I believe the 'Christmas-themed' melody running through the song is 'Carol of the Bells' played backwards, and the whole thing is actually played in waltz time (3/4).
Saw and shot them as accredited photographer this week. They put on a great show live. At Christmas Truce they had a piano that was burning on the top while being played and Tommy was standing above it. A song by Sabaton for which you'll need a complete tissue box is "No Bullets Fly", the animated story video. It's about a moment of bravery and mercy and how it brought two "enemies" together.

As for a war that never ends, this was harmless though... To quote another of my Sabaton favourites, "They've been to war a decade. Two more to come..." ("Lifetime of War", about the Thirty Year War obviously)... Just think about it, being 20-25 _and never having known peace..._ 😭
i saw them in berlin this year and they played this song, the athmosphere was so intense you could have cut it with a knife. it was just awsome. the whole show was great. they played 1916 and soldier of heaven too
What you said about what it takes for someone to go over the top to try to make peace makes me wonder how many soldiers just couldn't take it anymore and stuck their heads up in the hopes a sniper would put them out of their misery...
The animated music video is a tearjerker too but is one of the most heartwarming stories in a war. It will restore your faith in humanity if you feel it slipping
When I learned in history class of Christmas Truce, I could barely believe it at first. How could anyone meet up with the enemy in the middle of a really brutal war and hang out? But when you fight out of duty and not out of hatred, it is clearly possible. The story was just too beautiful
Please, never apologize for pausing. This is a REACTION video after all. That is what happens when one pauses to react to what is being shown. #pausegangunite
Awe thank you! I got so much stick for being emotional and for pausing.... and I was like "emmm isn't that the point of a reaction.....I react authentically..." anyways I really appreciate the feedback!
It shows that regular men at the front have civility, unlike the ones in the back, how ever there were some parts in the line where when the Germans/Austrohungarians came out they got killed, thus there was not truce in those areas on the line. Here is a line from an old folk song about catholics and protestants killing one another forever more in the north of ireland: "Those who give the orders are not the ones to die"
My personal belief is, if you're willing to send people to their death, you should have a riffle put in your hands and you should be on the front line shoulder to shoulder with them. Never ask someone else to do something you wouldn't do yourself.
Sweet emotional reaction but holy sh!t...what are you going to do when you see NO BULLETS FLY the animated official video, a story from WWII that kept going till nowadays? My wife was devastated, couldn't believe her eyes! Greetings from Greece...and remain as calm as possible!

6:08 A German who was at one of the truces (there were multiple small ones rather than one large one), Manfred von Schreiber I think, wrote home about how he met a Scottish piper that day. It was actually customary at the time after a battle that the doctors and their helpers were allowed to get injured people off the field, so they weren't allowed to shoot. It wasn't like that everywhere but on some fronts
Oh yeah, that Christmas thing really happened. Some soldiers refused to continue fighting, as far as I know it was the case on both sides. Those who were not shot for disobeying orders went to another sector of the front. Most of them died, but those who survived this war told about it.

I can´t even emagine how hard that must been to start fight again after 1 day of peace and enjoyment together with their enemie. In the end on the day we are all the same, the world would be better if we can share love insteed of hate :/
My understanding is many that took part where transfered out to other parts of the front. I am thinking they may have done this because it was easier then executing the people that took part and cause a even bigger loss of the troop metal stability.
I honestly feel that if you don't pause and you don't react when you feel the need to then its not a genuine reaction Pause as you need and I subscribed to the channel Yes it was Floor 😊

