Allison has an astounding voice that you only come across occasionally and combined with a pre-raphaelite beauty that would make Holman Hunt weep you have a package dest8ned for greatness.
Allison, you took this melody to a whole new level. Borrowing from the original, adding new inversions, new runs. I wonder how much of this was rehearsed versus improvised. It sounds absolutely divine!
I've always loved this song, but this version has a sensuality the original didn't. Made all the more by the amazingly talented and lovely Allison Young
I also think she is beautiful too. But I think it is not only the physical features that makes her beautiful but also her womanly attitude makes her beautiful
The part where she sings 'Mr. Blue Sky please tell us why you had to go away for so long. Where did we go wrong?' reminds me of a post-apocalyptic era where a nuclear fallout covered the earth's atmosphere in dense clouds and the sky was no longer visible and people can only glimpse it very rarely. And when they ask 'Where did we go wrong?' Its rhetorical and satirical at the same time, as if they were begging for forgiveness for what they've done.
Reminds me of the west coast fires that filled the air with smoke across many states. The sky was gray, and red and orange the closer you were to the fires, for many days. It's still gray outside where I'm at now.
I love her (them, all of them) it’s like walking into a club and hearing a really good band with a really good singer who have been doing their thing for years. No auto-tune, just good musicians and a beautiful singer. Like music’s supposed to sound like.

The vocalization was wonderful, best I've heard on this channel. The arrangement was... useful for highlighting the vocals. Fairly basic musicianship backing the exquisite vocal talent of Ms. Young.
this is so good I not knowing the original decided to remain this way
This. We need more of this. More classic songs being covered.
I know right! PMJ please do the Carpenters!
More? Are you kidding? There's a whole *genre* of people doing just that nowadays, from Nouvelle Vague to the Mike Flowers Pops to Señor Coconut to The Replicants to Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and beyond! They're all here on UA-cam as well...
@@polka_1366 Have you heard Sonic Youth doing "Superstar"? Dig it: ua-cam.com/video/Y21VecIIdBI/v-deo.html
Beautiful performance by miss Young. Great.
To be totally honest, I wasn't going to click on this until I saw Allison Young in the title. She's easily my favorite singer.
Please invite Allison to come back. She is fantastic!
They did it again. A true masterpiece. A perfect way to start off the new year!!
Rainy day (flood warnings) here in Australia in May 2024 now Allison has brightened up the day.
I need this in Spotify yesterday
José Ángel Robleto it’s up on Spotify now :)
She is drop. Dead. Gorgeous!
Voice to match! And what a wonderful cover.
It feels like rainy Friday evening with a cup of hot tea
Allison makes for a perfect jazz singer.
Allison has an astounding voice that you only come across occasionally and combined with a pre-raphaelite beauty that would make Holman Hunt weep you have a package dest8ned for greatness.
This is the kind of things that I didn’t know I need but make me extremely happy
Same, it's beautiful
I couldn’t have asked for better. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and you did it great justice!! I love it
So happy you enjoyed it :)
For great justice!
Allison, you took this melody to a whole new level. Borrowing from the original, adding new inversions, new runs. I wonder how much of this was rehearsed versus improvised. It sounds absolutely divine!
The singer's voice and facials and gestures were just so perfect. You could see the joy in her face and her dancing!
Ok, somebody’s gotta say it: that dress with side-slit kills!
Truly wonderful !!!!
Murder one - fully intentional - though one might say it's not the wrap that kills.
I used to say she was adorable but wow, she is straight up gorgeous!
Outstanding!
Finally a song I recognize and with a great arrangement and performance to boot.
Classic PMJ and why we’re here.
I've always loved this song, but this version has a sensuality the original didn't. Made all the more by the amazingly talented and lovely Allison Young
Damn honestly, she's so beautiful.
Stunning, true beauty indeed.
