    I was at a GS9 cocktail party, an event hosted by Grand Seiko for GS owners. They brought a handful of Credor watches for showcasing. I asked them how Credor fits in the lineup of Seiko brands, and the way they described it made Grand Seiko feel so inadequate, it’s insane. Basically, Grand Seiko is focused on functionality and mass production while Credor focuses on pure craftsmanship.

    After a one year wait I got one of these about 18 months ago and I wear it often. One of the nice things about such a simple watch in “white metal” is just how under the radar it is, but it never loses its thrill when I look at the dial, and I wind it movement side up to appreciate the finish as the power reserve indicator sweeps across. So nice to see it on this channel today - beautifully done as always, thank you.

  • @SiopaoSauc3
    @SiopaoSauc3 4 роки тому +20

    09:01 People are pointing out that the first "R" in the "CREDOR" in the movement that's engraved/embossed(?) at the back doesn't have the extended tail that's on the second R, or even that's on the first R in the dial.
    I think it's because the dial is handpainted and the artisan can space the letters to fit. The back seems to be done by machine I assume, and in the computer the *kerning*, the space between the letters, is closer together and it omits the extended tail of the R, to maintain that constant distance between the letters.
    Notice how there's more "air" between the lobe of the R and the spine/stem of the E on the dial, especially compared to the "EDOR" part, to fit the tail. - i find it only enhances the wabi-sabi quality of the watch.

    The mirror polish on the enamel dial is fucking insane. The movement also looks gorgeous.

    As a Seiko enthusiast who has indeed heard of the Credor brand, I found all this very interesting, but I was puzzled why the writing on the movement plate appeared to be ink and not hand engraved. Now I'm wondering if that writing is hand painted with a brush too, just like the CREDO brand name on the astonishing dial?

      It is not ink use a larger monitor with better resolution. They used laser etching.

    Thank you for showcasing how Seiko and this incredible watch making..I asked a few weeks back if you could do a story about the Seiko Spring Drive evolution..I have a Ananta Spring Drive GMT...would like to see you showcase and explain just how remarkable the Spring Drive movement actually is...30 years research and development by a Graduate Physicist...230 individual patents..including a new metal alloy Spring for the main spring..The magnetic braking system..The 25 nano watts generated to power that system the glide wheel rotates through and the quartz pulsar fires 6 times a second to regulate the the system..Not to mention the vertical clutch system and the fact that all movement is in one direction..and it does not tick..or make any discernable noise..leave the rest of the details of the Spring Drive movement up to you to explain to the rest of your subscriber's if you could please if you feel so inclined...

    I am lucky to own some Credor watches, most are mechanical. From the entry level with 4L75 to high end 6898 movement. And they are the most pleasing watches to wear.

      @V P did you put any credor or grand seiko irl aside with any rolex/omega or even PP or AP and comparing them without any bias?
      Is toyota any asian assembled crap?
      And i dont understand there is any relevance between my name and Credor and Japanese made items. I am Vietnamese, commenting using an Apple iphone, wearing Adidas andhaving an espresso cup.

      I love wrist watch, no matter where it from. Swiss, German, Japan. I dont say anything like Japanese excels in this field, but look what they archieved, esp in the 70s-80s.
