And that is why Steve Perry will go down as one of the greatest Rock frontmen in History. Silky smooth voice, impressive vocal range, amazing stage presence and the HAIR ! Oooooh, you gotta' love that hair. Lol.
208 somebody throws their shoes to get their attention steeve smiles a t guitarist neil.few seconds later he looks like what did you throw, what are you doing.
Seen this tour in Salt Lake City Utah at the salt Palace. He stood there tears rolling down his face. I looked over at my wife and said, he’s lost sherry, he’s lost his mother he’s done. A month or so later I heard he walked of the tour. Unbelievable concert. There will never be another band like journey. Deafly will never ever have another Steve Perry.
That is so sad. Do you remember the reaction of the fans when he started crying? It seems Steve was having a slow motion breakdown and he knew enough to get away To save himself. Otherwise, we might have lost him.
Oh my God poor Steve l wish I could of been there. He must of felt so alone. He shouldn't of been performing he needed time to grief.he said after his mom passed he had never been so alone. This post has really touched me.all these years later.l really love Steve Perry he is more down to earth than most entertainers l,m forever grateful you came back to us. 2020 in Cleveland Ohio a million miles away from him . Always your fan.
Yeah nothing like loosing your mother, I lost mine 2 years ago. I love Steve Perry! My hubby saw him live in Houston, the one that is on the cd, excellent cd! We then saw Steve Perry live, front row in 1994! My ears are still ringing, but it was so worth it!
Growing up in the '80s, riding my bike up and down the hills, singing as loud as I wanted... reading and creating an internal world... the last generation to remember a time before the internet. I think that gives us a special position to teach others
Journey without Steve Perry is just a band. He had one of the best effortless vocal ranges I have ever heard! One of the best rock vocalists of ALL time!
I was just a young innocent Journey fan back then. I knew drugs were prevalent in rock and roll but I just assumed it was in heavier rock. When Perry did interviews for the Traces album in which he mentioned being on drugs during this tour, I was floored for some young, innocent teen reason! Now when I see this and the “I’ll Be Alright Without You” videos, I now see it in a whole new light!! Still, a great performance!
i was born in 1978 and luckily i had friends who had older siblings who inoculated us with this music day and night. awesome music. the 80s were simply the best! 😎
This is absolutley awesome. Stunning live performance. Journey is a legend. Steve Perry is a legend. They should have been induced in R&R Hall of fame many many years ago.
Saw them in 1986 in Atlanta. They were fantastic, and my date, now my wife, and I had fun watching Randy Jackson, and then years later saw him on American Idol and had no idea until he mentioned playing with journey, and we were like holy shit that was him. Lol
I remember my babysitter picking me up everyday in her 1980 Corvette and always had this song blasted and singing, cigarette hanging from her left hand and drinking a TAB in a can. No I couldn't have a drink, no I couldnt touch the radio.
Steve has the Soul Of The Late Sam Cooke which gives Him something nobody else has . This lineup was cool Randy Jackson of American Idol on Bass . Steve has it all He set the pace & made His mark . True Giant 👊🏾👍🏾💽🎹🎶🎵
Some of the members of the group think that it was unfair that Arno was not indicted in the Hall... Steve sang on the songs originally he is the one on the records..... Steve is the voice.. Listened to these guys since 77 at 6 years old... My sister was older and that was how I heard them..... Steve is and will forever be the voice.....
I was there for this. The video was filmed at Mountain Aire, Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Angels Camp, CA. The final Mountain Aire of the Rock'n Chair Productions (I think Billl Graham had bought them at this time) era brought back Journey, The Outfield, Andy Taylor(of Duran Duran) and Honeymoon Suite. For the first time ever Mountain Aire would be at night for this show. The opening shots were taken on HWY 49. My wife and I saw the helicopter flying around and we knew something was up.(filming) This same venue hosted Journey in 1981 for the debut of the Escape album. Contrary to popular belief, the Escape tour started in Angles Camp (not Japan) We were the FIRST ones to hear the album, as it was not released at that time.
We were there too! Neil Shon's cousin got us in front row!! Great show - I will never forget the heat, the people ( everybody was so chill! ) and the bands!!
I was there Mountain Aire CCFG 8/23/1986 Journey, The Outfield, Andy Taylor(of Duran Duran) and Honeymoon Suite. Seen Journey a few times before and since wihout Steve Perry. This concert, this time in my life, I will never forget. 20 years old with the world by the tail. Had I only known, it was all about to blow up in my face... I'm out there with a girl on my sholders somewhere in middle front. A much younger American Idol's Randy Jackson played Base on this tour and can be seen in the video.
theothertroll I'm with you buddy. I'm sick about people worship vocals and underrate the rest of musicians. Journey is what it is because of the sum of all talents. Steve didn't make the songs by himself, he was supported by other 4 kickass players. True that Steve joining started a new era in Journey but he didn't own everything. And by the way, most of Perry's solo album is not even close to Journey songs, there's something missing in "Street Talk". Just my opinion though.
This song and the album brings back good memories with my sisters went to this concert outdoors so much fun we had they will always be the best rock band thanks for the memories Steve Perry and the band your the best in the bay atea always listening to you guys These days you won't be going to a concert like that those were the good old days! So much fun!
Steve Perry is and always will be Journey, Journey now is dead without him. Love you Steve, best vocals ever and very sexy since he started playing with them to today (I miss the long hair though)
I'm with you Peter. Don't take to SP AT ALL, but I always liked this song. Great harmonies. Remember recording it on VHS from All Hit Videos with Chick Foster. Man, they played good vids back then.
One of my fave parts was always the vocal harmonies in the last half of the song...they sound absolutely wonderful live. Never saw this, thanks for uploading. Saw them the tour before this one back in the day. ;)
I’ve seen a ton of “live” Journey but I gotta believe this is one of their most dynamic, musically and visually stimulating performances I’ve ever seen. Everything is perfect all the way down to Steve’s perfectly “quaffed” mane. Lol. Awesome lineup too...
Bullworker64 I saw them when they came through Greensboro, North Carolina on the same tour. They were amazing. It was also the show where Steve got hit by a glow stick that some idiot threw up on the stage while he was in the middle of singing. It looked like it hit him in the throat! There used to be a video posted on here of that event. Not sure if it’s still up anymore but Steve Perry was really pissed off and actually tried to jump off the stage to go after the guy. In the end the police arrested the guy and dragged him out of the Colosseum. And, as they say, the show went on.
Song journey and Steve Perry had on the red tuxedo jacket and ripped up jeans in Columbia South Carolina 1986 I still haven't gotten over it what a hottie💋
Now that Randy Jackson is back in the band, I bet that Journey starts playing "Girl Can't Help It", "I'll Be Alright Without You", "Suzanne", "Positive Touch", and "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" when they get out on the road again (hopefully soon).
One of the few Journey videos where we see the great drummer Larrie Londin who played with Elvis and recorded with Journey during a time of change in the band. He died only a few short years later at age 48. One of the best drummers I've ever heard.
And that is why Steve Perry will go down as one of the greatest Rock frontmen in History. Silky smooth voice, impressive vocal range, amazing stage presence and the HAIR ! Oooooh, you gotta' love that hair. Lol.

