In last 6 years I saw Megadeth 3 times and honestly... none of the crowd seems to care or notice his struggling voice.
In youtube video, the instrument somehow sounds so thin and the vocal is loud in the mix but in concert itself, its the other way around.

Kiko is best thing to happen to megadeth in a long time. Dude is an absolute beast
Literally the best thing since Marty. In a recent documentary with Gibson, Mustaine pretty much alludes this.
In his perspective, he's been having to settle on guitarists before and between Marty and Kiko. Megadeth had a lot of talented guitarists, but nobody ever owned their role the way Marty and Kiko do.

If I remember correctly, this was only a few years before he was diagnosed with throat cancer. I heard them play a few months back and he sounded great.

Marty purposely out performed himself technically all over Rust In Peace because he knew back then that the era of thrash was peaking and musical styles and directions were gonna change to a more melodic and radio playable friendly transition. So he put it all out there on the table for one last time in the history books because indeed he was correct and Metallica's Black album came out and Megadeths Countdown album came out and the thrash scene wasn't the same at that point anymore and then grunge rock ruled the masses then after Emo-hip-hop-metal somehow slipped in and took over.....oh boy.....not to take away from Wes Borland and the Korn duo axe slingers, but Marty they aren't.....and a Marty their hasn't been since. Thanks Marty for the inspiring guitar playing and licks that will never be forgotten and never be outdone again.

@@lemon_curry_ well that's not respecting the song or the fans. I think Kiko needs to work on it more.......I heard him play it to the CD on his UA-cam Channel and it was recent and he almost had it down.
Dave is getting old and his voice is not the same. But he will always be a fantastic singer and guitarrist. And i'm so proud of Kiko, he's an amazing guitarrist!

What you have to remember is that at this point in time he most likely already had the throat cancer and didn't know it yet and he's up there giving it his all. It's hard and tiring work for him and you can "visibly" see it. He's trying his hardest and not yet knowing why it's so hard to belt out the high notes.

sad how age changes powerfull voices like Dave Mustaine, Axl Rose and Bon Jovi, but there's no way to fight it
And Dave has had some surgeries near his voice box so that can be a bad thing as well. To much head banging, guess when your neck is fked there is such a thing as to much.
I wonder if theres a way to prevent it. Rob halford and Bruce dickinson's voice sounds as good as their young age tho
@@luigitedjoputro3056 it's all about technique. You can sing as harsh and as aggressive as you want for however long you want as long as you maintain good technique whilst doing it.

With the comments concerning dm's vocals, keep in mind that he was diagnosed with throat cancer not long after this performance and it looks more like struggling with more than just age/abuse/wear on his voice. He looks like he is actually relieved to finish the song...imho.
I am actually suprised how powerfully Dave delivers his vocals in the past 6, 7 years sometimes. Especially in tornado
