  • Knowing how to and where to return a service is a particularly good tactic in badminton doubles, as the court is bigger, and you have two opponents. Coach Kennie gives some tips on how to quickly go on the offensive when returning a serve.

  • @bbsolpico1

    I noticed that at high level tournaments, people almost never serve low wide (and receivers are more close to the middle) That means it might be easy to punish the server when they serve low-wide, but I don't know how. I am pretty good at returning low serves from the T or directly to me.
    How do you optimally return a low wide serve towards your forehand? I understand it takes a longer time to travel than the other 2 low serves, so does that mean it is easier to kill it? In my experience when it already goes below the net, I can't return it advantageously, oftentimes I lose the point.

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  3 роки тому +1

      Serves are executed for opponents to potentially recieve it and give it back to us in a way we want it returned. Very good observation from u regarding international players and i will do my best to make a video explanation on this as it is hard to just text it. However, an immediate solution for u having a hard time with a wider serve, Is not to let ur opponent see that you are slowly moving your position closer to where u have difficulty receiving in that way u anticipate and hopefully return it better! 😁🏸

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  3 роки тому

      In playing doubles, do your best to make your partner feel confident and acknowledge their efforts, the more comfortable they are, the better they will play... if you are the better player when u have to lift, lift it to your side so when opponent smashes straight (which is stronger) you are the one returning it and if the opponent smashes cross court (which become softer bec of the travel time) it will be to your partner. 😁🏸

    Hello Coach,
    I use Tips given by you.
    I have 1 Doubt, when to play cross-court drop shot?
    Because many times when I play coss-court my oppponent Tap my shot and wins point in Singles and Doubles.
    Please clear my Doubt.

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  3 роки тому +1

      If you’re opponent is waiting for you, that means you cross court drop is predictable. Sometimes instead of a cross drop change to a straight drop at the last min or maybe clear or smash at the last min. Do not be predictable😁🏸

    Thank you, some really useful information in there. Nothing about where to stand though, in relation to the service line - should this be as close as possible to the service line, or back a bit to deal with flick serves? Thank you 👍

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  3 роки тому +1

      That is where players vary some like standing very close to the service line so that they can immediately hit the whot while others anticipate the flick and would rather move back a bit from the service line... it really depends what you prefer😁🏸
