I'm guessing no because the whole idea of airplane mode is safety, to cut any chance of interference via radio waves basically so why wouldn't it work?

5G gives the speeds necessary for mass surveillance, it is that simple. It takes many more masts for 5G and instead of using the money they fleece out of people, to cover those costs, they would sooner switch off other masts. This is the sort of thing that should have Ofcom hopping, they aren't because they no longer serve the consumer.

It's a thing now that a lot of long distance walkers in USA,the ones who do those hundreds of miles long trails are now using walkie talkie radios. The reason they give is that in some of those wild places there is no signal. Now,the ones I heard on the radio were VERY SENSIBLE not to SAY the real reason but reading between the lines I think the real reason is they want to free themselves from surveillance. And not for sinister or criminal reasons. The fact is,as I understand it,no matter how remote you are you can use GPS from space to identify your location, and that was how it was "sold" to us. No one ever need to be lost again. The emergency services can find you even in the middle of the Gobi desert. So these walkers want to go back to that earlier time,in our lifetimes when you relied on your own courage, skill and wits. And not have Googlespy following your every movement.

2G is what is used for phone calls and texts. I rarely use mobile data, only really for live traffic / sat nav. I would never stream a film on a handheld device. 4G has plenty of speed. 5G isn't really so your twitter loads 1 second faster, it is for all the surveillance stuff to communicate, all the cameras , smart devices, things that track our movements. Hello Geoff,
Someone elsa may have already said this, but I don't have time to go look.
I'm not an RF engineer but I've more than a passing interest and bit of knowledge on the subject.
If you want to cram more data accross the airwaves, generally speaking, you're going to use a higher carrier frequency. Those higher frequencies do not have as much "punch" though. They're more readily attenuated by environmental factors, they don't carry as far. Hence the need for base stations that are much closer together.
Also, radio waves are generally polarised, they travel vertically and or horizontally (there's more to it than that) and when you're trying to eek out the best perfornance, the orientation of the phone itself becomes more critical.
More data means faster processors, more power, less battery life.
Gold is an excellent conductor. It's factor in greater RF efficiency I'm not sure about. Someone else can speak to that.
The radio spectrum is getting more and more crowded, it's efficient use is therefor of considerable importance.

Mobile phone masts were originally only given temporary planning as all phones were supposed to eventually get signals from satellite. However, this all changed when governments were involved in selling aerial space. Several of my customers sold mast space to mobile phone companies on lease. Also in certain places there is so much military electronics monitoring systems and these upset signals but these are only for small distances.

Vodafone completed its 3G switch-off in early 2024. EE completed its switch-off in early 2024. Three expects to switch-off by the end of 2024. O2 is planning to switch-off in 2025. It's old technology. There's no need to keep it going.

    What I'm suspicious of is:
Why does my Canon Printer App insist that I have high resolution location switched on, before permitting me to pass a document to using it to my printer 🤔
Both me and the printer are both on the same WiFi ( in fact I can physically touch the printer )
    Odd. Odd .odd 🤔

That signal issue you both experienced with your phone call at the 16:12 mark in the video, were it went all weird sounding, seems to me exactly like the signal being attenuated - a momentary weaking of the signal strength leading to a reduction in the signal quality, which reduces data throughput, means dropped data packs and transmission errors. The odd noise effects are also reminiscient of signal distortion and reflections, leading to the data packets arriving out of sequence. Likely this is caused by something interrupting the signal between the mast and your device. Birds, plane, large vehicles, trees blowing the wind etc. And also atmospheric phenomenon.

    Fun fact
4G Mobile phone coverage is INCREDIBLE in Hungary (compared to the UK)
I have been all over rural Hungary and never not had a signal, even on the underground metro or up a mountain, they seem to have coverage everywhere.
In the UK, I can't get a signal in my local town centre 🤷‍♂ Hungary's tax budget is 1% of the UK's by the way

Same in Romania. Almost always a good 4G signal. I live in a fairly remote rural village in a valley! I travel 90kms by train once or twice a month from the nearest station (6kms away) to Sibiu. The railway follows valleys because it's a very hilly area but there's only part of the journey with no mobile signal for about 5kms in an area where the hills are much closer to the railway.

I had an Ericsson with a rubber shark fin ariel on top and rubber gaskets all round so you didn't get muck in the charging hole and it was solid and heavy and reliable and I don't think it had snake but you could make your own ringtones on it and I loved it. But then I got talked into joining the new, wonderful 3 network and they flogged me an NEC videophone and I could only send really grainy photos to one bloke that I knew, usually when we were in the same pub anyway. But I loved that Ericsson

The actual reason for the difefrence is power... Think audio, Bass travels further than treble, Why does bass travel further than treble?
Because low-frequency tones have larger wavelengths, they penetrate different materials better than high-frequency ones. That's why you hear the bass from your neighbour's speakers but not the treble.
5G is a higher frequency and travels less distance, simple physics.
5G will make no difefrence to the emergency services, they use a custom mesh network called Tetra...

  • @RicardoPetrazzi
    @RicardoPetrazzi 7 днів тому

Listening to your conversation on the diffrences in 3G and 5G - here's the TL:DR of it. 3G has good coverage and range and lower data rates - 5G is the oppostite - and the reason is the frequency of the carrier wave used. Higher band frequencies of 5G (ie: 16 - 24GHz ) are more suceptible to interference by things like trees than 3G frequencies were. And, the shear increase in the number of devices connecting to the network means more people sharing the bandwidth.
