Met Marty twice & have received cameos from him. Truly one of the nicest dudes I ever met. He even remembered meeting me in 2019. Very proud to call him an acquaintance! I hope everyone who reads this gets to meet Marty cause he’s amazing
It's a shame Eleffson was fired and Menza has passed. Dave had that lineup for 4 albums! It was the only time we were convinced Megadeth wasn't just the Dave Mustaine band.
What's cool is that Dave who is very his own way privately like the arms crossed 24/7 kind of guy being so relaxed and giddy when Marty is around. Dave truly loves Marty as a friend and former co-worker.
Dude thats why I put this here too. Its such a feel good moment. This, and when Jason played with Metallica on their 30th anniversary, those are some feelgood heavy metal moments for me.
Know Dirk was absolutely melting inside when Marty complimented him. I envy Dirk so much because he looks like he has more fun at his job than anyone ever has 😂
Anyone who has seen the old VH1 "Behind The Music" about Megadeth knows that Marty's biggest letdown was not being able to play Budokan. His heart was in it. Dave overdosed and the shows were cancelled. It pretty much broke Marty's relationship with the band at the time, and Dave. Then Dave had his usually asshat moment because Marty wanted to focus on a different style of music. It eventually led to Marty being kicked out. Im glad to see him playing some shows with them again. He clearly couldnt wait for the Budokan show.
Yes i knew all about martys budokan regret. Lots of props to dave for reaching out and offering the guest spot too. He couldve kept being an asshole and done it and not invite marty. Glad it happened how it did, and now he even did a 2nd guest performance.
Doesn't seem logical. Dave has been clean since 1990, around the time Rust in Peace came out. Marty hadn't toured with Megadeth yet, he joined just before the Rust in Peace sessions. Dave was indeed a total mess up until that point, with addiction to alcohol between 1983 and 1985 and addiction to hard drugs between 1985 and 1990, with the second half of 1988 being the most serious in his addiction, being on the brink of a fatal overdose, but never since then. He returned to drugs to relieve pain of his arm injury in 2002 but came clean soon after.
A friend and I met Megadeth briefly once during the Rust In Peace days at Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus in London. Must have been around 1992/1993. Queued for nearly 3 hours just to speak to them for a few minutes and get my Rust In Peace CD signed by Mustaine, Ellefson, Friedman and Menza (RIP). Told Marty that his solo in Tornado Of Souls was one of my top 3 favourite solos ever.... and it still is to this day. All 4 of them were nice, in the few minutes interaction we had with them. Then we saw them live at Hammersmith Odeon that night supported by Alice In Chains if memory serves. Amazing guitarist. Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction are still two of my favourite metal albums all these years later. 🙂
Man, I love this story. So many things about it bring good memories. Tower Records. Alice in Chains. Gahd. Miss that era so much. So happy you had an awesome interaction with the guys. That was peak Deth, in my opinion
I’m glad to see from the end of this video they at least professionally recorded it!!! I was worried we would only have that shitty cell phone video!!!
Back when I bought my Marty signature Jackson guitar, I had no idea who this guy was. Now, this dude is my idol😂. He just seems like a great person in so many ways.
Glad to see Marty to get to play with megadeth their ,they were supposed to play their years ago but I believe Dave was sick from drug abuse and had to cancel the show
I've met him at super market. 😂 I didn't know who he was but much later on I realized he is the lead guitarist of Mega death 😂 I was freaking so rude to him. Next time I have to apologize to him. 🙏😭
He’s undergone gruelling throat surgery, and god knows how many rounds of chemo & radiotherapy he has had, cancer isn’t just a thing that you can get rid of overnight.
1:20 Dave : Marty san!
Dave kun
NARUTOOOOO
@Dystopia54109 i think dave is daves biggest fan.....
Marty seems like a genuinely nice guy
He truly is
Too nice for megadeth
He does, but he could be into anything behind closed doors
ok? thanks?@@6u66legun
For real!!!
1:56 Seeing Marty must’ve made Dave feel young again because he sounds like his younger self. Usually his voice is raspy and deep.
I JUST NOTICED IT! it's like daves voice went up a whole octave
Thats actually one hell of an observation
Marty himself playing Tornado of Souls is too perfect. I'm glad they did this!
Wish I couldve posted the video of it but YT takes it down.