World's best hair and voice
I make your words mine, incredible.
You know that the audio in this video isn’t the actual live recording from this show right?
It's funny when people talk about Steve "losing it" vocally towards the end of Journey's first run in 86-87. If that's losing it please sign me up.
Why would anyone think about comparing steve with other journey vocalists! He can't be replaced! He's like a very rare plant in the human garden! ....

Great to hear Randy Jackson rejoins Journey after a 34 Years Absence
I have to say this is a hell of a good song, it’s like the chords create a world. A 1980s fantasy.
This is absolutley awesome. Stunning live performance. Journey is a legend. Steve Perry is a legend. They should have been induced in R&R Hall of fame many many years ago.
Someone please get this man to be one of The Voice's vocal coaches! I would watch that season religiously

I love journey so much but without Perry I still just feel like I'm missing something
I agree 100%.
@@alicefleming3099 Yep...absolutely
There would never be magic if steve never joined. He changed their music and co wrote all their hits.

Randy Jackson on bass!! Total badass
The moment you listen to Steve perry sing you're hooked with his voice.
And the bands HARMONIES too.
Happy to have made this 1000 likes.
The Best of the Best.
There was something about Randy Jackson that really made this band line up pretty special.
I attended this concert tour in SLC. Such a great show. Love Randy Jacksons moves!
Those harmonies.....
My favorite Journey song.
Ah... the '80s. What would they have been without Aqua Net?

Another great live performance! This band is phenomenal and Steve Perry is on fire!!!!
My husband and I were both there, though we hadn't met yet. Mountain Air was a great venue! Miss it.
Oh God Steve, please come back!!!!!! I was crying watching this video. PLease come back Steve, PLEASE COME BACK TO JOURNEY!!!!!

Love you Steve. Wish you would come back. THey don't make singers like you anymore...
Terry Journey Have you heard Arnel? He was awesome saw Journey play in Vegas tonight
Arnels fine but hes not as good as Steve Perry. He is and still is unmatchable
+mediaboyz Pineda is good, but no one can replace Perry.
Kian Clarence Since Perry is not coming back theres nothing we can do about it. Pineda is the best since Perry.
mediaboyz Yeah. I have to concede with that. Nothing else.
Great song and memories of this song. I would love to time travel to 1986
Ich würde sofort mit reisen 💯💖

Randy Jackson gettin' it on that bass!!!!

STEVE PERRY : a showman totally ! 👍
Not a big fan of the band, but I think this is their best, a great track. Especially the closing section.
