- I've admired Allison's voice for some time now, so when we made a tour stop in Nashville, I asked if she'd be willing to do a video. She said yes, and suggested we ought to do something as Nashville as it comes - a Willie Nelson tune popularized by Patsy Cline.

my mom was a professional singer back in the early 50's and two weeks before she passed I played her your rendition of this beautiful song. She smiled and swayed and with closed eyes said " thank you honey". So as I remember my mom I'd like to thank you both for this.

My parents were just "normal folk," working whatever job they had to, but they have always loved music, especially older tunes, and country like Patsy, George (both of them,) Conway, and so on. I don't want to say good bye, to them, but I pray I have to and not them, and I'll make sure they have plenty of amazing music in their lives as long as I can. After that, I'll break for a few days/weeks, then pick myself up like they'd tell me to and go on, I hope.

Yes. It's a ballad. It's a simple, wholesome ballad that does best with a simple arrangement. The vocal needs a clear wholesome tone, with no tricks or trills, with a sweet, simple accompaniment. A beautiful rendition of a perfect American song.

Allison Young has her own channel and her wonderful personality comes out when she describes that she loves wearing vintage clothing which she gets in thrift stores because that's about the only place that sells it. As a life long musician and singer now in my late 60s, I can honestly say that is one of the best renditions of a fabulous song I have ever heard, and I've heard a lot. The guitar work was terrific, just right for Allison's voice and presentation of the song.

Isn't it amazing how he transforms a jukebox tune into a sophisticated jazz classic. I'd really like to hear Willie Nelson's reaction. Not to take anything away from Allison; her uninflected voice at "blue," which she then transforms with an understated vibrato, is like a dagger to the soul.
I've found three covers you guys have done. Do an album. Just like this. No drums. No 1000 other instruments. Just the guitar and her voice, sometimes Josh's voice too. Put together 8-12 songs like this and I'll buy the album.

Never thought I should hear a version on par with Patsy Clines' but here it was.
Pure, natural, vocal talent.
No synthesizer needed. And the guitar is of course played flawlessly.
Just amazing! Allison renders a heartfelt and sweet performance with NO unnecessary embellishments (like a lot of young singers do), but just lets her beautiful voice and style do the talking (er, singing). Josh composes another unbelievably creative arrangement on guitar (and plays it superbly) and then gets out of the way to let Allison shine. The duo whistling is the icing on the cake! Thank you, you two, for sharing this. I listen to it about once a week these days - one of my favorite music videos to always go back to

Why would I do that?
First, Allison has a beautiful voice, but the accompaniment guitar work is fantastic. Josh knows just what and when to play, never too much. never too little. Josh, you are truly a gifted player. The comping, and grace notes that you add are really working in this tune. Seriously, a great job and both of you nailed it perfectly.