Marty is a legend!!!!! Such a great guy, absolutely no ego
He seems so chill, true.
Mustaine - Friedman - Louireiro.
What a trio of shredders, must’ve been awesome to witness these gigs.
Marty just doesnt age damn it
Must be something in the water in Japan. Lol.
Japanese diet , no alcohol , like me I m 52 but still look 25-30
It's a shame Eleffson was fired and Menza has passed. Dave had that lineup for 4 albums! It was the only time we were convinced Megadeth wasn't just the Dave Mustaine band.
I wish Menza was atill around too. I never really appreciated how awesome he was till he passed.
so fckn true man!
Just like keep your girlfriends above 18 when you start and all would have been golden. Except unfortunately Menza... Rest in Peace.
Idk I was a really big fan of the Chris/Gar lineup as well.
Its' like Marty was trapped in time and didn't grow old... that much
Dave looks 40 years older, while they are pretty much the same age
@@sinbysin666I remember maybe years ago it felt like Dave hadn’t aged since the 80s/90s then over the course of 2 years he aged like crazy
American vs Japanese lifestyle, mate.
@@Peter_Joshua More likely throat cancer.

Definitely my favorite of all the Deth guitar players
@@senyorlimpiogaming mine too. He is not only the best guitar player but also a very good musician.
Greatest metal guitar player ever
Everyone was so nervous being around Marty
Wouldn't you be too?
Hes a guitar god and they all know it!
That right exept kiko
Marty is very humble and a great spirit!
Mary was my guitar hero as a kid…was a megadeth fan since peace-sells but the Marty era turned me into a life long mega-fan..
I found Megadeth during the CTE album so Marty will always be my "first" guitarist when it comes ro the band.
Watching this clip with a smile on my face
Dude same. When I first saw it made me smile. Reminded me of when I first discovered Megadeth
This guy wrote and played arguably the greatest guitar solo in metal history, tornado of souls, for that alone he is a deity
Marty is a god of guitar he is truly legendary.
Dave has such a huge persona! he comes lurching in all calm looking like a characature of himself, fucking epic!!!!
Hes doing the Ozzy shuffle nowadays
Oh he has a huge persona alright
I love this sooo freaking much. Thank you!!!
youre most welcome!!
This brings tears to my eyes.
Imagine Marty walks into your gig and asks if he can jam with you but then says...as long as we don't play Tornado.
Hahaha. "Lets play breadline instead"
"That's totally cool. Do ya think you have a killing road, five magics, youthanasia, or symphony run-through in ya?"
Architecture of aggression!
Dave + Marty
Dave + Adrian
Will always be my 2 favorite duo's of all time.
What's cool is that Dave who is very his own way privately like the arms crossed 24/7 kind of guy being so relaxed and giddy when Marty is around. Dave truly loves Marty as a friend and former co-worker.
Yeah he seems to be truly stoked to be able to do this.
Sweating Bullets playing in the background! 🔥
I come back to this whenever I need to be cheered up, this reunion especially always does the trick

Same. Thats why I uploaded it. It just gave me the warm and fuzzies.
This is just one of my favorite moments in music. No animosity. Just cool to see Marty and Dave together again...as it should be.
Saaame. This, and Jason playing with Metallica at the 30th anniv gig are like, 2 of my faves.
Friedman was Megadeath's best guitarist
Kiko is right thur
@@bradmettler4566Was Kiko behind Rust in Peace? Enuff said.
@@IvoMaropo did I say that? Kiko is still on the same level despite not being in megadeth in the 80s. But anyway. Suck a cack

1st Chris Poland
2nd Marty Friedman
3rd Teemu Mantysari

It really is!

Kind of family reunion , class reunion....❤❤❤❤

@@senyorlimpiogaming I still want to see a Chris Poland reunion in my lifetime. Poland, Ellefson, and maybe Chuck Behler.
I can still see a Poland guest spot as a possibility. I think Eleffson has burned that bridge already though.
Well, Marty really left on his own. But other than that, yeah, you hit it right in the head brother
