9:28 Great message from him. I really liked how the video shows his versatility in food. He says his menu is for sharing among people, which is great to do to help build bonding time and create friendships. I want some Naples pizza 🍕 too. 😁
At least in 2019(maybe more) one of his restaurants Gradi at the Crown, Melbourne, Australia, didn't pay for the superannuation of some kitchen staff. The payslips shows the superannuation got paid. But actually it had not at all. It is not a lie.
Oh for God's sake, just give it a rest already. Kindly save your 'princess and the pea' act for other more worthy causes. His food tastes fab AND he's still opened. Perhaps the Mother Theresa in you is fairly resentful of his successes but I for one am very glad he's still feeding the Melbourne masses with good Italian cuisines.
Hey James thanks so much for your comment. We don’t know anything about this. But what we can say is everyone deserves to write a story of redemption. We want to encourage you to look beyond the past, have an awesome day my guy.
Was it intentional though and has it been resolved? Paying staff has become overly complicated over the years in Australia so I can understand how a small business might make the mistake. So many different awards, payroll tax, etc.
Thanks so much for watching our doco. We’re not sure about what the quality was like back in 2015 but boy having pizzas cooked by the Nepalese team at Brunswick was world class.
@@kc4699 honestly i don’t agree. Wouldnt want to go to a Indian restaurant and have an Italian chef. I think a lot of the skill and taste is picked up over the years and through culture and traditions
Why they need to choose one restaurant in melbourne which everybody already knows ? It will be great if you can feature more of small places in Melbourne which not many people know.
Kia Ora! We all started in the same place, Bob. We totally love celebrating small mum and pap businesses and this is why Johnny’s story mattered to us because he proved that anything is possible. :) love your heart for small restaurants; we are with you 100%
@@StoryBites.Yup, anything is possible when your business's wage costs are so much lower than your competitors due to underpayment of staff wages and super. Real reporting would do a deep dive into a business before doing a fluffy piece on them.
Thank you so much for commenting mate. If you do a little research on 400 Gradi, you’ll see he has 7+ restaurants across Australia and USA and also sells to Supermarkets :)
@ aware of how many stores they have. Crunch the numbers there is no chance they’re doing anything close to 150k a week. Think there food and pizza is excellent, numbers are just off
Ive been there and eaten that pizza and it was just ok. Ive eaten so many margarita pizzas in melbourne that are way better. Everyone i know agrees this is bs. Pizza is average
It was the impact and change that 400 Gradi drove that made them stand out. As a northerner in Melbourne around 2008, if you wanted pizza it was all the same Suburban takeaway style - shredded ham and packaged veggies on a fat doughy base. 400 Gradi popularised the Wood fire Naples style by proving that people wanted a change in that food experience and just as importantly - wanted a social dining experience and were prepared to pay for it. It suited the Melbourne winter lifestyle. Pretty much all dining experience pizzas are now of the wood fire Naples style, but it was 400 Gradi that showed the way.

Such genuine passion in keeping Italian cooking heritage alive
Thank you so much for your kind words Emmanuel. It’s truly a story to sticking to tradition and making a big splash in the market
Yum ❤😊
Yes it was stunningly delicious
Used to be great back in 2013-2015 but then they expanded, hired Indian cooks, overinflated their prices and quality suffered for greed.

Looks grouse, might be worth a trip to the big smoke to have some grub 🇦🇺🍻👍
Definitely worth a go :)
150k pizzas a week is a huge stretch, that would put his gross at around 7million a week. There is no chance. Excellent food though

And all the money goes to his luxury watches. Not the staff.
@@forforksteak6491 smells fishy
That would make it nearly $50 a pizza
