    We are part of the Jackson water crisis. It affects mostly low income families both black and white. We are continuously under boil water notices. Our family tries to survive mostly off of bottled water. Here recently both our family and our neighbor, who all drink bottled water, became very ill. The only thing we could blame was the water as that is all we had in common. Both house holds have dealt with over a month long stomach Illness that is debilitating. Doctors haven’t taken either household seriously. I believe they don’t realize just how bad the water is here. I truly feel like we live in a third world country. Add to that the power outages and no way to boil our wash water and here come bigger issues. My family is looking into camping equipment that can be used to filter our water before boiling and camp stoves to boil while the power is out. We truly are living a pioneer lifestyle in the 21st century. Think about that while you are enjoying clean water today.

      I left Jackson, MS, in 1981 when it was thriving. I knew it was somewhere I didn't want to live, however, I could not begin to fathom the condition in which it would end up. God, thank you for getting me out of that city. I feel sorry for my relatives and friends who are forced to live there.

      The issues with infrastructure began BEFORE Blacks began running the city. They inherited problems created by crooked white politicians. White politicians turn down federal money that is allocated to the state. What money is allowed to come to the state is not used for its intended purposes. It is distributed among crooked politicians. Some Black politicians do bear some of the brunt of the issues concerning Jackson, but they are not the only reason the city is in the condition it's in.

    • @UltimatumNo5

      Mate, white people voted for it, black people were largely prevented from voting by practices that undermine a right to vote based on things with little evidence supporting them - voter ID laws protect against someone impersonating another voter, which is a felony that can land you with 5 years in prison - yet these states refuse to provide free voter ID to those asking for it or put on onerous requirements for vast amounts of documents all because Black and Latinos are less likely to have Driving licences or passports, and they don't recognise PO Boxes so Native Americans aren't given much of a chance either. And note Flint - the state was lead by a mostly white, republican government which didn't care about the poor black people because they didn't elect them. Furthermore, it's not as though tax dollars can't be moved to where it is needed, but nobody has adequately funded it. This is only a snapshot of many problems but it is not purely because someone ticked the box with an (R ) next to it out of a two party system.

      @@UltimatumNo5 no doubt you're an authority and I agree those things suppress black turnout, I'll even add that voting behaviors are frequently taught by your parents and there was a generation of people of color whose parents had no experience voting. But these rights have been under attack in the South for 30 years!?!?!? And that entire time there have been people trying to fight this and still these voter turnouts reflect more than voter suppression they also reflect distrust and disinterest. And again those are attitudes that can be addressed and are addressed by people on the street doing the work it's just their message hasn't been received very well for decades. I think there's been generational turnover that's intolerant of it but there's a generation x component that really f***** up by becoming apathetic. I'm not saying they're apathy is inexplicable but I am saying it hurts our society

    Mississippi has the MISSISSIPPI RIVER, the largest and widest river in the USA with fresh water. There is plenty of water in Mississippi and they can share water with all of the other states in the USA. All they have to do is clean the water. I live in Texas where we have a drought and a DRY RIVER. Now, Southwest Texas has no water. Our Rio Grande River is a dirt road that you can drive on top of it. (Dirt Road Truckers) . that's how dry it is. And we don't complain.

    • @LindaOliver-e8q
      @LindaOliver-e8q Рік тому +1

      It goes into the pockets of Mississippi's crooked politicians. The governor, the mayors, and the state legislators decide where the money goes, and it AIN'T to the needs of the citizens. At least the poor citizens don't benefit from the money. Mississippi's predominately white citizens don't have these problems. They're growing and prospering. Jackson is the capitol city, but it is a dump. Just north of Jackson is Madison, a very prosperous city. The same thing regarding the cities of Rankin County which are east of Jackson. Both areas are predominately white. It's disgraceful that Mississippi is still as racist as it was during slavery.

      Has nothing to do with the city, in the state of Mississippi, cities don't have the ability to tax or collect most taxes from its residents, only the State can do that.
      So, cities are at the pleasure of the governor. Not hard to understand why welfare fund can give Brent Far be millions and black communities do little.
      Then people like you who don't know how the state system work, throw blame on others. Maybe you do know and just wanted to blame the black guy.
