place in my town/Inglewood, CA. not too far from my house. I was in Saudi Arabia/Gulf War-I in ground combat during this time as an Infantry Marine Machinegunner. I'm a huge fan of both of these legends, I'd've rather been back home at that great concert instead.
