  • Hey guys welcome to a brand new video. Today we will be taking a look at 2 single engine turboprop high performance aircraft.
    Our first aircraft is the The TBM 940 which is the newest variant of the proven successful TBM aircraft.
    Next is the Beechcraft Denali which is a new aircraft that Beechcraft is bringing to the scene. I think we can definitely have faith in the capabilities of Beechcraft to make a great aircraft.
    The Cessna Denali is an American single engine-turboprop, aircraft under development by Textron Aviation. It will have 2 configurations. Both are Passenger configurations one being executive holding 6 passengers, and a high density configuration holding 9 passengers.
    The TBM is a high performance single-engine turboprop light business and utility aircraft. The TBM 940 offers the ultimate developments in avionics and comfort for a general aviation aircraft. As an evolution of the TBM 900 and of the TBM 930, the TBM 940 retains the air frame commonality with its predecessors Incorporating a variety of aluminum and steel alloys, titanium as well as advanced composite materials, the TBM air frame offers unmatched structural strength and durability at the lowest possible weight. From its inception, the TBM aircraft family employed a fail-safe air frame design, including the use of multiple load paths, a crack-stopper band, and an optimized number of access panels to maximize structural life and sub-system reliability, while also minimizing repair-cycle times.
    The flight deck of both of these aircraft feature Garmin G3000 avionics, an all-glass integrated avionics system with high-resolution displays and touchscreen controllers that provide situational awareness and intuitive operation for the single pilot. Both aircraft add a touch of their own to make the cockpit even better. The Denali adds a FADEC single-power lever with detents and digital propeller control, and you have an easy flying experience unlike anything else.
    The TBM 940 adds TBM E-COPILOT. TBM says that "You're never alone with the TBM "e-copilot" functions. They ease your workload with AOA (Angle of attack) indicator, ESP/USP (Enhanced Safety Protection/Under Speed Protection) systems, EDM (Emergency Descent Mode) on your autopilot. A smart stick shaker warns you in the event you fly outside the flight envelope. The autothrottle is linked to the autopilot and participate to pilot’s workload reduction.

    Beechcraft Denali, and I bet you drive a Ford Corvett.

      Haha, the video was made prior to the aircraft being rebranded from a Cessna to a Beechcraft.

    Great review of the Cessna Denali and the TBM940. I think the two aircraft compete in two closely related but separate segments of the general aviation market. The TBM is a legendary single-engine turboprop focused on the single-pilot general/private aviation market space. The Cessna Denali is more of a multi-purpose/role general aviation platform positioned to compete with the PC-12 NG from Pilatus. Both are amazing general aviation aircraft in their own right.

    PT-6 versus "the new guy turbine" PT6 is a beast.

    Again, i feel that TBM 940 is identical to family-use piper PA46 in each & every areas; while small passenger transporting Denali falls into direct competition with good selling Pilatus PC12.

    in my opinion, these r 2 different types of planes, smaller tbm is primarily designed for family use, while cessna/beechcraft denali is for commercial flight to carry & transport passengers...
    In summary, these 2 different aircrafts are designed to work in different directions!

    Hey Marlin. This got me thinking about engines. Could you do a video on the most common or most favorite engines. For example, like a tribute to to the PT6 variants. @SwayneMartin did a good overview when he was at Mokulele Airlines and it left me wanting to know more. Keep up the good work. I really look forward to your videos.

    Looks like Textron has decided that the Denali will be a Beechcraft not a Cessna. I think it will be great either way.

    I have done my own extensive research into these 2 and also the new TBM960... my conclusion as to which is better is.... THEY ARE NOT COMPETING AGAINST EACH OTHER.
    The Denali is actually in direct competition with the Pilatus PC-12. The Denali is specifically targeting the charter ops segment with the option for executive courier. Large robust landing gear, aft private lavatory, large rear cargo loading door, Garmin G3000 with onboard WX RADAR, 3D printed parts, dual controller FADEC, and high efficiency. Make no mistake the Denali is aiming to place the Pilatus PC-12 as obsolete; the Denali is a better plane than the PC-12 on paper, time will tell if it is truly worthy of replacing it.

    Very strange comparison. I doubt you’d find a potential buyer of either aircraft considering the other. The Denali market competitors are Textron stablemate KA 350i and the Swiss PC12 NGX. These are similar in speed, utility cabin versatility and space as well as price. Of course the Denali is still a wip in terms of certification but it’s market target is clearly the Pilatus. While I’m curious how it will impact the proven PC12 platform in marketshare, I do think it may dramatically impact the viability of the venerable KA.

    As far as I know the Denali will be sold under the Beechcraft name. So Beech will have another single engine aircraft to its stable of pedigrees.

      Richard Masters The Cessna looks the same as the PC-12 😂 I guess it will have to come down to performance, as the PC-12 has vast more room than the TBM and has quite an incredible useful load even with 8 passengers on board... I’m excited to see how the Cessna compares to the newest PC-12!

    All of the TBM models can only carry 5 passengers plus the pilot - not six passengers. The primary item that TBM likes to brag about on all of its models is "speed".

    How on earth can the TBM have better range and higher speed with 800shp vs the catalyst 1300shp?? Cessna should be embarrassed. Aside from derating which is standard, all I can gather is the airframe is less efficient either due to overall weight or aerodynamics as the wing strucutures look very similar; as does the airframe appearance

    The hell.. The *Denali* *has* *yet* *to* *make* *its* _first_ *flight* , you have nothing to compare! Once again we have an embarrassing video that ONLY looks to compare the *RHETORIC* of the aircrafts’ respective websites, rather than using actual substance.
    What a manufacturer SAYS can be completely different to what it does. There is no nuance, no real pilot analysis in these videos. ANYONE CAN READ THE SPECS PAGE OFF A WEBSITE and put it in a video.
    I am very disappointed that these videos continue to be placed in my recommendations. Should be sent to spam!

      TBM is a fan favorite for the segment it is in. The Denali has a long row to hoe to dethrone the TBM

    • @MichaelM-to4sg
      @MichaelM-to4sg 3 роки тому

      Define “better”. The Denali is less $$ but has similar performance, including full fadec operation. Textron has enormous existing global servicing infrastructure. Unknown how the GE engine will perform but tbo is comparable to new X-series PT6-67 used in NGX.
      Again, define “better than TBM”. For charter service, ok. The cabin is much bigger as is cockpit. Full fuel payload is better. The TBM is less $$ and considerably faster and more efficient. Largely depends upon mission. For our mission; most trips

    • @thetransponder7186
      @thetransponder7186 3 роки тому

      @@MichaelM-to4sg ok let me explain. The pilatus pc12 ngx has a pt6e full fadec. Longer range a wider cabin and a permanent bathroom. The Denali has full fadec shorter range a more cramped cabin and can carry 1 more person l At the cost of range and comfort. Their avionics sweets are both good it just depends on what you have bias for. Efficiency wise they're both good.
      The pc12 vs tbm on the other hand. The pc 12 has again honey well, more range more seats wider cabin and a bathroom. The tbm has less range, less seats smaller cabin, and no bathroom. But hey your more efficient, speed, and got the collins or g1000 system which is just as good as the honeywell apex system. All at the cost of way less cabin space and and no bathroom.
      So yeah the pc12 is better than all those planes logically.