I also think she is beautiful too. But I think it is not only the physical features that makes her beautiful but also her womanly attitude makes her beautiful
godenn it's like she's stepped out of an art nouveau painting
The part where she sings 'Mr. Blue Sky please tell us why you had to go away for so long. Where did we go wrong?' reminds me of a post-apocalyptic era where a nuclear fallout covered the earth's atmosphere in dense clouds and the sky was no longer visible and people can only glimpse it very rarely. And when they ask 'Where did we go wrong?' Its rhetorical and satirical at the same time, as if they were begging for forgiveness for what they've done.
Agreed! The melancholy of this song, and that line, is wonderful. "Where did we go wrong?" feels so fitting today.....
How would that remind you of something...unless you’re a time traveller from the future!! Oh boy where did we go wrong?!
was it the koreans or americans?
Man I can’t wait for a new Fallout game with this as a theme song
Reminds me of the west coast fires that filled the air with smoke across many states. The sky was gray, and red and orange the closer you were to the fires, for many days. It's still gray outside where I'm at now.
She is unbelievable talented, would love to see more
I love her (them, all of them) it’s like walking into a club and hearing a really good band with a really good singer who have been doing their thing for years. No auto-tune, just good musicians and a beautiful singer. Like music’s supposed to sound like.
The choice of orchestration here is perfect for this song, and Allison is enchanting. Great vid.
I want to give this a standing ovation right here in my office by myself. Spectacular.
Her porcelain skin is stunning
Look at Citizen Kane over here clapping by himself. :D
One of the most beautiful and talented young performesr who excites, thrills and makes me smile with all of her work. Magnetic!!
Wonderful! Everything about this is sooo good. Allison is lovely!
I had doubts. Effectively reworking such a _special song_ so near & dear to so many in any meaningful way is no small feat, and Scott Bradlee's arrangement of the song is pure genius. Members of PMJ and Allison Young: your bittersweet rendition of this is mesmerizing. You did not disappoint. Even ELO & Jeff Lynn himself would have to acknowledge the masterpiece he wrote as performed here is brilliant.
He'd absolutely love this I'm sure, Jeff Lynne is one of the most humble and shy rock stars to ever grace the stage though, so we may never know.
This song makes me remember memories that aren't mine, damn they're beautiful just like the song.
That's called imagination. You're imagining.
@@TheBlarggle is that like thinking becuse that hurst mah bran
@JHyun - Or and hear me out... Drunk
"This song makes me remember memories that aren't mine" -- Damn that's good
@@MykkaM An honest opinion about a beautiful song
Stunning. Absolutely Gorgeous and Beautiful.
To both the Song and the Singer
WOW... she has a voice. AND the timing they did with sunset. EPIC
I think she looks like real-life, more natural Jessica Rabbit with her jazz style. Absolutely beautiful in all ways, great performance!
Nahh, she's too "adorable". She does have the voice, though.
Lol. You nailed it.
But she's not drawn that way -- she *is* that way 🌹
.....COULD be Barbara Babcock's DAUGHTER, actually.....
Oh... my... GOD... I've never had so many shivers when listening to a song like that
Superb lighting on this video. Allison Young looks like she's sunlight personified, complementing the gorgeous sunset background. And good rendition by PMJ, as usual.
Two years later, still fantastic in every way. Listen to this every day.
Allison Young ... just wonderful, listened to everything you have done since I heard you with Josh Turner .... what a future you have ...thank you, that was great
Everyone looks so incredible; neat, fancy, gorgeous, professional--
...gotdangit, steel guitar guy.
yeah, no one could convince that dude to wear a tie?
jeverettrulz so it can just hang on his steel guitar?
@@SeaDubya Bow Tie ?!?!!?
@@SeaDubya Tie clip? A vest? I can go on.
I dunno man, that's pretty formal for a steel guitar guy. He's wearing a shirt and looks mostly sober.
Wow she has such a gorgeous voice I cant🤩😍❤️😭
Her voice is so New Orleans, jazz. Thank You!
She is so beautiful! So is her voice.
Tears, massive tears are falling down my cheeks. Such a beautiful interpretation of that song and great job all of you (esp Allison).
This is by far my favorite PMJ cover yet, I just can't stop coming back to it. Allison's voice is mesmerizing and its a great song overall. Great Job.