just found your channel .Sabaton have their own history channel Sabaton history channel on You Tube were they go into the history of the song they performe
its not known who first stepped out of the trenches but whoever did either had a lot of faith in the enemy or (more disturbingly) was just fed up and had enough
The sad thing is, in the years after this was discouraged by officers. And probably was only possible as it was only 5 months after initial hostilities in 1914. In 1915 the "Christmas truces" were not as wide spread due to growing hostilities between sides with the growing human losses.
Have you see they (No Bullets Fly (Animated Story Video) and (Night Witches ( Animated Story Video) Am a little afraid for you health if you see those alone.🤗
Fraternizing was very common in 1st year of "the great war". Depends on where you were but as men for adventure it wasn't like it was written in books. So after couple months enemy isn't enemy anymore. In some parts they warned other side that they're gonna bomb that section of trench. So Xmas truce wasn't just one place nor it was whole western front. But summary was, not like most of say that they went to war afterwards. No. Officers had to keep them in "row" and those who didn't want to shoot enemy were transfered to other places. Again this was early in the war. Later it became very dirty but a soldier suffered and died highly likely to illnesses. Ok, i tried lol
This story is one of the most beautiful things that came out of the terrible war but there are others there was a part of the line on the trenches of live in that live where both sides didn't really want to kill each other and with brew notes and blue whistles to let the other side know there's there's a bomb or something coming over to take cover they didn't wanna do it they ordered but they give them a warning in this is backing forward this live in let live mentality it was dissolved overtime but that's where humanities shines warmongers and I know it The news today is the end is going to be another fight war but deep down humanity does not want that what humidity want is peace and love
Made a comment on youre reaction to 1916. But i make a request here as well. Sabaton with "NO bullets fly". Bring tissues and thank you for a wounderful reaction.
@The Metal Muse: Ms. Muse....Dom. Please...do not be ashamed of your tears. They show you to have a conscience. You empathize. That you have compassion. What this really shows is how, even in the darkest hours, the darkest days, that men will not lose their humanity, as long as the light of hope stays lit. There are some interesting things from this that you should know. First, after the Truce in 1914, a German commander ended up shifting his unit to another section of the line, when his men refused to fire upon the men they had celebrated Christmas with the day before. Second, I once read a comment that has always stayed with me: A commenter on another reaction said that had it not been for the Christmas Truce, he would not exist, as his great-grandfathers met each other on that field that day, near Ypres, Belgium. Lastly, the cross at Ypres, which still commemorates the event, still stands as a solemn reminder and monument to the courage of the men who put down their guns that day. And yes, that was Floor singing the ending operatic vocals, as her hubby Hannes, the long-haired blonde guy you see in the beginning almost get blown up, is Sabaton's drummer. So when Joakim wanted operatic vocals, Hannes asked, and Floor delivered. As I've said elsewhere, Floor has a hauntingly beautiful vocal quality, especially when she sings opera. And Dom, I have two songs for you to react to next, both "Animated Story videos, featuring YarnHub:" 1) No Bullets Fly 2) Night Witches Trust me when I say, better it is to cry, learning history, and the tragedy that has happened, than it is to not cry, and forget about history, and what it can yet teach us -- because those who do not remember history, are condemned to repeat it.
I mean how anyone could watch this, know this history without feeling something is beyond me. Both those songs are on the "soon to come list" I have heard Night Witches and I have watched a few documentaries about them but I am going in fully blind on No Bullets Fly.
I love this song and video, and yes, emotional would be right. Just when you think it's done they pile on more with Par at the cross and the closing credits music. For another Sabaton video I would very much recommend their live performance of En Livstid I Krig, the Swedish language version of A Lifetime of War (put the captions on!). It is an utterly majestic performance in front of an incredible crowd. It's filmed from one camera which is on the stage behind most of the band and gives you a great view on what it would have looked like to the band themselves. Link is: ua-cam.com/video/WBs3G1PvyfM/v-deo.html
the sad story behind this is that the countries superiors of BOTH sides caught wind of this happening and if this would happen again every soldier would be charged for treason. the people in the chairs doing what they want while the puppets have to move.
Yes, it is Floor Jansen singing in the end. She is married to Sabatons drummer, and I think she have done these things for them in the past too.

Or maybe also add 'The Price of A Mile' here with Apocalyptica: ua-cam.com/video/XMANXJX_nh4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Sabaton
@@themetalmuse There are tears, but they're good (cathartic) ones.
I can´t even emagine how hard that must been to start fight again after 1 day of peace and enjoyment together with their enemie. In the end on the day we are all the same, the world would be better if we can share love insteed of hate :/
Agreed
My understanding is many that took part where transfered out to other parts of the front. I am thinking they may have done this because it was easier then executing the people that took part and cause a even bigger loss of the troop metal stability.
I honestly feel that if you don't pause and you don't react when you feel the need to then its not a genuine reaction
Pause as you need and I subscribed to the channel
Yes it was Floor 😊
Awe thank you! I was starting to second guess myself because I got so much stick for pausing, but honestly this was just my real gut reaction to such a poignant video and song.
Is anybody recommending Sabaton - Night Witches , the animated STORY version? Beside me, ofcourse :)
Quite a few people have and trust me I am gonna do it. I have heard the song, never seen the video but have watched a few documentaries on these ladies.
It was indeed Floor Jansen at the end.
Had to be, the voice was so angelic and other worldly.
just found your channel .Sabaton have their own history channel Sabaton history channel on You Tube were they go into the history of the song they performe
Yeah I have subbed to it. It's amazing.
its not known who first stepped out of the trenches but whoever did either had a lot of faith in the enemy or (more disturbingly) was just fed up and had enough
True
a really beautiful trilogy that's also very emotional would be lorna shore pain remains
I really want to see them live. ❤️

The sad thing is, in the years after this was discouraged by officers. And probably was only possible as it was only 5 months after initial hostilities in 1914. In 1915 the "Christmas truces" were not as wide spread due to growing hostilities between sides with the growing human losses.
😟
Have you see they (No Bullets Fly (Animated Story Video) and (Night Witches ( Animated Story Video) Am a little afraid for you health if you see those alone.🤗
LOL me too! People keep saying "you're gonna need more tissues" should I have a friend come sit next door for hug breaks?
@@themetalmuse Yes think that might be a good plan hehe:)
Thanks
This story is one of the most beautiful things that came out of the terrible war but there are others there was a part of the line on the trenches of live in that live where both sides didn't really want to kill each other and with brew notes and blue whistles to let the other side know there's there's a bomb or something coming over to take cover they didn't wanna do it they ordered but they give them a warning in this is backing forward this live in let live mentality it was dissolved overtime but that's where humanities shines warmongers and I know it The news today is the end is going to be another fight war but deep down humanity does not want that what humidity want is peace and love
sabaton epica nightwish my top 3 bands
I need to check Epica
Made a comment on youre reaction to 1916. But i make a request here as well. Sabaton with "NO bullets fly". Bring tissues and thank you for a wounderful reaction.
I saw you did, ok so I will do that one for sure!
And Dom, I have two songs for you to react to next, both "Animated Story videos, featuring YarnHub:"
1) No Bullets Fly
2) Night Witches
Trust me when I say, better it is to cry, learning history, and the tragedy that has happened, than it is to not cry, and forget about history, and what it can yet teach us -- because those who do not remember history, are condemned to repeat it.
I mean how anyone could watch this, know this history without feeling something is beyond me. Both those songs are on the "soon to come list" I have heard Night Witches and I have watched a few documentaries about them but I am going in fully blind on No Bullets Fly.
Wow from Poland
Hi 🤘
Nice reaction.
Thank you 😁
sabaton lady of the dark animated story video
I love this song and video, and yes, emotional would be right. Just when you think it's done they pile on more with Par at the cross and the closing credits music.
For another Sabaton video I would very much recommend their live performance of En Livstid I Krig, the Swedish language version of A Lifetime of War (put the captions on!). It is an utterly majestic performance in front of an incredible crowd. It's filmed from one camera which is on the stage behind most of the band and gives you a great view on what it would have looked like to the band themselves. Thank you for sharing the link, good recommendations!
night witches,no bullets fly, solider of heaven you should check out
Just did a reaction to Nightwitches so blooming amazing. I’ll share soon so stay tuned 😁
I recommend Cliffs of Gallipoli by Sabaton for another set of tears.

Next song must be Uprising, The final solution or no bullets fly animated video.
No Bullets Fly seems to be the fan pick so I have to do it........no matter how much I cry.
The men who fought in that war had to fight through bullets shrapnel and gas all while dealing with lice and rats
Yeah it was horrific

the sad story behind this is that the countries superiors of BOTH sides caught wind of this happening and if this would happen again every soldier would be charged for treason. the people in the chairs doing what they want while the puppets have to move.
It's so tragic and cold hearted! (sorry for the delayed response work has been bonkers)
Purtroppo da allora, invece, continuiamo a dimenticare e ricadiamo sempre nello stesso errore...la guerra
Sorry I don't understand but thank you for watching and for commenting ❤️

"I got told off in the comments". Whut? Your channel, your rules. People have issues with pausing then they can watch the original video.
Hahaha love that! Thanks for the feedback and encouragement.
Metal isn't a latex suit; leather, sure. Latex, nope.
LOL who are you, the metal fashion police? Last I checked metal was whatever you wanted to wear.
You can have reactions. That’s great. But, stop pausing so frequently. You can easily go to the end of the entire video and react.
Nahhh I have ADHD and need to say my thoughts as they happen. But thanks for the suggestion. I’ll just do it my way.
